I here you, but let me just tell you, private hospitals that dont have you jump though all those damn hoops can have you approved and scheduled in a week. I got approval in three days, and scheduled for next month after one appointment.

Dude, could be be anymore in the same boat? I have no real friends and its been quite troubling for a long time but you know what? Thats OK, I am going through a time of personal growth and I have FOR SURE outgrown my friends. The best thing for me was to just not have any contact, I got rid of them off facebook, and installed a call blocker on my phone. I know it sounds extreme but hanging onto people like that in you life just makes it worse because you will always be let down. If they try to contact you just explain that you have been hurt, OR don't even respond at all. It was an amazing weight off my shoulders.

Thats not a friend. You would be well served to never see that person again.

this is the type of bureaucracy that is sucking the system dry. I would recommend looking for a different group. Explore private hospitals in your area.

You know what? I think this is pretty normal. This might also be unpopular, I dont know, I havent been on this sight this long but I will tell you what my surgeon told me. Don't be crazy with the Vitamins and Protein drinks. If you just CANNOT stand them at this stage, let it be for a few days until the trauma of this all wears off. Chance are you are not going to get depleted just because you took a week off. Think about all the weeks you ate like hell and never took any vitamins. In the future you will need to suck it up but right now just don't stress. My surgeon also does not have us do Protein Drinks. I go to an upscale private hospital and he is actually of the opinion that most bariatric surgeons are in bed with the supplement companies and think that protein supplements are WAY oversold.

Feeling discouraged--sleeved Dec 3
NurseGrace replied to MaryDrew's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
over a pound a day is pretty good but I have to ask... What do you expect if you are unwilling to exercise? Are you unable? Did you get this surgery thinking it would just fall off you with no effort? I'll save my sympathies for someone actually trying. Just a little tough love - I am not trying to be mean but I think you might need a reality check here. This mentality is disastrous. -
I am a 24 year old married female. I am about to have the sleeve and all is well for the most part. My husband is not 100 on board with me, but I do not require 100% support from people around me, but the real problem I am having is with my parents, particularly my mother. She has had wild mood swings for as long as I can remember and she really walks the line of being intrusive all through my life, from small things like telling me my friends were bad people to large things like not giving my teenage self any privacy in terms of basic things like knocking on the door before she walks into my room. I don't wish to give the wrong impression because my mom is my mom and I love her regardless but I can feel my relationship with her being strained. ESPECIALLY when it comes to weight loss surgery. She swings back and forth from begging me not to do it to acting like she is on board and supportive. The giving and the taking of the support out from under me is crushing me spiritually. Not only that but she will then dictate to me how much I should weigh or what my goal weight should be and when and how I should be exercising. I know she is not trying to do this but she is manipulating me emotionally and I have no idea how to handle it. I'm honestly considering just not mentioning it and doing it anyway but that feels like a betrayal to my mother (and I know she will play it up like that) and it also feels wrong because I am still on her insurance plan as well so its not like she wont see the expense. Does anyone have any experience with this? How should I move forward? Are their magical words I can say to get the point across that she needs to back off me without hurting her feelings? I feel like her emotional hostage, and I resent that but I truly believe she has no idea she does this to people.

Thanks Juny. Honestly this problem with us runs deeper than just the surgery but I think you are right about pulling back for a while. I have to go down there this weekend but I can pick and choose conversations carefully enough and I have gotten more skilled at shutting down conversations I don't care to entertain but if she picks up on it if I'm abrupt about it then its even worse.

First Day Of "soft" Food... Already Not Going Well...
NurseGrace replied to Strangefruit's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I would say that the turkey was probably too much. The egg on its own might have been fine, but some people dont tolerate that well. Next time wait for instructions. -
Is Chardonnay considered a clear liquid?
NurseGrace replied to Raven21's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Honestly, this is the type of thing I don't like to see here. BUT - I get it, so you wont get any judgement from me but here is what I do have to say on the topic. Most surgeons would not touch you with a ten foot poll if they knew you were drinking alcohol at this stage, because you are setting yourself to have problems. That goes straight to your liver (which you should be reducing at this point) and ultimately if you do poorly, it reflects poorly on them. You should be following your rules ONE HUNDRED PERCENT for at least the first 18 months post op and in the months leading up to your surgery. If you cannot commit to that, I question your candidacy for something like this (from a healthcare standpoint) As a patient - I get it, but I don't really approve, not that it matters. -
i think some people go over board
NurseGrace replied to drelex210's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I think this is probably true, but it also depends on the person. Someone who has serious food addictions may not be able to just eat a reasonable amount of pizza because its a trigger thing for them. I think we cannot concern ourselves too much with other peoples rules. I never say much about other peoples diet unless they are clearly asking for help and I can tell that they are having way too much sugar or something which is undeniably a problem. -
any do pre op diet longer than 2 weeks
NurseGrace replied to pammie37's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I am 33 days out from surgery currently. I am considering starting the 800cal liquid diet now. Originally it was planned for 10 days preop but I am seriously considering starting tomorrow at day 32. Is this a bad idea? -
Hi! YES, my EGD is Jan 14 and my sleeve is Jan 22. I am excited although I did not know I would end up getting a sleeve a week ago. I had always sort of planned on having an RNY but my surgeon feels that at my age (24) I will do better with a sleeve. Am I correct in understanding that the weight loss rate is basically the same as RNY patients? Or like within 5% which pretty much makes it comparable in my mind.
