How long for our little tummies to empty?
shrinkadonk posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Being that I no longer feel true hunger, its hard to know how long it takes to empty my tummy. I was told it can hold 3-4 oz at a time. I'm guessing certain foods take longer? water less? I'm completely ignorant on this. anyone have a clue? -

Searching for encouragement
shrinkadonk replied to Stranger 123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow. To imply someones doctor is not good because he performed the surgery differently or used different technique is not only harsh but its a statement that does zero good after the fact if it were true. I have noticed that the method of surgery, diet afterwards and even pre op diet varies from different regions of the country AND based on the size/health/pre-existing scar tissue of the patient. You can not make an inflammatory blanket statement like that and not expect to ruffle a few feathers. -
HELP! Anyone Post OP on Asacol or any other meds that cant be crushed?
shrinkadonk posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm miserable......My gastro. says I cant crush Asacol because it breaks down in the intestines (I have crohnes disease) and my Nutritionist and surgeon said all meds need to be crushed for the first month. So now what? Gastro gave me an enema form of meds (fun) that I am taking nightly but ts not working? Anyone have ideas? I've called him 3 times and have been told there is nothing else. -

HELP! Anyone Post OP on Asacol or any other meds that cant be crushed?
shrinkadonk replied to shrinkadonk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much for the reply. Believe it or not, they dont make the suppository form any longer (canasa) but maybe I could talk to the doc about finding a compound pharmacy to do so. I'll be 3 weeks post op tomorrow. I put a call into my nutritionist, I am concerned the coating may get "stuck" in my pyloric something or another, which she explained could not handle seeds, pickles, etc. for 6 months. Anyway, I am miserable right now so I'm willing to try anything. Thanks again for your reply, and if you are a car mechanic, I wish you were local, because your pretty darn smart! Thanks for the suggestions! -
All of my December sleevers...
shrinkadonk replied to blkdiamond377's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would DEFINITLY try to get more Protein and liquids in. I'm no expert, but I was sleeved on the 13th. I get in 2 Protein shakes (with skim milk) and at least 3 16 oz bottles of Water a day (usually more) as well as a pureed "meal" which is about 2-3 oz of protein as well.at least once a day. Are you uriniating enugh to even flush out extra weight? Try eating more. I know its hard to do. GOOD LUCK -
All of my December sleevers...
shrinkadonk replied to blkdiamond377's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved 12/13 Start weight 221 Pre opt weight 215 Current weight 189 (which for the record I can't believe) -
I'm 13 days post opt and I drink a protein shake in am (with skim milk) and another in the pm but in-between I'm lucky if I can choke down a few teaspoons of Greek yogurt (feels heavy and gets stuck). I can manage a couple oz of cream of tomato or Cheddar cheese soup but that's it. At this point I'm down 13 lbs but having serious "buyers remorse " with this sleeve. Please tell me what your eating and if your further out please tell me it gets better. Tia!

A Note to Newbies Who are Wondering if They Did the Right Thing:
shrinkadonk posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 14 days out and prior to this I had some days where I sat in tears of regret. Start weight 221 ore opt weight 215. Today 3 really awesome things happened: 1. I stepped on scale and was 200 lbs. It FEELSO GOOD to know that this week is the LAST time I will see that number. 2. I ran into someone I haven't seen in a few months and she told me I LOOKED LIKE I LOST WEIGHT!!!! Music to my ears! 3. I moved on to the pureed stage and ate a pureed meatball for lunch. Sheer heaven!! An orgasm in my mouth! Considering how I was second guessing this decision I just thought I would share these moments of joy with anyone wondering if they did the right thing......hang in there, little triumphs are in YOUR future too! -
