Eddie, glad everything is on the mend for you & Sean ! Yesterday I also got some food stuck...but I just had a mouthful of water to wash it down...it hurt & that helped straight away. Tonight I chewed everything much more. You'll have to tell me all about your fill as soon as it's done - since you are getting it so far in front of me. I think i am able to eat everything then i get pain & have to slow down. So looking forward to the fill. Have a good week everyone. XX -

welcome ConSafo ! My shoulder pain was the worst of it all - but that's just about gone now after a month. Chin up ! Dawn I wish your brother the best of luck with everything. I am gay & the dad to a beautiful 3 & 1/2 year old little boy. His mother & I did everything at home with a specimen jar & a siringe. It worked twice - first pregancy ended in miscarrage but the 2nd ended with a wonderful little boy. It took 12 months before it was successful...then 9 months later .. Cooper ! He stays with my partner & I every weekend... and when his mother is away for work... currently she's away all week. I pick him up from daycare every day & we also have our holidays together. Last Christmas it was Fiji. We all have a great relationship that works well. So best wishes to him & you ! -
Hi Natz, just had my surgery on 15 May.... no pain after surgery - was very comfortable. The only real pain was gas & shoulder pain for 2 weeks after. but it was easy to cope with. I'd do it again in a second. Keep your chin up & look at the big picture - even though the light at the end of your tunnel is a little way away. Take care. X

Hi everyone ! I can't believe how early your docs do their first fill.... my doctor is waiting just more than 2 months !!!!!! My surgery was 15 May & my first fill is going to be 18 July. I'm already eating solids & my hunger has returned. I am really looking forward to the fill. It seems to me that everyone on the planet is getting their fills ages before me !!!!! I would love to find out more about this conference. Take care everyone. Anyone on here in Brisbane (west side)... i'm at Oxley ?? X

Eddie ! You two sound so much like us !! I totally feel for you & your situation. Kisses & huges sent your way ! Here's my gripe - you are getting your fill nearly a month before me & i was banded the day before you !!!!! HATE YOU !! (love ya really xx) I saw the doc last week & he agreed to bring my fill date forward 1 week.... but then I found out that he has no space available any earlier so my first fill is still July 18 !!! ARGHHHHHHH Am like you - completely healed & eating anything that's not moving. !!! He says not to stress about any weight that i put on - that's easy for him to say. I've got 1 month to survive - I find it ok during the days at work but at night at home & on the weekends are hard not to eat rubbish or too much. Have you had a drink yet ? Had a few glasses of wine on Friday night & a couple on Saturday night. Enjoying the wine very much & haven't missed the beer at all surprisingly . Have a great week everyone. XX -

Hi everyone . Welcome Dawn !!! Eddie, I've also had a problem with constipation... I've been taking dissovlable fibre & have started taking a liquid one aswell. Before the surgery I had no probelms - cause I used to eat tons of fibre. I am starting to get my appetite back - I can't wait until my first fill - but that's not until 18 July. My shoulder pain is finally easing off a little (3 weeks post op) but is still there every afternoon - after a hard day at work clicking my mouse button - and every morning. Anyway - every one have a good week. It's finally raining here - we have been in a major drought for a couple of years & are on major Water restrictions - it was so nice this morning lying in bed listening to the rain - though only for 10 minutes - had to get up & get on the treadmill like a good boy !! 1 day post-op and the gas PAIN...
mgh1965 replied to jeejee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It all helps... Peppermint tea, gas-x & heat pacs.... stick that bum in the air & walk. I still have shoulder / gas pain after more than 2 weeks, and it's worse first thing in the morning, but finally am able to sleep thru the night. Have lost 14 kg's so far... so it's all been worth it. Keep your chin up & know we are all on your side !! -
Hi Everyone , I was banded on the 15th May & have had bad shoulder pain ever since. I find it very hard to get any sleep. And i'm due to go back to work tomorrow. Is there any meds that I can take that will help with this pain. From ready all the posts I understand that it's caused by gas... will some meds kill this pain ??? Any help will be appreciated !!! Thanks Mark Brisbane - Australia

Eddie, I can't believe you had 1/2 a hamburger . I am so jealous !!!! Last night was soooo hard. 5 of us went out for dinner - and they didn't have anything that I could eat - except I stole 1/2 of my 3 year old son's ice cream. When I got home I had a Optifast shake. OH YUM !!! But over the weekend - I've had a couple of beers , which I enjoyed but I had to drink them very slowly - not like before when I just used to inhale them !!! Hope you had a great time in the new RV over the weekend. X -

Sorry you are having to deal with stress in the stressful time - that is all you need. Definitely call your doctor - it's better to be safe than sorry. As my doctor said - it's easier to put out a match than a bush fire !! Best of luck. -

Amazing Rig Eddie & I love the bonking bananas. The Vit E oil straight from the capsules is doing wonders for my scars aswell... some of the smaller incisions I can bearley find now. Have a great weekend - if I don't talk to you before then. I really enjoyed chating to you via email today -
My doc told me to take fish oil capsules & they will help with the hair loss. Take them with a little hot drink to melt the capsule.

The little pic is me & my son in Fiji last New Years Eve. Isn't he a little spunk - just like his Dad !!! Today he's home from Day Care with me cause he's a bit sick. But tomorrow it's back to "normal" life for both of us -

Hi Eddie. It's Mark from Australia (banded 15 May) and I too am "a friend of Dorothy". I've been with my partner for 14 years... he's 13 years my senior & is very supportive of my banding. I also have a 3 year old son who I had with a female friend - she also is very supportive. My goal now is to look great for the cruise we 4 (Mom, Dad , my partner Des & our son - Cooper) are doing just after Christmas this year. If you'd like to email me directly... i'd love to hear from you - since you were banded on practically the same day as me..and you are nearly the same age as me & have kids too My work email address is..... mhines@bunnings.com.au That's my work email... which I am starting back at tomorrow. I've given you that one - cause that's the one that I check the most. Love to all the other GLB&T banders out there !!! Any one in Brisbane or Australia that want to chat ??? -
The gas-x really does seem to help.... last night finally had a decent night sleep - only got up 3 times... to stretch & take some more gas-x. Have started back on my walking too - which has helped a little. Tomorrow it's back to work- YUK !
-
just got some "de-gas" and it's starting to work.... I hope it enables me to sleep tonight ! I'm off now for a drive with the neighbour.. and I'll make sure i do some walking while out ! Cheers everyone & best wishes - this site is great !

Did your Doc require a pre-op diet?
mgh1965 replied to whosthatgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The doctor put me on a supplement diet (2 meals) & no fat, carbs, diary , sugar or starches for dinner. The docs said it was to shrink the liver to get it out of the way - to make the surgery easier. And I lost 8 kilos to boot - which was great. I was banded on the 15th May.. and am going great guns - 4 weeks of fluid only - then 2 weeks of sloppy food - then 2 weeks of "normal" small meals - then finally my first fill ! -
Hi LP... Eggs sound like the worse idea yet.. that would completely block you. Over here in Aussie we are told 4 weeks of just liquids after banding, then 2 weeks of mushy food, then 2 weeks of small normal food.. then you get your first fill. I have been having protein shakes, drinking yogurt, fruit & vege juice, jelly & thin custard... as well as vitiamin & fish oil capsules with HOT water. I've had no problems so far. I've lost about 20 pounds so far.. that's including the 2 weeks of strict diet before the surgury. Hope this is some help.
-
Hi everyone. I was banded on the 15 May... so far so good.. except for the shoulder pain. The tummy pain is practically non existant. 3 more weeks of liquids .. am all ready looking forward to the "sloppy food" stage.

I can fully recomend Dr Doug Nicholson @ the Sunnybank Private Hospital. (Sunnybank Obesity Centre) He is very thorough & calls a spade a shovel.
