You look beyond fab! Thank you for sharing and inspiring us who recently had surgery . Any tips , advice on what you did during your journey would be appreciated. -
Thanks! I am definitely going to have to get this!

Walking definitely helps. I was also sleeved in December so I used Christmas shopping to help get the gas out . Walking in the mall was really helpful because it distracted some of the feelings of discomfort and it is really cold outside right now. Happy walking!

Got sleeved 12/17, Husband deployed.

I have a lot of weight perception issues from when I was young too. I look back at pics of myself when my mom told me I was putting on weight and I would kill to look like that now. I was a nice healthy weight. My mom was skin and bones so she couldn't compare. This is our time to focus on us and build our body image in a healthy way. You will lose weight, in a healthy, controlled manner that is life changing. We need to follow doctor's orders but it will happen. I was sleeved on the 18th so we are close to each other. Stay positive, stay focused!! I also want to thank you and your husband for your service and sacrifice for our freedom -
I didn't have a drain or stitches - had glue. Glad I did and that may be the difference. I also had gas but it didn't really get built up because I was burping like crazy. Very ladylike and sexy

Stacy-I said same thing!! I was up and about really quickly.

Thanks much! -
I had 2 c-sections and no issues at all so far (sleeved 12/18). I kept telling people the pain from this surgery was far less than my c-sections

You may feel that way but you really can't. I felt pretty good a couple days later but your stomach is really, really small with swelling. From other posts early on we won't get a full feeling until on solids (I am less than 2 weeks out) and asked a similar question because I feel like I could drink quite a bit, although very slowly. Liquids don't stay in your stomach that long either.

Sounds delish! I have seen a couple people mention pb2. What is that? I assume it is something that tastes like peanut butter.

Got ya. I'm being a total freak about protein. Everyone that I have talked to has said months down the road it is one of the most important things to keep up with so I am trying to get in a rhythm - I'm a little bit of a control freak, can you tell? Lol -
Ugh that is not good. Rest up and take care!

Kimmie-how many calories does this come to? -
I was sleeved on December 18th and have done very well. I got into the habit of weighing myself every day which I now know was a mistake. Today when I weighed myself it showed I gained a pound and I was disappointed and confused. I'm getting my protein in (55-70 per day). In fact I'm so focused on the protein I have not really been having too much of the other items my doc has allowed at this point. I have had soup 2 times and mashed potatoes a couple of times. Here is my issue.... I am no longer feeling full for as long. I can drink more now than I could (can drink 8-11 oz in 30 minutes when before could only tolerate 3-4 in same period). Any thoughts or suggestions? Am I doing something wrong? Just feeling out of sorts. Maybe it is because I am more healed but would like to hear from others.

Can you tell me how you are getting to 60-70g of protein with 300-500 calories? I'd like some lower calorie options. -

I do the Premium Protein shake for breakfast and that has 30g of protein and 160 calories. I bought muscle milk before surgery and trying to use that up. That has 20g of protein and 180 calories. Then I try to get in an Isopure that has 15g of protein and 190 calories. If I have nothing else all day that is 530 calories. I have been trying to get the liquids in but also have some of the liquid/super soft foods I can have which gets me in the 600-800 calorie range. I hope I am not doing too much but my weight loss has been steady. -
I like the Alpine Punch. The grape isn't bad. I wasn't crazy about the orange or blue raspberry. I haven't tried the others yet.

I just had surgery but have already found that with what I have lost already is impacting my tolerance to cold. I was always hot, didn't wear a jacket and now I am always asking hubby if it is cold. Being cold well worth it

I was sleeved on the 18th and have in the 600-800 range but it's mostly from liquid protein. Interested in other responses you get too. -
Whats your fav breakfast?
Joy0125 replied to twinsmama05's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not on solids yet but found this thread really helpful for when I am. Thank you twinsmama for the post and everyone for their answers! -
Nicole-I definitely am sipping. To be honest I don't think I could gulp even if I wanted to. Anything going down too fast creates pressure and discomfort so I am hoping I am creating a sipping habit before I heal too much. I have been extremely careful about not drinking and eating anything at the same time. That is very different but not that difficult to get used to. Thanks for the advice!

My doc allows things like cream of wheat, mashed potatoes, smooth soups, puddings starting week 2.
-
Thanks for the advice. I think looking for a pattern will help stop the freak outs

Thanks Kendra! Glad to know someone feeling same way and especially since our dates are so close. I have been very pleased so far and proud I made it through the holiday so well. I am actually enjoying being more present with my family at meal times and less focused on what I am going to eat or on eating. That has been an unexpected benefit.
