Yup, 300mg twice a day for six months....I am on my last refill and crossing my fingers that no gallbladder issues arise, so far so good.

Over $70k donated to her family to help pay for the surgery: http://foxnewsinsider.com/2013/12/30/strangers-donate-more-60k-save-alexis-shapiros-life
  3. Could be a stomach spasm. I had those the first day. I think a leak is a more constant pain along with chills and fever. Call your surgeon and tell them what is happening to put your mind at ease.
  4. I tried Isopure unflavored Protein powder....it made everything taste terrible to me and it smelled like sour milk. Wasted my money.

    Protein Absorbtion?

My nutritionist never said that, had samples of Premier Protein in her office and gave me some. Which brands does your nutritionist recommend?
  6. I do not go out often but when I do sometimes I order an appetizer or a cup of chili and tell the server I want it served with everyone's else's meals. Kid's menu choices are not usually the best options(mac & cheese, pizza) but they are improving in some places. If there isn't an appetizer I like I order a regular entree and take half home.
  7. Ooooh, yes.....I completely forgot about sugar free ice pops....ate lots of those the first 2 weeks post op.
  8. G2 is sugar free as well as Powerade Zero. The way that I look it is....even though apple juice has sugar I'd rather drink it cut 50% with Water than not get enough fluids in. Just my opinion.
  9. I am 5 months out and I still can't get that much in. Just do the best you can, you are so early in the healing process. Try different temperature Water, decaf tea, G2, etc. I still drink diluted apple juice because it gos down easier. At the beginning I actually used a clock and sipped every 5 minutes...I watched the clock. Then after a day or two I sipped every 3 minutes. Good luck.

    Heart Burn?

My surgeon puts all of his sleeve patients on a PPI for a minimum of one month post op. Please call your surgeon......protect your esophagus from that acid ASAP.
  12. Is your insurance through your employer? Regardless of the insurance company, if your insurance is provided by your employer the coverage is totally dependent of which policy your employer chooses and if they choose a bariatric surgery exclusion. I urge you to contact your human resources department and/or the actual insurance company and get specific written guidelines. Good luck!

    Help? Post Ops

Did you get a post op diet to follow? I had Protein drinks, broth, farina, SF ice pops and SF pudding. Don't buy too much, you won't be able to eat much at first and you will be moving through the liquid stage to purees in a week or two. Good luck!

Craving Pizza? Low Carb Flatout Pizza

I haven't but I am sure you can. They are so thin and I cook them on pizza stone that is piping hot so it's crispy enough for me.

Craving Pizza? Low Carb Flatout Pizza

Low carb tortillas work well too for a thin crispy crust

How Many Calories Are You Having?

I am 4'10" started at 200lbs, surgery was 7/22 and now weigh 157. I have not counted calories per say but follow a low carb diet. Don't actually count the carbs either. After years of doing Atkins I know which foods to avoid. I start each day with a Premier Protein drink, a mid morning snack is usually a mini Babybel cheese or 1/3 of a Quest bar. lunch could be leftovers from the night before(one or two meatballs, chicken with broccoli, lentil soup) or some deli turkey and swiss rolled around a pickle spear. Afternoon snack sometimes is a greek yogurt or a glass of low fat milk with sugar free chocolate syrup. dinner is meat and low carb veggies like broccoli or green Beans. If I am hungry again after that I might have a couple of apple slices with Peanut Butter. Don't know how many calories it is but I do know it is radically less than I used to eat. Working with a trainer I am sure you need more calories. My exercise has been riding my bike and using my Gazelle. Cold weather has ended my bike riding and tendonitis in my knee has limited the Gazelle use. With all that training you may have lost more than you think but gained muscle. Your type of question is posted often and some of the vets will tell you to mix things up.....up your calories, do more cardio, less cardio, etc. Good luck.

    What To Drink After Vsg

Diluted apple juice....I find it is much easier to drink than plain water
  19. I really like Quest as well. chocolate Chip cookie dough, cinnamon roll are pretty good. They are a little pricey so If you email quest they will send you 2 bars to sample before you buy.
  20. BJ's Club....$17.99 for 12 and they accept coupons. I bought $5 off coupons on Ebay(10 of them for $2.65) so I am paying $12.99 for a 12 pack. I drink one everyday for breakfast and get 30 grams of protein to start my day.
  21. Amazing how much better you feel, right? The generic brand at Walmart, Target or costco is way cheap too.

    Water argh!

I find that different bottled waters have slightly different tastes.....try a few different kinds. For me Dasani tastes the best. Also for tap water, I mix about 60% water and 40% apple juice and it goes down very easily.
  23. it's not really plastic, it's gelatin, it melts....it melted before your surgery : )
  24. think about how small that capsule is compared to what you are eating now at 13 months out of surgery...right?

Seriously, veterans, how long does hair loss last?

I have read this numerous times on all of the many support sites I belong to and from personal experience I do not necessarily agree.....I had breast reduction 5 years ago which is a pretty major surgery and suffered no hair loss from it. Seems more like the drastic reduction in calories. Just my own guess because of my own experience. 3 months out now from VSG and starting to see a lot of shedding in the shower.
