Somerset Medical Center has one each month.....maybe about 30 minutes from East Brunswick

DO NOT wait until tomorrow....call your doctor today......now

Drinking 4-5 days per week, 2-3 drinks sometimes 7 or 8.......certainly sounds like an alcohol problem to me.

Well since money is an issue I would say definitley DO NOT buy too much if you can not return. Immediately post op depending on your doctors plan you will maybe need broth, creamed Soups, Protein drinks, sugar free ice pops. The Protein Drinks are the most expensive, but very important. Don't buy a huge tub of mix only to find you don't like it. Vitamin Shoppe sells single serve packets so you can try them. GNC and Vitamin Shoppe both take items back if you are not satisfied. So save your receipts. There isn't anything I did in particular before my surgery. Good Luck!

Measuring amounts-and protein shake ? please help!
Chele H replied to Cyr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just an FYI.....weight and volume are not the same. A scale is good for measuring meat, cheese etc. Example....a half cup of dry cereal has practically no weight. If you put it on a digital scale I would think you would get way more than half cup if you weighed out 4 ounces. 4 ounces of dense protein like meat is going to smaller than 4 ounces of something light like corn flakes. Not that I saying that anyone is eating cereal. I am saying that 4oz is not always a half cup and vice versa....it depends on what you are measuring. I just measured out 1/2 cup of Fiber One cereal into a measuring cup and it only weighed 1 ounce on my scale. -
Measuring amounts-and protein shake ? please help!
Chele H replied to Cyr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are two different types of measuring cups.....liquid and dry/solid. The liquid measuring cup is the glass one with a pour spout, they usually list ounces. Mine is made by Pyrex. You can get one at Walmart or Target. The dry cups are the ones that stack inside each other. pour your liquids into the measuring cup to measure before you eat. If you buy pre made sugar free pudding, they are usually 4 oz. cups. I would use the dry measuring cup(1/2 cup size) to measure out your yogurt. I drank Premier from the day I got home from surgery, wasn't too heavy. You can thin it out with some Water if it is too thick. -
If you are eating three meals a day, meeting your Fluid and Protein goals why are you looking for snack ideas? It's not a good habit to start. You may not have the full sensation just yet so you should be measuring your portions according to your surgeon's recommendations. If you are eating the amounts your doctor recommends then I doubt you are undereating. Snacking could be a slippery slope to grazing......just my opinion. But if you feel you need a snack....cheese sticks, cottage cheese, half a Protein Bar. If these foods are on your list for only 3 weeks post op.

Some people just need more time than others.....You had major surgery, your body needs rest to heal. I was very tired for several weeks. Some people were at the mall 4 days post op. I could never had done that. Have you tried Vitamin Water Zero or G2? Maybe your electrolytes are off. Have you checked your blood pressure? Maybe it is low. I hope you feel better soon.

Try some Vitamin Water Zero or G2, the electrolytes will help with the headaches.

Are you eating something first? I take Nature Made, they do not make me nauseous but I always eat something or drink a protein drink first. -
Anyone get acid indigestion AFTER the sleeve?
Chele H replied to Sherry S's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Please Google how your body becomes dependant on acid blockers. The more you take them the more you need them. I understand that some people must take them because the reflux is so bad and can cause damage to the esophagus. If the reflux is mild, try weaning off the acid blockers. It takes a little time and can be difficult. I successfully weaned myself off of Prilosec using Zantac and DGL Licorice. Many times I just wanted to pop a Prilosec but I used Tums to help. I still take Zantac but no longer need Prilosec. -
Miralax is non habit forming and works very well. At the beginning I would use it about 3 times a week. Now that I am eating a full variety of foods I only need it on a rare occasion.

Take an acid reducer or acid blocker....reflux can be serious if left untreated.

Liquid Diet help!
Chele H replied to gettinghealthymom1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Vitamin Water Zero kept my electrolytes in balance and helped with headaches. I drank at least 2 bottles a day. By day four or five my hunger and bad mood subsided a bit. I also went ot bed early....lol You've got this! -
You may have had low blood sugar yesterday as your body is detoxing from all of the processed foods, sugar, etc.. I drank a lot of Vitamin Water Zero to keep my electrolytes in balance and it helped with headaches. By day four or five the intense hunger and bad mood subsided for me. You've got this!

Anyone taking NSAIDS or steroids postop
Chele H replied to Kindle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had shoulder surgery November 1st and have now developed synvositis...inflammation of the lining of the shoulder joint....very painful. Just started 10 day round of prednisone after I called my bariatric surgeon for the OK. Taking otc generic Prilosec just in case although I hate taking it because of the dependency potential. I successfully weaned myself off of it several months ago. FYI....my bariatric surgeon also was OK with me using Flector Patches....it's an NSAID patch you put right on the spot where you have pain. If you haven't tried it ,you might want to. It takes a few hours to get relief, but it helped me until I got an MRI and diagnosis. Good luck, I hope you feel better. -
Vitamin Water Zero helped me tremendously during the liquid diet...kept my electrolytes balanced and helped with the headaches and weak feeling.

What's your pre-op diet consist of?/Can I cook my veggies?
Chele H replied to hdd55146's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I was only allowed liquids....up to 5 low carb Protein drinks per day, broth, Water, Vitamin Water Zero.....that's it, no salad. Does your plan specifically say salad or does it say veggies? If you can have zucchini, spinach, etc. then I can't see any reason why you couldn't cook them...steamed with no butter of course. -
Clear fluid ideas?

Decaf iced tea, Vitamin Water Zero -
As long as it is strained with nothing in it I can't see why not. Are you thinking it may be too spicy? You can call you nutritionist or surgeon and ask.

What are your favorite things to wear now that the weight is gone?
Chele H replied to abbyrn27's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Skinny jeans with riding boots or Uggs.......I would never wear skinny jeans at 200lbs and my calves would not fit into boots. -

Sleeve date Dec 15. Started my preop diet 5 days ago. I can eat a piece of shoe leather right now, I am so hungry. Help!
Chele H replied to muffin70043's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try drinking Vitamin Water Zero or G2, it will help because they have electrolytes which will help with the weakness. My hunger sudsided after the 5th day. Warm broth sipped from a mug helped me too. How many grams of Protein are in your shakes? I used Premier and there is 30 grams per drink. Maybe you need one with more protein? I had a wedding half way through my two week pre op diet. I went and enjoyed all the food. I went back to striclty liquids the next day and my surgery went fine. I am not saying cheating is OK, but going forward no more solid foods and you should be ok. Maybe you can have some sugarfree ice pops? Good luck, I know it is hard.....you can do it! -
Yup.....never.
