Rest in peace to my boobies. I'll miss them dearly.
deedadumble replied to truberry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are new implants that will last a lifetime if you don't have complications. I'm the same size I was before I lost weight. I love my new boobs! -

Yes, they are. I'll ship them out this week. The only request I have is that you pay it forward by giving some of your clothes away to someone that needs them when you lose out of them. Thanks! -
PLASTIC SURGERY IN BRAZIL
deedadumble replied to lala3613's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Although scars are affected by the stitching techniques of the doctor, so much more depends on where the incision is located, how the tissue is handled, how the opposing tissue is approximated (matched together), and how an individual heals. Small, tiny stitches are generally not used in body surgery because they don't serve a good purpose. The body surgery is mostly internal sutures and then a running stitch to hold the tissue together at the surface. Some surgeons may use tape instead, but there are drawbacks to each choice. Body incisions have a lot more tension on them than face incisions, so the closure method has to be able to resist that tension so that a larger scar doesn't form. Tape is less strong than stitches and can cause skin irritation so for those that are having skin removal surgery after massive weight loss, it may not be enough support if you have more swelling (swelling is more likely with massive weight loss patients). Make sure you look at a doctors' photos for the type of surgery you are getting. Face incisions will almost always heal nearly invisible because they don't have tension on the incision. Here's my LBL incision after 7 weeks. It was closed with a running stitch and the stitches were about 1/4" apart. The stitch marks are already fading and in a few months will be gone. I'm lucky that I scar pretty well. -
PLASTIC SURGERY IN BRAZIL
deedadumble replied to lala3613's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I would recommend that you look for a doctor that has a lot of experience with weight loss patients. I had an amazingly good experience with Dr. Sauceda in Monterey, MX. -
It is open to all types of concern and support, but you'll probably get more responses to your question if you post it in it's own thread with its own title that fits what you are asking instead of highjacking the OP's (original poster) thread. Most message forums have similar etiquette.

LBL, swelling in calves and ankles?
deedadumble replied to sarsar's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
It's normal. Your lymphatic system which moves fluid around your body has been disrupted by the lipo and the LBL. I've read that it take 3-6 months to get 80% better, but 1-2yrs for 100% improvement. -

I'm in maintenance and I drink a green juice at least 3-4 times a week. It tastes good and my body craves the vitamins. It's not too high in sugar. I also drink about 1-2 ounces of orange juice at night with meds.

achy bones the more weight you lose?
deedadumble replied to betty_s's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Get your vitamin D and calcium levels checked if you haven't already. I can tell my Vit d is getting low by how much I am aching. I take 50,000iu every other week. Also, don't accept the "it's 35 so it's normal" spiel from the docs. Optimal levels are 50+. -

My first 5K was around 45 min. When I finished the C25K training program I was not able to run a 5K the whole way, so I just kept adding a minute every run or every other run until I got to 5K. My last 5K I did was 35 min. That was after running for about 8 months. After the C25K program I moved on to the Hal Higdon novice half marathon training. It only takes you up to 10 miles. The theory is that adrenaline of the race will get you the extra 3 miles. I went ahead and did 11 miles as my last long run before my first half and that 2 miles extra was no problem! I think the biggest thing that the programs teach you is to persevere and keep increasing your distance or time. I really never worried about speed for the first year of running. I took off the last 4 months to get my knee injected and for plastic surgery. I'm going to be starting back on day 1 of c25k in a few weeks.

Tall Women, Tell Me Your Story!
deedadumble replied to AshleyMidwife's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I would still call you tall. I would re-ck your height at home. Three inches is a lot of height to lose! If they were trying to make sure your BMI qualified you for insurance to cover they may have made you shorter! I have been 5'11" since high school. My primary doc recently measured me at 5'10"! I'm not giving up an inch without a fight! I had a goal weight in mind of 175, but my body stopped losing at 180. I also tried not to obsess over goal weights because it wasn't something I could control. My goals are measurable: eat 60+ g of Protein a day (now 100+ so I can have good healing), drink 60+ ounces of Water a day, and exercise 60+ min a day. I'm not back to exercising yet but am planning to start in a week. I was 183 before plastics and the doc removed 4lbs of skin but put in implants and some of the tissue was put in to my butt (butt flap augmentation), so I'm thinking once the swelling is all gone and I'm not eating extra for healing purposes I might be able to make it to 175 or maybe 170. I'm ok if that doesn't happen. I wear mainly a 12 and some 10s. My hips are pretty boney now so I'm not sure if I would be able to fit in all 10s even if I lost. -

5 Weeks Post Plastics
deedadumble replied to deedadumble's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I stayed in Mexico for 13 days total. I went on a Monday, body surgery on Tuesday, face surgery on Friday, moved to the hotel on Sunday, and then came home the next Saturday. The cost is based on an individual's body and will depend on your procedures and how long the doctor thinks it will take to do the surgery. I've heard of prices from $15K-$24K for the same procedures, so I think the range is too wide to tell anyone an exact price. The three of us that were there around the same time frame had the same surgery. One took 7 hours, mine took 9 hours, and the other took 12 hours. It's really easy to get a quote by sending your photos to Dr. Sauceda at drsauceda@gmail.com. He'll get back to you within a day or two. He's out on vacation right now, but should be responding to requests. If your price is over $7,000 you can deduct $600 for airfare. Everything is included in the price except for food when you're in the hotel and tips. I spent about $400 in food and tips. I also saved up a "just-in-case" fund for complications. I haven't had any complications except for a large abdominal seroma that disappeared after a week. One of the main reasons I went with Dr. S was the support forum of past and future patients on obesityhelp.com and Facebook (for patients within a month of surgery or who have already had surgery). I would recommend joining the forum on OH and reading everything you can. -

5 Weeks Post Plastics
deedadumble replied to deedadumble's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Thanks! Pain from surgery was minimal to non-existent. I had a flare up in the nerves in my elbow (a pre-existing issue) from the garment and I took pain pills for that. The biggest thing is being so uncomfortable for so long and being restricted in movement. -

I am ecstatic. I can't wait to actually be able to go to a pool and enjoy myself without feeling self conscious. I am so happy I got the implants. I was so indecisive about it and really didn't make up my mind until I talked to the doc. -
