5 Confessions (Join In)
Alabamasleever replied to ebthompson2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, it's been a while since I've been on here. But I'm feeling the need to confess so here goes... I confess that I'm way more arrogant than I ever thought possible I confess that I see myself as one hot momma (it took pics to convince me I wasn't before weight loss, lol) I confess I'm addicted to beef jerky and I justify the unhealthiness of it by the great protein amount I confess that sex is way better now! I confess that I'm 11 months out and drink alcohol several times a week even though I signed a contract that I would wait a year I confess that I love my cheese puffs and dont even feel guilty about it I confess that I don't say it out loud but I am beyond thrilled that I now share clothes with my 14 year old daughter I confess that while folding clothes I hold up my new panties and just grin at how tiny they look Last but not least I confess that this is by far the best decision I've ever made, better than when I said 'I do' to my husband!!! Whew, that felt great, thx -

All of my December sleevers...

I've had sips here and there without difficulty but never actually bought one for myself. A few sips has been enough to satisfy my craving and didn't notice any discomfort -

Stay away from the grocery store!

Lol, that's funny because I love free lunch at Costco, Sam's, even the food court at the mall. One walk through and I'm full and didn't spend a dime on lunch! However, I don't track so haven't thought of that issue, good luck with that! -

I'm a little over 2 months out and I'm getting to where I can take some gulps. Sometimes, if I get a little crazy, it will hurt but just for a few seconds then I'm fine. Normal, I guess. -

Huh? C-section on the outside? I've had 3, scar on outside, yes but they also cut through your abdominal muscles, cut your uterus open and pulled out a human from your inside! Sorry to be graphic but it was a little more than 'on the outside'. Anyway, to OP, everyone is different, of course, but my sleeve surgery did not even compare to pain of c-section recovery. As long as no complications, recovery from the actual surgery (incisions and what not) is/was the easy part.

I hope this doesn't make you not have surgery. I certainly hope you don't really think this 'is not working' for her. No one is perfect and I think all of us have slipped up in some way or another at some point. This is a tool, as I'm sure we've all heard 100 times. Again, no one is perfect, there is no miracle surgery that means you'll never eat the wrong thing again. All you can do is do better tomorrow. This surgery is a life saver for many of us. One piece of cake, what would we eat before surgery? For me, 4 pieces! So, carry on OP, you'll be all right! -

I eat bbq sauce on almost all meat, love it. Sugar is sugar, unless you are trying to stay away from sugars, it's fine. I haven't had a problem tolerating it but thats just trial and error for each individual. As few calories as I consume, I honestly don't worry about a little sugar here and there, but to each their own. I've also enjoyed a sliver of birthday cake since being sleeved so if you are very strict with your diet then please disregard my comment, lol

Same here. I'm a raging b****h since surgery. My husband doesn't seen to like it of course, but I am actually okay with it. Personally, I think I hated myself so bad before and lack of self confidence just kind of kept me quiet sometimes. Now I say whatever I feel whenever I feel it and it is very liberating. Everyone else around me may complain about it but not me! -

I agree, I don't look in the mirror and see it. However, I KNOW it's noticeable now because just this week I've had 6 different people comment on my weight loss (that don't know about surgery). I've lost 50lbs, including 2 week pre-op diet. It is exciting to have people finally notice. It saddens me though that I was big enough that it takes 50lbs (the size of my 5 year old) for it to be noticeable! Oh well, part of the 'journey' I suppose -
Ibuprofen Alternatives?
Alabamasleever replied to Groovinchikin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told no nsaids for life for risk of ulcers. Tylenol never worked for me either. Thankfully, I haven't needed pain reliever as much since losing some weight. There is a prescription that is basically Tylenol on steroids, lol. If your doc will write some Ultram, which he/she should, it is stronger than tylenol and may help. -
Eating With People Who Don't Know About My Sleeve
Alabamasleever replied to alw1981's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm one of the ones that didn't tell many ppl at all, not because I'm ashamed, just because I don't like being questioned and having to defend my decision, if you will. I would either not go, or tell them you are citing back on your portions to get healthy. If they make some nasty comment, first of all, thats exactly when your husband needs to step in. I would NEVER allow my family to talk down talk my husband and that should be nipped in the bud immediately. If he doesn't say anything then you should. I would certainly point out to them that health is your top priority, not 'fitting in with their family'. I think when you hand it right back to them, they may see how stupid their comments are and that you aren't phased by them. Oooh girl, what's their number, I want to call them right now! Where do ppl get off thinking it's okay to talk to ppl like that?! If you dont want to tel them, don't! They can say what they want but when it works and you are rocking it, they can all kiss your skinny tail! -

I've told him the same thing. His non-support is simply his own insecurities and has nothing to do with me. I can only part someone on the back so much! And yes, others have noticed...woo hoo! -
