Has anyone ran a 99 degree fever 3 days out?

Just call the office to be on the safe side. They will probably tell you to watch it and call again if it goes above 100 and a half but just make a phone call anyway.

    New and ANNOYED

Who un enrolled you, the bariatric program or your insurance company? to me it sounds like you need to get on the phone with your insurance company because your coordinator seems to be wasting your time.

    Horrible evening!

I'm sorry about the chair thing, thats terrible. I have some heavy relatives and some of the chairs at my parents place are old and MIGHT not hold them, I was always extremely careful and strategic to be sure that they never had to sit in those. I certainly wouldnt give a glued together chair to an obese person and it was kind of insensitive to not pay attention to that.

    Wife isn't supportive

This is pretty complex, but I will throw my two cents in. All things aside, we have to take care of ourselves, and we have to maintain our individuality, even in marriage. You cannot force her to be on board. She might be scared, have feeling about "the easy way out", have financial concerns, or she might not "get" why someone would want this because you said she does not have a weight problem. I want to let you know though, something you said set up a red flag for me. You said she is the cook, you make deals but she wont plan. This may or may not be the case but it sounds as though you are shoving off your responsibility for what you eat onto her, and if she doesn't pick up the slack then its not your fault you are not eating right. We all have to be prepared to fend for ourselves. I can tell you that meal planning is NO small task, its work intensive and expecting someone to cook for you daily is asking a lot more than you probably realize. I would say something to her along the lines of "Look, so far we haven't gotten very far with this conversation so this is what I want you to understand - You opinion DOES matter to me, this surgery is also very important to me, I want to have some kind of understanding here between us so I can decide how I want to move forward" Something like that - I can't imagine a woman not responding to something worded in a similar fashion to that. It took a while to get my husband on board with me doing this, even the day of surgery I don't really know if he was ALL in or not, but we came to an understanding and I was prepared to deal with things on my own if I really needed too. Don't try to manipulate her into agreeing that she is happy about it if she isn't.
  5. Day 7 and feeling fantastic!

  6. Mine lasted spot on about 2 hours. Some go quicker than that. I had previously had a lapband although it had been removed prior to this surgery I still had some scar tissue to work around.
  7. Sooo believe me guys, I tried to just use the search funtion for this but didn't come up with much, I'm sure I am not the first person to ask this but my terminology must be special, I don't know. Anyway, I was sleeved on 1/22 (last tuesday) and it is now Sunday. Healing up well, feeling FINE except for one thing is worrying me. I have not had a bowel movement (not even a tiny one lol) since the morning of surgery. I know I am taking in mostly liquids but still, I would have expected SOMETHING. I did have a post on the bowel prep from hell that was highly unusual and harsh so I could have just really been cleaned out because I don't FEEL constipated, I was just someone who was extremely regular before this. Please give me some feedback.

    Itchy Incisions..

Oh my goodness, I am so happy to hear that. I was actually thinking about this post wondering if you were ok before I laid down for a nap earlier. The thought crossed my mind that the stitching material could be to blame but I wasn't on the computer anymore. I am so glad you have some relief.
  10. Young Man/Lady Perhaps you are unfamiliar with the way the internet works, so let me shed some light on this subject matter. When you post something to the internet by way of online forums, chat rooms, or otherwise you are opening yourself up to all kinds of things, luckly here on this site things are well moderated (Thank you, mods) so you get to bypass a lot of the flaming, harassment, and generally trolling that one might expect on the internet. Also, these forums are a public place for the members to communicate thoughts, feelings, and information between Vertical Sleeve Talk members. By in large this thread has been EXTREMELY informative, and pretty close to as "on topic" as you could reasonably expect. If you feel that you have gained all the information you care to know about this particular subject, feel free to delete the thread, although that is ill-advised because the entire point of a site like this is to build up an archive of information. I have not once seen you offer a useful response to any of the people here who have taken their time to offer you information, or even so much as a thank you. Forums are a give and a take, and you need to learn how to give a little. Not every single reply to anything will ever be exactly spot-on what you are looking for, but you should be thankful for all the experienced people here interacting with you.
  11. I could be wrong because it was hard to find stats for this, but without the wrap itself its closer to 100 calories.

    Potty troubles?

I was thinking about making a pot of coffee! I have to go to bed early tonight because I need to take someone to an appointment in the morning so I am not going there tonight but tomorrow AM I'm giving it a shot. I don't feel bad though at all, I don't have that "need to go but can't" feeling, I just wasn't sure if going this long is OK or not.

    Tuesday is my day

Mine was last tuesday. I was tired after surgery so the nurse kindly sent my visitors home after they talked to be for a few minutes. I was comfortable the whole time except for RIGHT when I woke up, and even then it wasn't TERRIBLE and they managed it fast. The only thing I wish I had purchased BEFORE surgery that I wanted when I got home was a heating pad for my shoulder. The effects of the gas on my shoulder seem to be more extreme for me than for other people. Just something to consider.
  14. Consider ordering the fish with no bun, or part of a bun. It's softer (I know its fried, but I'm thinking in terms of what you will be able to eat without getting sick on) Its 230 calories (enough to get you through the day) 11 grams of Protein, and 10 carbs. It was hard to find EXACT calories and information for the other it did have slightly more protein clocking in at 13 grams and less carbs without the tortilla (5g) What worries me though is its only 100 calories like that. Is that going to be enough for you on an active day without feeling faint?

    Ow ow ow!

I HATE being the center of attention, when someone starts questioning me on weight loss and complimenting me, its great, but if it goes on for too long or calls a ton of attention my way suddenly I get very uncomfortable.

    Itchy Incisions..

STOP THAT NONSENSE (scratching) IMMEDIATELY lol the nurse in me is shrieking in horror. Our nails are sooooo dirty. We should be keeping our hands OFF. If they told you to put some oil on it thats fine but ya realllllly gotta stop inflaming the laparoscopy sites.
  17. I was not completely alone but I was left alone for large portions of the day and here is what I can say about it. Reconsider the bed thing, you may want to split things up so you have some at your bed and some at a chair because it was very difficult for me to get down into bed and then up from bed again. A recliner is ideal but I am getting buy with a large chair and a foot stool just fine. at least for the first few days you wont want to bend over either so try to have everything you need at waist level at least The only other problem I can foresee is most hospitals WILL NOT let you leave in a Taxi so SOMEONE is going to have to pick you up.
  18. Day 5, woke up feeling good. Went to the store with my hubs.

  19. Highlights from day 4 post op? cannot tolerate anything sweet. makes me want to gag

    Blenderized diet

this is kind of crazy to me, I have never heard this, but there could be a reason for it. I would be extremely cautious about it because I had a hard time getting in 64 oz of CLEAR liquid and I would be worried about puking that early out.
  21. hmm I would imagine you can still have surgery with no problem, they may want you medicated for it though
  22. my heart rate was extremely high the day I had my ekg done - I was extremely nervous. for me, they let me set for a while, talked to be about other stuff and ran the strip again. it was still elevated but it dipped below 100 bpm

    Puree a little early?

I mean, its your choice, a day here or a day there PROBABLY will not mean the end of the world for you, but I think you may find that you will be surprised at how little you can really tolerate.
  24. Hey guys, this is about my 4th day post op and I just woke up kind of miserable. The drain as been bothering me since day one but its all I can do not to focus on it. the placement of the stitches pull no matter what I do, it hurts, and I'm becoming increasingly emotional about it. I only have till wednesday to deal with it, and I don't really want to bother the office because there are no signs of infection or anything like that, I'm just incomfortable with it. Does anyone know any tricks? Right now I have it tucked into something called a spibelt that goes under your shirt that looks like this picture I attached so it doesnt hand or swing around and dangle, that helps SOME but its really where its coming out of my body that's really bothering me.
