Weight and body image
Taradawn15 replied to JeffA70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would agree that I am very aware of weight and food all around me, however I don't think I'm judging people by it. I make a very clear effort to never judge based on weight because I know exactly how that feels and how unfair it is. An as for food I am more aware for sure, and sometimes I think to myself I wish you could truly understand how much portion control plays a huge factor but I know that since they haven't been through this journey they really won't understand, but there's no judgement about it really, I fact sometimes I wish I could have just one more meal like that, where I could eat most of what's on my plate and really enjoy it, not that I want to go back because I am very happy with the choice I made to start this journey I just sometimes miss the not knowing and or caring about every bite I take. However I will say my own body image has been a huge struggle for me, I get complimented often and it's nice, makes me a bit uncomfortable but that's ok. But I to when I look in the mirror see someone else, and buying clothes has been. Huge challenge for me, I don't know how to dress as a normal sized person and it is very frustrating but all part of the journey I guess! Thanks for the read it was a nice was to start the day. -
Oct Sleevers....whatcha eating?
Taradawn15 replied to AvasmommyRN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh my gosh, we are in the same boat, lol. I am having my endoscopy done today in couple oh hours. My doc said the same thing about scar tissue, I asked him what happens if there is scar tissue that needs removing and he wasn't so clear about that, hmm! Part of me is not sure I really want it to change, I can eat and still sometimes get really hungry but just can't have anything that expands to much like the pastas a bread. Will shall see I guess. -
Is anyone planning to have their gallbladder removed when you have your surgery?
Taradawn15 replied to WeeWers's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If mine had not already removed my doc would have removed mine. It def depends on surgeon but I know that it was common practice for my surgeon. -

Well, just realized that was a bit to much skin to be showing, lol! Sorry but I get excited to have a place to share the success and struggles of this life style with people who really understand what I'm going through and are truly supportive. I have really appreciated everyone support over the last 7 months! -

I had very similar negative feedback from most people. Luckily my husband was not one of them and has supported me through the whole thing. I think it is scary for other people because they are scared you are going to change and they like the relationship the way it is. And honestly I have changed, I have lost a few friends along the way but mostly all my friends and family can finally see why it was so important to me to lose weight. Finally my weight is not controlling my life, I can got to Disneyland with my kids and go on the rides SAFELY, I can run after my son, I don't feel like I'm always embarrassing my family by being the fat mom/wife and it feels amazing. Through it all I'm not sure what I would have done without my husbands constant support. You need to think about weather this person really wants what's best for you and is just worried or if he is someone who will be running for the hills when you get yourself back because he can't walk all over you anymore. Whatever you do, do what's best for you and don't let all the negative Nancy's get in your way.

I work with a trainer at the YMCA, we have a family membership and we all love it. It's got something for all of us and from the front desk staff to trainers to childcare all the employees have been wonderful. I love my trainer, he pushes me but never makes me feel bad. Good luck on your journey!

I had half a sandwich yesterday, my first bread since before surgey and it was very painful for me so I may never be able t eat it. How are you all doing? I would love to hear from people who have a similar timeline to me. -
October Sleevers-Weight Loss Stall/Slower Loss Now
Taradawn15 replied to Holly5.3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My NUT also said between 900 and 1000 calories a day I also work out. I am just coming out of a 2 week stall where I also gained 2 pounds, but lost 2 inches so who knows, I feel like the father away from our surgery date we get more it really does very person to person. I am going to have to work out and very closely watch what I eat forever to keep the weight off, but I am totally ok with that. Good luck -
Lipo for thighs...need advice
Taradawn15 replied to FromFlabToFab's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I wear either the runners shorts or tight workout pants and never have a problem with riding up and I have a lot of excess skin there. But these help hold it all in and are super comfy. -
There's also a ton of Healthier baked good recipes online that have added Protien. I made some really yummy cookies with pumpkin and chocolate chips in it. The great thing is it only made 8 cookies so my family all hd one and took one for a snack the next day so they where not hanging around tempting me to have more than 1. Good luck

Those who had over heating and sweating issues prior to surgery chime in..
Taradawn15 replied to Heather Meyer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still sweat a bunch when I exercise, however in my everyday life it's not a big problem like it use to be. I use to carry around extra clothes with me so I could change my shirt when/if I needed to. I actually keep sweaters with me now for the evenings or breezes cause I get a chill which is the first time in my life. I still live in flip flops, but that's because I love them. -
I use an exercise ball and I bought small ones for my kids, so they can try and do it right along with me. It's fun and love working out with mommy.

Hey Ladies, Yesterday was my 6 months anniversary, I have lost about 80 pounds and have bout 30 more to go. My husband is in the Army and left on a year long tour to Korea when I was about 10 weeks out from surgery. He comes home in middle June for a few weeks vacation, and I am so nervous about it. I have lost a lot of weight since he left, about 50 pounds, however I'm not so nervous about that, it's all my extr skin. In clothes I can hide all this extra flappy skin I have everywhere, I feel good and confident in my clothes, however in the bedroom, undressed there is no hiding it and I am so uncomfortable and nervous by it. I should say that I have an amazing husband who has loved me through everything, didn't care when I was overweight and has never made me feel bad about myself, so I know the worry has more to do with my own internal thoughts than with my husband, just wondering if anyone else has felt this way and how you overcame it. Thanks

To tell or not to tell...
Taradawn15 replied to ChaoticBliss's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know this isn't the same because my girls aren't teens, but I choose not to tell my 9 and 6 year old girls. My 9 year old already is starting to think a lot about her body because of kids at school and on the bus. I really was worried about her thinking she needed to change herself to be what others want her to be and she so impressionable at this age. I also did not tell my family, only my husband knows and I am so thankful now at 6 months out that he is the only one. Of course my children have noticed my weight loss and eating choices, I just continually mention how important it is to me to be healthy so I can be the best mom and role model I can be. I know a lot of people don't agree with not telling but I am happy we keep the info to ourselves. Good luck -
I eat dessert a very small one, once or twice a week. It makes it so I'm not craving it, I also like trying some healthier dessert options. Yesterday I had banana with cinnamon and a bit of honey on it. It was so yummy

I eat apples and peanut butter, the light laughing cow cheese, sugar free carnation instant breakfast has some good Protien and can be filling, also dannon makes a good light Greek yogurt, it's only 80 calories and 12g Protien. Also sometimes some pre sliced meat. I also make egg muffins with egg whites, cheese and veggis, you could also put ham in it, I just freeze them and toss one in the microwave for an easy on the go snack. They re about 80 calories and very low in sugar and about 6-8g Protien. I personally have to have healthy snack easily available or I will grab something that's not so good.
