All of my December sleevers...
terravue replied to blkdiamond377's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think you may be right about the water retention, I haven't been peeing hardly at all and it is very noticeable from before surgery. I haven't had coffee since surgery either and I loved it before, though with cream and I don't like the thought of it without so I may not do coffee yet. But I will try adding even more water until I am floating and see how that goes. I lost 27 lbs in the first month since sleeved Dec. 19th but have been in a stall then started losing just a couple of lbs. this week after fluctuating up and down the same lb for a while. -

Hmmmm when I watched it I thought she said it wasn't the easy way out, that she was saying the sleeve was a tool, that the head work needed to be done as well, perhaps I misunderstood. -
Yea!!!

that is just a crazy thing for her to say, she must have flat butt! My boyfriend is so worried I will lose my back side and legs but even thin before I had back. flaunt it!

I loved that she was so honest and gave good info to the masses, who don't have a clue what the heck we are doing. -

Our weight loss began when we seriously committed to lifestyle changes 2 week preop diet start date 12/03/12, losses to date - me 44 mr 64 . On regular food but limited selection of choices ( stage 3 on our journey). Feeling awesome. Wishing everyone a wonderful blessed day!

You are doing great!

That is so wonderful! Glad you are feeling so good and have had a wonderful start. I have lost 27 lbs since being sleeved on Dec. 19th as well and 40 overall since last Sept. with my preop diet. I feel well on the path, I am trying to make the most of this period of weight loss because it is the best during the whole journey. I will be going to soft foods at the end of the week and not go to a regular modified diet for another 6 weeks after that. enjoy!

Dec. 17 Sleevers - How are you on week out?
terravue replied to sars's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Phew! we do have a lot to learn here. I think too as we heal and feel better it is easier to not think of this stuff. We both got a wake up call. I am starting to get my schedule filled up more again and I really need to make the time for my food program in it. eating cottage cheese verrry slowly this morning. -

Dec. 17 Sleevers - How are you on week out?
terravue replied to sars's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I do still have an uncomfortable feeling when I don't sip, I also had a hiatal hernia repair so that is healing as well, I had a bad day with food yesterday too. I ate some canned fish for breakfast too fast because I was going to meet my friend for a walk, I didn't eat much but what I had decided to come back up. I also hadn't mixed it with mayo or anything because it seemed moist enough, canned in oil but now I am thinking it was too dry. then it happened with some shredded chicken later in the day. This is the first time this has happened to me so it was a wake up call to sit and eat slowly no matter how small the amount. The pain and pressure in my chest was really bad. -
wow you guys are amazing! Is that weight loss all since surgery? I am trying to optimize my weight loss during this honeymoon period. what food stage are you in? I have been walking once a day perhaps I better ramp it up but I still get tired. Congrats on your new job.

have you been to an orientation meeting or talked to your surgeon yet? sounds like the problems you are having could be related to your weight but I would check with your doctor. Many things get fixed after the surgery, it is a path to a new life of not having these physical problems related to being too heavy. You are too young to feel this way. they almost always want you to lose some weight before surgery, have they given you an amount yet? You could get started on that and will probably feel better so that you want to continue and when you decide to do the surgery you will be ready to take the plunge into better health overall. -
Hi there, I am Dec. 19th as well, how is everyone doing almost a month out now?

I am almost a month out and my hiatal hernia was fixed at the same time, I didn't even know I had one. I am glad it has been fixed for sure. How much weight do you have to lose and have you been trying to lose it for some time? for me I did medifast and lost 100 lbs then gained it back did other such diets and lost the 100 lbs then gained it back. I think it depends where you are in this process, I am 51 it was this or keep having more and more health problems and not last too much longer. You may be younger and I wouldn't want you to go through what I did in my 30's and 40's. It is a tough decision and it is not an easy thing to do but the people who stood up and spoke at the support meeting I went to yesterday all said they would do it again in a heartbeat and wished they could have done it sooner. Take your four months and so some real soul searching and thinking about what you have been through already. All the best to you whatever you decide. -
Dec. 17 Sleevers - How are you on week out?
terravue replied to sars's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you have a dietician? My surgeon seems to leave it all up to the dietician's program, he doesn't remark on food at all so far. I have a phone appt, with the dietician on Friday and she will probably move me into soft foods, which won't be all that different than puree's for me. I have been eating soft stuff and just chewing really well until it is pureed. I will be interested if she adds more volume this time, I have been having only 1/4 cup each of the three meals. So interesting to hear all the different programs. -

What stage are you in? Are you eating mainly protein first? no liquids with the meal and it sticks in the stomach longer. -

Meegan, this is another thing different between our Kaiser programs, at one month I go from pureed to soft foods and stay there for another month and a half before going on to a modified regular diet. -
