Has anyone used or heard of Bypass restaurant cards from your DR ?
Alabamasleever replied to fonally's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have one but, fyi, cracker barrell and logan's are two restaurants that I know of that let anyone order off childs menu. I know this because thats how my skinny minny mother has eaten for years and she prefers those 2 restaurants for that reason. -
whats for lunch?
Alabamasleever replied to Lisa'slosinit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I work in home health as well. Being in your car all day brings challenges others don't face, like there is no microwave or plates, lol. I usually take my protein shake in the morning and sipping on that between patients takes me until about 10 to finish it. Then, wait your allotted time and drink water. I usually don't get hungry until about 2. I just keep it simple, pack a cool pack with deli meat and cheese. I'm satisfied with a piece of meat rolled up with the cheese inside. I prefer the crumbled feta but whatever you like. Then water till I get home, that's pretty much my day and I am completely satisfied. Good luck! -

Amount of Food and Your Mind
Alabamasleever replied to Dreamingofhealth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, I'm fine with it at home. Going to eat at familiar restaurants is when I feel a little sad. Not only because I can't eat all the yummy stuff I used to eat at that particular restaurant but also sad that I used to eat so much! It's certainly a reality check. To be honest, I sit and watch my husband stuff his face and it makes me a little disgusted! He did ask me to go to one of our all time favorites, Sticky Fingers this weekend and I told him no, I just dont think I'm ready for that yet. I do sit in amazement that I'm full after so little but the way I feel makes it all okay! -

All of my December sleevers...
Alabamasleever replied to blkdiamond377's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, everytime I drink I get this nausea/hunger feeling for a minute or two then it passes until the next sip. The only thing that doesn't do that is Welch's cran-grape juice but it's packed with sugar so can't do much of that. I have been taking prilosec 40mg daily, saw doctor today and he switched me to 20mg twice a day, hoping that helps. -

LiterateStylish, just curious as to where you found this information? Are you assuming this because of the decreased blood flow and slow healing? -
Does the drain hurt
Alabamasleever replied to edz2129644's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Apparently everyone is different because I barely even knew the drain was there but when it was removed I cried like a little baby and even spewed a few curse words at the nurse. That hurt! I did apologize afterwards, lol. -

are there any sleevers here who have had leaks from cheating on their post op diets?
Alabamasleever replied to leeann71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, so to answer the question...when someone on this forum says 'omg, you are going to cause a leak' they are assuming that you could cause a leak. Thanks -

Alabamasleever replied to leeann71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Susan but I don't think that was the question, at least not for me. I totally understand the purpose of the diet. However, when someone says that they cheated, people automatically start freaking out that it will 'cause' a leak. Just saying this forum is the only place I've seen that lists that as a cause. Obviously overeating or eating solids to early is not good when liquids is advised, but, again, there are some surgeons that tell their patients to eat whatever they can tolerate from the get go or to advance as tolerated with no specific time frame. Just curious as to why all the variations if eating solids too soon can cause a life threatening complication. Seems that there would be research to back this, and there may be but I haven't seen it. -

Alabamasleever replied to leeann71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been wondering the same thing. I can't find any literature that says not having just liquids will cause a leak, nor did my surgeon or nut say that but it's all over this forum. Also, some surgeons say clear liquids for 2 weeks, full liquids for 4, regular foods on day 3, the list goes on with the variations so where does it say eating mushees too soon actually 'causes' leaks? Everything I find pretty much says bad staple line. -

Neat thread, thx. Mine is a new tattoo, wonder woman when I lose 100lbs! -
I am 2 weeks out. I lost 20lbs the first week, then 2 more but have stopped moving for the last few days. Now, I am freezing cold all the time. I feel like I'm shivering on the inside. I have always been very hot natured but I now have an electric blanket on my bed and my family is sweating! I would normally think low iron but only 2 weeks out? And no fever, thyroid is fine. Anyone else experienced this?

I'm a nurse and going back Monday. My surgeon cleared me this week to do whatever I want, no lifting restrictions or anything. Planning on starting back to gym next week also. -

Alabamasleever replied to sars's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You don't need to be chewed out or judged, thats the last thing you need! I had two days where I was just in the pits of depression because I really missed the comfort of stuffing my face and it upset me to know that I'll never be able to so that again. And, yes, I knew this before surgery but reality just sets in after surgery. You WILL get through this and you will NOT be a failure. I'll confess too that I am now eating regular food. Of course, very small quantity, chew really well, and no drinking 30 minutes before & after. Right or wrong is for each person to think what they want. If you read all these posts on here, it's amazing how many different programs there are. From clear liquids for 2 weeks, full liquids for a month, to eating regular food 3 days post-op. That being said, I feel SO much better, physically and mentally since starting to eat 'real food'. Just try to make healthy choices and remember that you just had major surgery, anesthesia alone can make your emotions run wild, not to mention the major changes your body and mind are going through! It will take some time but breathe through it, pray, go for a walk. You'll be feeling great in no time and you will rock that sleeve!
