considering the surgery, need your help please :)
Dobeigh replied to mlnkim's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was very nervous about getting the sleeve as well. I worried about it for 3 years and when I was almost 300 pounds, I said this is not going to work! I have absolutely no regrets. This surgery is completely different than gastric bypass. It is much healthier! I had my surgery 10 weeks ago today and I've lost 44 pounds. I feel a LOT better! The first week, I regretted it. I was so sick. I didn't have to do a preop diet so my body wasn't used to not getting what it usually go. I had issues drinking enough fluids and getting in enough Protein for the first couple weeks. I was very nauseated. My head was playing tricks on me. My skin was flaking off. Then I just started forcing fluids (no matter how nauseated I felt) and eventually I felt better. I wasn't nauseated any more and I had more energy. I think I felt like crap because I wasn't drinking enough Water. You won't be hungry that first week (at least I wasn't). I've noticed my hunger is not as intense since I've had the surgery. I'm rarely hungry. Good luck you to! You will be down for at least a week, maybe even two weeks. I was almost done with nursing school and I thought I was going to have to quit and come back because I was so sick those first couple weeks. Then I started feeling better and I was able to finish nursing school. -

No drinking 30 minutes before or after meals?
Dobeigh replied to nessieberry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery Feb 26, so this Tuesday makes 6 weeks. -
Has anyone noticed a dramatic decrease in hunger around 2 months post op? All of the sudden, I'm not nearly as hungry. The only thing I can think of is less head hunger. I'm loving this though!

I think I'm going to change it up too! Pure protein!

No drinking 30 minutes before or after meals?
Dobeigh replied to nessieberry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink with my meals. Idk if I will regret it later. I also drink Coke Zero all the time. I'm a bad influence so don't do as I do! -
I needed 2 weeks but my surgeon gave me 5 weeks. I was really sick the first week. The second week, I was sore and getting used to my sleeve. It was nice being off work!

Have you tried Remicare? If you go to the remicade website, they off a discount to people who need remicade. It's like $50/infusion, depending on if you have a deductible. My rheumy wanted me to take remicade but the first couple infusions are like $200 then it goes down to $50 so I said I would wait and keep taking my enbrel until I become a nurse...

I have ankylosing spondylitis too and I'm about sick of this tylenol! That does nothing for my inflammation!
-
LoL! yes! it wasn't much puke at all! I was sleeve 5 weeks ago.
-
I just puked for the first time since I got sleeved. I ate way too fast (the way I used to eat) and all of the sudden... BLAH!!! Lesson learned!!!

I had my 1 month (really, 5 weeks) post op appointment today. My surgeon's PA told me I needed to increase my calories. I'm eating between 700-1000 calories per day. What is everyone else taking in and how many months post op are you?
-
I eat whatever I want to eat. Sometimes I make shrimp and asparagus and sometimes I eat Taco Bell. My main goal is maintaining my protein between 50-70 grams. I really LOVE Greek yogurt. I have that almost everyday for breakfast. I also have some Wonderslim products that I eat from too. Cottage cheese, laughing cow cheese, chicken salad, ham salad, beef angus burger (no bread). I do a fairly good job at getting my proteins in. I feel fine, I'm not starving to death. I just wanted to know if anyone else's doc wants them to eat 1200 calories per day? From what I've read on here, most people like to stay at 800 calories when losing and 1200 for maintenance.

This is what I'm had for lunch. Shrimp, marinaded in Hawaiian marinade and asparagus sautéed in Smartbalance butter. All tipped with lemon pepper!!! It was yum and I could barely finish it!

I had it 2 weeks post op. at first it hurt but now it doesn't and I just sip. It does make me gassy too so be careful. I mostly drink water. Also, diet coke and coke zero are BIG NO NOs!!! It hurts so bad I think because its acidic and carbonated. So I drink diet sprite or something like that. And not much of it either.

quickly full but hungry every couple hours
Dobeigh replied to KimmieMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a little more than a month out and yes, I can only eat maybe 4 or 5 bites and then I'm full. Then maybe a couple hours later I'm hungry again. It is very nice! I love my sleeve! Now if I could only fight off the bad food triggers, I'd be in there like swim wear!!! -
I had a white peach sangria from Applebees the other day and I'm one month post op. Felt good going down but I didn't even get buzzed from it.

When will pain at stomach incision site go away?
Dobeigh replied to MOBD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had quite a bit of pain with my surgery. I had surgery Feb 26 (1 month ago today!!) and I'm not having pain any more but I do feel a slight stretching sensation when I stretch my abs. It will go away. Between my second and third week, that's when I really started feeling better but I would still feel sore under my incisions whenever I would go out to the grocery or out with my friends. It is just a healing process. Good luck! -
I never knew that about weight loss! Very interesting!
-
It will come off, I promise you. We all go through stalls. Just try to get in as much Protein as you can (I know this can be hard) and drink tons of Water. I think the water is really key, though protein is important too. Good luck!

I never liked my Protein shakes either. I tried to drink them but they made me nauseated. So I started eating cottage cheese and greek yogurt. Both are awesome sources of protein and not a lot of calories. And they are HEAVEN when you haven't eaten anything since surgery, lol! I'm surprised you could eat a pickle because my taste buds were so off when I started eating soft foods that I couldn't eat anything too sweet or salty. Mashed potatoes tasted like an ash tray to me, lol!
