Had Chinese food today - never again!

do you feel sick because it feels stuck or is it just a full feeling?
  3. I'm glad to see this. Right now I am drinking the EAS carb control shakes from target that have a very similar nutrition profile but they are kind of expensive. I ALMOST picked those up from costco but I wanted to see if anyone else liked them or not.
  4. I had a band too, and except for VERY early out, I never did well with it. I had it out and swore off weight loss surgery. Well, two years passed and my obesity never left me. I was scared to do this, but I was scared NOT to do something about my weight problems too. I'm not going to try to sit here and talk you into it or tell you its amazing, because honestly, I am 10 days post op, there is so much I have yet to discover about this surgery but I am a medically literate and I still decided to press forward, knowing what I know.
  5. tofutti vanilla ice cream (its vegan) I have ONE tablespoon of the stuff now and then.

    Need Advice

Your going to be fine and there is no reason you shouldn't go, just be prepared to ask for soup, and tell them to run it through a blender for you if you need too. Any place will do this.
  7. about three or four days after surgery I experienced a day or two of a pretty severe headache. I drank some tea and that killed it. It may have been a fluke, or it may have been a caffeine issue. I have no idea.

    Insensitivity

Yeah, in that case I just feel like I support you in for feelings about being harassed (and I usually dont get behind people on this - usually I think these situations are largely self-inflicted) It's hard to know what to do if the office is so small and HR and the Boss are the same person. Press on, I suppose. Keep you head up, and there isn't anything wrong with telling a person (in a professional way) that your medical procedures, and private choices are not up for discussion in the workplace and any further harassment will be taken seriously and legal action may be considered.

    Rant: The Scale

I always say this - obesity is a disease like any other and should be monitored closely. Would we tell a diabetic to not check their sugars? Hell no. I think people here SHOULD be weighing in at least weekly. I don't agree with all the "stay off the scale" nonsense either and I am glad to find someone who feels the same. I think its important to understand that there are a lot of factors that influence how and when the scale is going to move, but if you are afraid of the darn thing you will never learn and you'll always be leery of it for no reason. I know I hold water 3-4 days before and during my period. I wouldn't know that if I didn't have a pattern down.
  11. Yeah, I'll accept that, and I do recognize that NOT ALL doctors are in agreement, but it is certainly against standard guidelines for obvious reasons, and I just wanted OP to understand that diet coke DOES NOT fall into that category of being OK on a daily basis in moderation, because it isn't.

    Portion of food

2 cups is way too much. 3-4 ounces is what you should be sticking too.

    Insensitivity

I usually think people are way to quick to be insulted, upset, or whatever but honestly, and this is coming from someone in a professional field... I would put in a complaint with HR about harassment. Unless that video your boss showed was otherwise relevant to your job that is uncalled for. I just saw that you said your boss IS HR... in that case, I would ask for an appointment to see him, formally, and address your concerns with him directly, honestly, and in a professional matter. Unless you have made this surgery everyone's business by talking about it constantly and opening yourself up to this, its WAY out of line for ANYONE to be even discussing your weight related matters in the work place. That is a two way street though, you can't go on and on about it and expect for no one to have an opinion.

    My post-op nightmare.

So sorry to here this, and yes, not everyone's esophagus is 100% straight like they look in the charts on the walls. I also have this problem - fun fact, its nearly impossible for me to burp because of it. I burp maybe twice a year? It blows my mind when I do because its such a rare thing for me. My office allows for us to come in for IV fluids at any time if we think we need them immediately post op. All we have to do is call and tell them whats going on and come in and they will give us a unit or two in the office. I wish that was more common, people get WAY too sick before they deal with this problem, and everything feels worse when you are dehydrated.

    looking for natural healthy recipes

I am slowly but surely stacking up some recipes. I just bought a pack of index cards and I have been all over the net taking down simple recipes. Some of them I have saved on Pinterest, so I will link that. Not every recipe there is perfect for what you are looking for, and some of them are for entertaining but I try to keep it to mostly low carb stuff. On another note though, where do you buy almond flour? I'm having trouble locating a.... affordable source. http://pinterest.com/holypeas/food/
  17. Honestly, I did not. It's probably better to if you can, but I flat out did not have the energy.
  18. I'm not the confrontational type, but I have a serious problem with talking to people who are about to have this surgery as though carbonated beverages are something they should EVER be considering again. I get it - none of us are perfect, hell, I had a diet slip up yesterday so I'm not saying this to tear you apart, stir up anything or even invalidate your experience but the facts are that while we will always be able to go back to our favorite foods in moderation, carbonated beverages are something that none of us should really be having if we are going to have this surgery- ever. FatMamaW, carbonated beverages are something you need to be prepared to say goodbye to if you want this surgery, and almost any surgeon will support that statement. Off the top of my head, as a medical professional, I cannot think of many other actions that are singularly as destructive to your sleeve as going back to sodas, and beers. Please educate yourself on this matter.
  19. DO NOT get the sleeve if you think its OK to have soda after. You're wasting your time.

    Tomato soup

I tolerated it fine as part of my full liquid stage that I am on. I actually prefer tomato bisque which does have a little but of chunk to it, but I just blended it up before I cooked it.

    Is it ok?

As a nurse I can tell you that they are not going to hand over medical waste to you. Sorry. Ask for a picture. Also, save yourself the embarrassment, they will look at you like you have three heads.

    Skinny Fiber ?

I would NOT purchase this. as Aaron in Tulsa said, it looks super scammy. Go to the grocery store and pick up some fiber supplements and find out what you like best. You don't need some kind of designer fiber that may or may not even be legit.

    Colon Cleanse please help

milk of mag is pretty standard
  24. YEP extra protein gets stored as fat just like anything else. I would stick to the standard 60-70 grams a day. Anything more than that is probably just slowing down weight loss unless you are working out hard.
