Psyc evaluation freaking out
TheOldMeAgain replied to AshWalker's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm happy everyone psy eval went well. Mine didn't so much. The doctor was a in-house psychiatrist. My instincts told me to be wary. He looked up my file in the system and questioned me about it after my interview and the 567 questionnaire. He was concern that I abruptly stopped going to therapy while deployed and when I got back. And I had an incident where I had to go to the ER and I had hydrocodone in my system that my PCP didn't prescribe. I actually forgot about that incident. One of the questions was Have You Ever Took Medicine That Wasn't Subscribe to You? I told him no. Now he thinks I'm a liar and will recommend I get counseling for 3 to 6 months before I get surgery. I just know he will I could see it in his eyes. I'm gooding at reading ppl. I been looking around for psychologists that specialize in WLS so I can get a second opinion. I hope the VA Center will accept a second opinion since everything is done in house. Sigh--- the past does come back to haunt you after all. -
Your not alone in worrying. I'm waiting for my psy evaluation Appt and failing is one on my biggest concerns. My issue is that my mental health problems are all on file in the VA hospital I'm having my surgery. The doc will have access to all my info about my PTSD from deployment and other issues. My Bariatric coordinator emphasize that you can be denied surgery if the doc think your not ready or handle problems in the past. Stressing is not going to help. Go in their and follow the doc lead. Don't volunteer answers, answers questions yes or no and tell them what they want to hear. You know if your mentally health enough to handle WLS and all the negative along with positive outcomes. When is your exam?

I hope this forum is helpful when I have my surgery

The few ppl that ask questions about other doctor plans is because they read so many different plans that are different than the one provided for them.I can see if the patient was getting cancer treatment that needs a specialize treatment plan made for that individual. But that is not the case with WLS it seems. Across the board doctors give the same pre/post opt plan for most of their patients. Maybe higher BMI patients will have to go on a longer pre-opt diet. That is the reason I can see why a few want to get advice (not judgement) about following a different plan. From what I know from a few friends, a family member and I've read on here, not following their surgeon plan to a T didn't hurt nor hinder their process or recover. Its not like they're making their own plan. Only going by a another surgeon plan. I also understand that what I would do may be different then what others do and that is ok as long as they're not harming themselves. -

No it gets pretty heated on here when discussing mistakes. Some veterans can be rude if you don't follow their plan on what to eat at certain stages. I go through all the forums even if I'm not that ethnicity. We can take s little knowledge from anyone. I've notice mostly those groups I names seem really supportive. They're are others that give good support too that I may have missed. Right now I'm in the pre-opt stage. At home I have a lot of support at home so I don't need it here. Mostly I come for information. I'm considering Mexico because I'm tired of the hoops I have to go through for the program I'm in at the VA Medical Center. You can put up a picture if you want but I choose not to. -

Yes they're clicks around here. Pre-surgery members are ignored a lot but there are some great support on here. The Australia, African-American and Mexico groups are really supportive of each other. In the end its a great source of information. Good luck to you and I hope you be one of the members that get the support they want. -

Your upsetting the wanna-be-cool kids on their territory. This forum is the chance they never got in high school. Leave it to them. Misery loves company. Even a poster they have ridicule on other thread joined the pack. Trying to fit in. Glad I never had to do that.

Please let us know in what state or country can a doctor face criminal charges for consensual sex? American Medical Association has a guideline for ethics. AMA encourages the usage but its not mandatory. Most oaths and codes are administrated by voluntary associations not regulatory agencies. Their are limits on serious disciplinary action. Do anyone knows Mexico Medical Association policies? Criminal charges is way extreme. I'm no expert and always open to being educated about things. A article or website would be needed.

Some ppl are not missing the point. They only disagreeing with the severity of Dr. Luna punishment. I bet they fire less doctors for medical mistakes that endangered or killed patients.
-
Dr. Garcia was most likely bombarded with calls and emails demanding he fire Dr. Luna or else. Self-righteousness will do it all the time. I believe since it was consensual the most he should've got was a reprimand. I guess some doctors in MX put business before standing by their employees. I also guessed the right woman. This is one of the rare scenarios I've seen where a woman wasn't ****-shamed for her behavior. While that is a good thing prosecuting the doctor is no better. If she wasn't a fat women who all on this forum can relate to I don't so many would sympathize.

What do you do when you switch scales and your newer one is heavier?
TheOldMeAgain replied to genepha's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My digital scale gives me two different weights. When I weight myself in the kitchen it always say one pound heavier than in the bathroom. Both rooms are tiled. When I go to a doc Appt. my weight be three times higher than my heaviest weigh at home. It drives me crazy. I often put my 5lbs dumbbells on my scale at home and its only off by 0.2 lb. It drives me crazy because I make sure not to eat or drink before doc office. So I convince myself something is wrong with my doc office scale. -

want to start over on here
TheOldMeAgain replied to ********'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Never apologize for who you are and what you stand for if you done no wrong. People are too different for there not to be disagreements and conflict. Please don't allow strangers to have enough power to reduce you to tears. Stand up for what you believe in even if your standing alone. Being liked is not always a good thing. It can lead to pack mentality and expectations you may not want to live up to. Keep posting and try not to take comments so personally. -

Beware! woman traveling to TJ
TheOldMeAgain replied to blindsided's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
This is all hearsay. Since there was no evidence provided and the OP choose to retract her claims those that are considering Dr. Garcia should not not hold this story against him. He is not responsible for what his staff do off the clock anyway. This post could be consider slander. Lawsuits could be filed. Whether its true or not doesn't matter since the accuser choose to back track. Unless your willing to see your accusations to the end think of possible consequences. Too bad that a good surgeon will mostly likely loose business over this. -

Describe your personality!
TheOldMeAgain replied to Olivereindeer's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I use to be very social and outgoing. Once I got back from deployment I craved time to myself and became a loner. After so long I lost myself and ate away my feelings. One day I woke up and realize how out of control everything in my life got. Especially my weight and bad eating habits. Now that I don't go out much because I feel uncomfortable in my body. I know this surgery with me get back to the old me. -
