I have struggled with my weight for most of my life. The last "skinny" photo of myself I have is when I was 4-5 years old. In 5th grade I remember one of my classmates who was 60 pounds blabbing to the entire school that I was 125 pounds after public weigh in at the gym. It was humuliating. At 14 I lost weight and got down as low as 160 pounds, but that is the lowest weight I have been at since I pretty much stopped growing heighth wise. 27 years ago when I became pregnant with my daughter I weighed in at 225. When I was married 20 years ago I weighed in at 250. For years I bumped along below the 300 mark. Then when I snuck above it I was really bummed. The heavest I have been is 352.
About 3 years ago I went on Weight Watchers and really gave it a good try. After about 6 months I had lost 35 pounds and was almost down to 300 again. I think I freaked out and sabatoged myself and started to indulge in bad foods again.
I smoked from the time I was 14 and quit smoking 4 years ago with the help of Chantex. I used to try and quit smoking and would get till about noon, then would give in to the cravings. I still have times where I want to smoke, but don't because I know that I would just start all over again, and it would be bad. I look at VGS surgery as I did as the Chantex. They are both just tools to try and help me acheive a healthier living goal.
I know that I have trigger foods, and one of the bennefits of VGS surgery is that I won't be able to eat those foods anymore. Not even a little.
I am already down from my heaviest, and will continue on with the support group I get from Weight Watchers for official weigh ins and the meetings about healthy living and healthy lifestyles.
