    The Beginning

Oh don't worry you'll be able to make a December cruise without a doubt in my mind evening your surgery is in the first couple weeks of October. However, my surgeon was only booking 2 weeks out. 1-2 months out is more common. Honestly we just aren't in control of these things. I had to adjust my expectations and deal with disappointment several times. One of my favorite quotes is that if you don't want change to happen unless the circumstances are perfect, you'll be the same forever. Some people have a much shorter wait than I do, but prepare yourself for a longer one. It is worth it and you can always put the surgery off until after the cruise if you have to.
  2. I didn't like any of the protein shake flavors I tried until I started mixing peanut butter powder with the chocolate flavors. So good!!

    What to tell work people

I told everyone. For me, it was liberating. I've already dealt with people saying they don't support the decision, etc., but that is nothing compared to the overwhelming support people have shown for me. It's almost made me cry a couple times, how nice people have been. And anybody who speaks out against it will have to deal with the fact that they are powerless to change me. I know I'm making the right decision, and I make my decisions for me, not anybody else.
  4. unjury is the best Protein powder nutritionally, but the only flavors that are good are: chocolate (mix with Peanut Butter powder... AMAZING) chicken Soup (mix with Water or chicken broth) Unflavored (mix in broths, etc, to add protein). The chocolate with peanut butter powder is so good, I actually crave it. Good luck!

    The Beginning

Well, after your 6 months is complete, your surgeons office will probably take 2-3 weeks to do some pre-pre-op testing and review the results. Then it can take 2 weeks for processing, then they'll submit the claim. I heard back in 3 weeks. So while my 6 months was up Jan 4, nothing was submitted till Jan 29. Then I heard back Feb 19.

    The Beginning

My 6 months of supervised weight loss was invaluable. I thought I was ready back in June when I was first denied, but I was FAR from ready. I took these 6 months as a chance to prove to myself that I could succeed after surgery. I started exercising regularly, started counseling, attended a bariatric support group, and learned to eat healthy. I made a ton of mistakes, but I learned so much from them and I know I'm stronger than ever for after surgery. The 6 months was definitely a blessing

    Work out weight gain?

  12. Are there any sleevers here that, before surgery, doubted themselves or were afraid they didn't have what it takes to succeed? And if you're a year out or so, what has your progress been? My surgery is in March. I'm having some trouble believing in myself.

    Doubts About Success?

Thanks so much you guys for sharing; I feel less alone in my doubt. It helps a lot Ugh why is confidence so hard??? I just don't want to sabotage myself. Which is an odd fear because I'm the one who controls whether or not I self sabotage in the first place.
