Losing Slow At Very Beginning?
NurseGrace replied to LoserMama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm on day 8 and haven't lost anything remarkable either. -
Waiting on insurance...and eating my last " normal for me meals"
NurseGrace replied to FatMamaw's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just be careful. I had food funerals too, but still managed to lose weight, even prior to my preop diet. People have strong feelings about whether or not this is healthy behavior. For me, its hard to say. I had Chinese "one last time" about three times, pizza, and Red Robin chicken Sandwiches all before I needed to start my diet. I still lost 8 pounds during this period of time though because I may have had one huge disgustingly bad meal, but it was all I had that day. Just don't binge eat all day every day, and be ready to stop this when you need too. -
A tat that has already been ruined will not go back to normal. The pigment has already been distorted.

How likely is it to gain weight after?
NurseGrace replied to Harpo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's easier than people think to gain weight with the sleeve. There is a popular thread right now of a woman who self admittedly was eating too much, too soon, and at 7 weeks out has gained 20 pounds. She doesn't disclose any symptoms that would seem to indicate that the gain is from some other source, but will not acknowledged the fact that in previous posts she had admitted to not being able to stop eating. Even though she is in the soft stage still, she has gained. IT IS POSSIBLE, and in my opinion, this type of thing is why psych evaluations are SO important. You CAN gain weight. YOU CAN GAIN WEIGHT. YOU CAN GAIN WEIGHT. -
ummm yeah kind of. Ask for a picture lol. More than likely they will not release biohazardous medical waste (thats what it is after its out of us) to you anyway so spare yourself the embarrassment lol.

Today i found out that i streched my pouch
NurseGrace replied to LadiWobs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That sounds like your answer -
So this morning was day 7 for me, and so I ventured to pull out the scale. I weigh the same as surgery day...... The day after surgery I was +3 pounds which I know was from the fluids and stuff, and now I am back to my surgery day weight. Which is fine, I lost 20 pounds right before surgery and I just had a huge traumatic thing happen to my body so I'm not really flipping out or anything like that but I am sort of curious how common that is. I read so many posts of people talking about losing so much that first week due to not taking in much that I sort of expected SOMETHING today. I go to the doctor tomorrow to get my drain out, and after that I will be feeling SO much better and I think it will come off easier when I have a little more range of movement and stuff.

THAT IS A CRAZY WAIT. Can you contact your insurance company to ask for a prior authorization to step out of network considering the situation you find yourself in?
-
So when you say they dont have any availability what do you mean? Have they told you flat out that they WILL NOT see you? I would NOT pay cash for an eval if you have insurance, I would press them harder, that is unacceptable.

When was the first time post op you went UP in weight?
NurseGrace replied to canuckpaisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

soup question - 2 weeks out
NurseGrace replied to canuckpaisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yeah I dont think you have anything to worry about. The soup is just running though the sleeve, especially if you took it slow. That is why we are supposed to swear off anything we need a spoon for after the healing period of time. -
YEP, I just wanted to make a note of that because sometimes we are overly emotional post op and I didn't want OP to say something she will regret. In my personal opinion I really don't think she should say anything at all because I can't envision a way for that to go down without OP coming off as needy, but thats just my personal opinion based on my own workplace experience. I do realize that every job environment is a little different, but I know if I said something about not getting something at my place of business people would immediately think "who the hell does she think she is" lol, you know what I mean?

Hello! In my operating room experience what I can tell you is that once you are out your entire body is draped in sterile surgical fields. the only part of the body exposed is the window in which we are operating. If when you are lying flat and your boobs are still in the way we would either just push them off to the sides towards your arms. its nothing to be embarrassed or worried about. EDIT: Yes, sometimes we use tape lol

week 1 - no loss?
NurseGrace replied to NurseGrace's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it sounds like a great plan. I'm staying of the scale for a while except tomorrow I can't help it because I am going to the doctor. -
Maybe so, I can never really tell. I just don't like to encourage that type of thing, I think it breeds discord between women lol that sort of "we're joking, but not really" type of thing, you know what I mean?

That is extremely passive aggressive and most places, one or two incidences like that is grounds for termination. Extremely unprofessional. Gotta remember, these are co-workers not family and friends.
-
I think its a mistake for everyone here to start referring to your coworkers as losers, a-holes, and jealous catty women. The fact of the matter is that most of us do not put much thought into whats going on with our co-workers unless we happen to be particularly friendly with a handful of people or something like that. I can understand hurt feelings because you had expectations because this seems like a pretty standard thing that they do but consider this - they probably don't know you well, they may or may not realize the severity of you operation, and they may or may not care, and they are not obligated too. You are putting to much stock in people who don't owe you anything. As for the phone calls, texts and e-mails, I would stop all that PRONTO. I would send back one respoce with something like "I have just undergone a major abdominal operation and will become available again on this date _____ " or something along those lines because now that I already talked to you about what they dont OWE YOU, YOU DO NOT OWE THEM all this attention either right now.

Thanks. -
I'm nervous...
NurseGrace replied to onelessfatgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would just let it out there with them, all this buildup and practicing and stuff is probably just working you up into a state of high emotion that most likely isn't necessary. I know its easier said than done but try not to have a ton of emotion wrapped up in how they take the news. You're a married, grown adult and you have made a decision. -
not I.

fake posts/profiles.......could it be?
NurseGrace replied to sweetie2003's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
You ALWAYS have to be aware of incognito advertising. I do not know for a fact that it goes on very much on this website or not, but lots of companies hire people to do nothing but make profiles on different sites around the internet indistinguishable from a real one, to say positive things about themselves. There is not usually anything site administrators can do about this because its hard to verify but there are some things you can look for to maybe be able to start to tell if this is going on or if you are suspicious of a particular post. If a person is giving a RAVE review with litterally not a single critisism, and it doesn't seem balanced at all, that is something that MIGHT be a red flag that it COULD be someone working in that office trying to create some online hype. You have to be careful though, because thats not always the case, and a lot of bariatric patients have a tendency to be really hot or really cold so it might just be a patient who is "in love" (ie, FRESH post op, havent got their bill yet, havent had a lot of pain yet) so its something to consider. Something else to think about is if someone is constantly relating posts back to a PRODUCT. Now, if someone is asking about Protein and someone tells them their favorite protein that is reasonable, I am talking more about people who seem to go out of their way to mention a product when its somewhat off-topic or even completely out of left field. -

Go back to see your surgeon. That looks bad.
