not happy someone slap some sense into me
Joy0125 replied to newgrandmother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can totally see that you look different. You posted on another thread I was on and I just saw the 2 face shots and I got so excited when my surgery was first done. Don't worry about pants size. They do nothing but torture us with sizes any way because brand, style, everything impacts it -
Yes. I'm less than 4 weeks out and had a stall already. Make sure you are getting your protein and water. You will hit slow losses and stalls. Know it will happen and push through. I was starting to panic and fret about ít. Try not to. I know, easier said than done

December Sleevers and Veterans: How many calories 2 weeks post-op?
Joy0125 replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dana-if you are losing, do what you are doing. I had started a stall so asked a similar question and so many people responded with lower calories than I was. I was similar to you with calorie count and I was getting in all my protein and water. I panicked and cut back because I thought I was too high and I think it prolonged the stall. I went back to my prior calorie count and poof, started dropping again. Everyone is well intentioned, but our bodies, requirements, and tolerances are different. Focus on protein and water goals your dr gave you. -
Eating out! How do you sleevers do it?
Joy0125 replied to christy38's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I order what I feel like that is healthy. I'm a little less than 4 weeks out so not on dense meats yet. We went to a diner last night after the mad rush with my daughter's activities and I had 1 scrambled egg with cheese. I asked for a single egg and didn't feel bad or weird about it. It came with toast and my kids ate that. It also came with hash browns. I had a couple bites of potatoes and about 1/2 the egg. The waitress asked me if anything was wrong with my food because I had so little. I said no that I was simply full. My Aunt teased me a little about my fullness in a playful way. Took my daughter to Friendly's last week and had cheddar broccoli soup. Only ate 1/2. She had meal, ice cream, etc. Again, it didn't bother me. I have said this in a couple of posts but I actually get to enjoy the people around me more because I am not focused on what I am going to eat, what I am eating, etc. I eat slowly so get to chat with those around me. That was an unexpected benefit. -
This has to be the funniest and most entertaining thread I have read in a long time. Oh how we describe ourselves and our bodies. Thank you everyone for the full on belly laughs!! Xoxo

No I don't. Takes getting used to but you will. I don't want to risk anything.

Am I ever going to be normal?
Joy0125 replied to Lisa22465's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first week is a little gnarly but it gets easier each and every day. I only got sick one time and that is because I took my vitamins too quickly because they taste horrible and wanted to get it over and done with - lesson learned. You can absolutely go out and eat! i went out with my family over the holidays and had soups, etc. You will just eat differently. You will be able to eat normal foods but will be making better choices. I'm not that far in (sleeved 12/18), already hit a stall and just came out of it, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. I'm learning about eating all over again. Do people think it is slightly strange that I'm only ordering soup...maybe... but I could care less. I actually get to enjoy people when I gout to eat because I am not so focused on food but on what is going on around me. It's wonderful. You will feel like a new person. My energy level is so much higher, my hair and skin look so much better because I'm having a more healthy diet. Trust me, it is worth it. Stay positive and focused on the end goal - a healthier you! -
I was sleeved 12/18 and have had no change yet. I hope to lose some!
-
I was sleeved on 12/18 and had a stall for a good week. I cut back on calories and met minimum protein and I think that just prolonged it. I went back to 600-750 calories, tried to get back to 70g+ of protein and increased my water and poof - I started losing again. I think sometimes we panic and do things that we think will help us but that hamper our weight loss. Good luck!

Which protein is best for "our" needs?
Joy0125 replied to Renagade's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I really like the Premium Nutrition shakes. I get them at Sam's Club. They have 30g protein and 160 calories which is better than the muscle milk. I think the same thing about Isopure but if I have to drink it I like the Alpine Punch. -
The Holidays destroyed my diet, but I had fun!

Kinda Down...Need to Vent :(
Joy0125 replied to Beckyyb93's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Becky-hang in there. I can eat but I don't really like it and am more afraid than anything. I'm still getting a lot of my calories and protein through drinking. Are you getting your protein in? On a positive note, you don't need to worry about dehydration -
Kinda Down...Need to Vent :(
Joy0125 replied to Beckyyb93's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Spunkielor-it really depends. I was out and about 2 days after surgery with no issues. I tired easily and got nauseous here and there but otherwise good. Some people are good, some have pain, etc. you will really need to wait and see. Good luck! -

Is it possible to start stalling in first 2 weeks? Concerned
Joy0125 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was 12/18 and I dropped 19 pounds really quickly. The past several days I went up 1 pound and then have been at the same place for 2 days. I'm getting between 60-70 grams of protein each day. My calories were between 600-800 and I dropped down to 500 range by making different protein choices. Should I have a stall this soon? Is this normal? Am I freaking for no reason? -

Joy0125 replied to Joy0125's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks. I keep hearing about a 3 week stall but not this early. I don't want to have a 2 week AND a 3 week. I was liking dropping weight every day -
Can you share what shakes you drink to get to74g with 2?

You look great! Congrats!! Can't wait to do my pre and post . I'm less than 2 weeks post op and can already feel my clothes fitting differently.

How much calories should we ideally take post-op to loose weight
Joy0125 replied to indian's topic in Food and Nutrition
I read my post op guide from my doc and my doc says between 900-1100 calories. It also says may take months to get to that range so if below don't worry. Hope it helps! -
Thank you for sharing. I was wondering about those post op. now I know to stay away.

Nora-I feel your pain on the chewables. I actually vomited for the first time today within 2 minutes of my calcium chewables. I took them too fast to get it over and done with and paid for it. I'm going back to the gummy version I had pre-op and just chewing like crazy. But you might want to try that route if you can't do pills.
