  1. Have you checked your car and your place of business?
  2. I seemed to have picked up a cold from work. Lovely. I tried to take some dayquil but my stomach flat out rejected it. It's the first time since surgery 47 days ago that I have had something come back up on me. The cough and drippy nose I can deal with but I am having some pretty uncomfortable chest pains along with it all. I can breath alright and I don't feel like I need medical attention but I am curious to see if anyone has any good home remedies for this type of thing? I'm not usually into stuff like that but OTC medication is not agreeing with me and I am uncomfortable to the point of desperation. I am making some tea as I type this so maybe that will help.
  3. Thanks dude. I am feeling marginally better already. I woke up at like 9:30 (I'm a night shift type of person) and it kind of shocked me how bad it was. I felt a little sick when I went to bed but i woke up like I had been thrown out of a car and hit by a train.

    bag for the hospital ladies!

I change of clothes, my phone, my charger, and tampons because of course, I HAD to get my period that morning. I took a few other things but used none of them. I got a shower and cleaned up once I got home.
  6. Thanks. I just drug my aching body out of the shower and that helped a lot. I have one of those facial steamers that boils water into a little thing that you hold your head over - its to clear out your pores but I think I might use that to just breath in the steam while I am setting up at the computer. I can't stand to lay down anymore.
  7. whoa thats crazy. How often do you weigh? I ask because some scales have a memory function built in so if i change is only very incremental it will just register the same weight as last time even though its not exactly the same, so then the person weighing never sees a change until the drop is dramatic. Certain digital scales are notorious for that. I have no idea what you've got or even if it was a digital scale but you might google the make and model of yours and see if thats whats happening. You could have had a huge shift though. That happened to be on my 10 day preop diet. I didn't really lose anything significant for the whole first half of it and then all of a sudden in the last 3 days I dropped an entire 20ish pounds.

    6 Days Post-Op

I remember feeling that way. As long as you don't eat something crazy WAY too soon you are going to be set and well on your way to a new lifestyle I'm not even so sure that most leaks happen as any sort of direct result of what people do. If you are worried about something in particular re-read your guidelines but other than that just try to relax, you are already off to a fantastic start.

    Subs

I had a three inch veggy delight on flatbread two days ago. I didn't really finish even that small of an amount and I didn't have protein with it so it was kinda bad but dang it was good. I'm 47 days post op

    He does not understand.....

Heh, sounds like he doesnt understand what NO SUGAR means. I don't know if your husband has a weight problem or not but I find that my husband doesn't understand some of my rules and doesnt always "get it" because he was never as heavy as I was. Maybe you could take him with you to your nut appointments?
  11. In my opinion you should be reading EVERYTHING. I don't typically read by subtopic it's posted under, I just typically go to the "Forums" drop down menu and select "Recent Topics" to see everything thats new. You want to be aquanted with all aspects of what could happen to you. It's scary but its my opinion that we should be prepared (within reason) to handle all that and to risk that before we go into this surgery. I think that the vast majority of people here don't have any serious complaints but its important to know about common issues.

    new addiction anyone?

You might like http://www.reddit.com/r/Coffee/ a forum all about that magical beverage. I'm obsessed.
  13. I am a rule follower for the most part. My food choices are not always perfect but I always stick to my measurements and I think since surgery 30ish days ago I have maybe had one day that I was actually significantly over my calorie goal of 800. Am I being obsessive for considering purchasing a pocket scale to keep in my purse for weighing food? They run anywhere from 8 to 20ish dollars and they usually come in a protective case. I seem to be losing weight on the slower side but there is a huge part of me that feels like if I always stick to my 3 or 4oz servings I will eventually get to goal. I am on the go a lot though, I am a nurse (currently inbetween jobs but that should not last long), a grad student, and I visit my out of town parents pretty often, so I do a lot of eating outside the home, and I am not always carting around my own food like a weirdo. This is what I have in mind These are generally considered low capacity but even at 600 grams, thats over 20 ounces, which is more than I would ever care about. Is this taking things too far or am I correct in thinking it is a sensible thing for someone on the go to own.

    Possible first tattoo need help

I very nearly got a tattoo prior to my surgery but held off. Our skin migrates as we lose weight and you just don't know where/how it will end up looking. I think its best to wait.
  15. You don't HAVE to do anything but there are obviously pros and cons to each choice we make. I choose not to have coke. Those are calories I'd rather have for something else and the carbonation KILLS ME.
  16. negatory. You didn't do anything wrong, exept for you might have slowed down some.

    Vet's Forum

I think they should be enforced. I'm also surprised 6 months is all it takes to be considered a vet. I have been a bariatric patient for 6 years, although I am new to the sleeve - I feel so different about things now than I did when I was post op one year.
  18. I wish I would have realized how much my left shoulder was going to hurt and purchased a heating pad BEFORE surgery instead of hobbling around the pharmacy late one night like a freak bent over in pain trying to get it for myself freshly post op. Good times.

    5 1/2 OUNCES?

You might consider that you don't want to eat to max capacity Full isn't the feeling we should be shooting for. I always try to remind myself to go for "comfortably unhungry" rather than full. Basically what I was told by my surgeon was that while stretching the sleeve is not really likely to happen under normal circumstances anything is possible if you try hard enough and he told me the quickest way to do that was by pushing it all the time, eating till full every time. That's why I'm just a huge proponent of weighing. I've said it before and I will repeat it here If you limit whatever you are going to eat to 3-4 ounces its very unlikely that you are ever going to experience weight gain and/or sleeve dilation of any sort.

    5 1/2 OUNCES?

Honestly, its probably because of the sauce. Peanut sauce is usually oily. oil = slip, and slip = stomach clearance. I'm 46 days post op so WAY newer than you but even now for me, I find that certain things will to through my pouch at a much faster rate than others. I try not to eat things too "wet" for that reason. I don't feel hunger at this point at all, but I still don't like to eat stuff like that because I know I can eat more of it. If you are worried about stretching the only advice I can give you is to NEVER put that much food in front of you in the first place. You can't eat what you don't have.
  21. dat phlebitis (maybe, probably, but I'm not a doctor and I haven't seen it). You can rotate hot and cold packs on the site if it is still bothering you. It will more than likely clear up on its own but if it gets worse you can always call the doc and tell him what happened.
  22. Hmmm well, it depends on the taco but I can say that I can eat about half a standard taco (no rice) from chipotle. Thats the only kind I have tried but I would imagine I could probably do most of a regular taco bell taco. I weighed a taco from chipotle once and if I remember correctly it was a little over 6 ounces - I did that because I was trying to decide how much of it I should sit down with and try to eat. 3-4oz is my standard serving so half was perfect.
