  1. While I admit I struggle personally with my husband losing 105lbs to my 20lbs in the last 5 months, I am so proud of him. No one can prepare you for watching your spouse shrink to literally half their size in half a year. There's no forum for spouses of wls, but I've been here on and off since he made this decision. While we've had ups and downs (with his recovery), it was still the best choice he's ever made for himself (and for us, because his life will be so much longer). This surgery really does work, he's living proof. Beyond my shallow struggles baby, I am so proud of you!

    Gay men, dates, and scars

The scars aren't big. And I think losing the weight and being happier and healthier is totally worth a few inch long scars that will fade with time.
  3. Did anyone develop new allergies after surgery? My husband was sleeved on 12-20-12 and we just ended up in ER tonight with him having an allergic reaction. He didn't eat anything new or come into contact with anything new. He's never had this kind of thing happen before. His face turned red, hot, and itchy. And by the time we got to ER it had spread to his hands, arms and belly. And then hives started popping up. He's safe now, hes getting IV meds, but we are worried this will happen again. We are curious if this could have anything to do with the surgery?
  4. My husband is 10 days post op and craving orange juice. I know he can't have it now, but any idea when (or if) he can have it again?

    One day post op

Yeah he's been walking. He was doing very well walking around the hospital floor. He'd do about 5 laps around the whole ward at a time, and he does excellent with his incentive breathing thing. The dr said he could prolly bring two of them all the way to the top. And we got the gas strips. How many of those can he take at once?
  6. My husband was sleeved yesterday, and he's in a lot of pain in his stomach. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how long the severe pain will last? His op took longer than usual because he was a "special case" due to his tall height. Dr said they had to keep repositioning the instruments, I wonder if this is causing him to be in more pain than the average. We are home now and his drain is out. Also, anyone have any suggestions on how to help him get some gas out? I think that's causing him a lot of discomfort as well. Any feedback would be awesome. I hate seeing him in so much pain, although I know it'll all be worth it eventually when it improves and lengthens our lives together.
