    HELP! I am PLUGGED!

If you feel plugged and the stool is hurting your bottom a glycerine suppository will give some lubrication for the stool to pass. Fleets mineral oil enemas are good as well for lubrication for the stool as well.

    Tips to eat slower

This is a great thread. I am also having difficulty with eating too fast. I will use your ideas and see if it will help. Jenn

    "Bougie" size?

I think most experienced surgeons will evaluate the entire patient before deciding on a size. It is also very dependent on your anatomy once they get in there too. I guess some surgeons feel that one size fits all, but I know many don't.
  4. I am doc and a sleeve patient, but for my legal disclaimer - this is not official medical advice. Gotta keep the lawyers from making money off of me. Miralax or MOM is typically the best way to go if the warm Soups or broth don't do it for you. You can actually do the miralax more than 1 time a day and it seems to work quicker. I would avoid the bisacodyl or senna products if possible because your body can get dependent on them over time. Some people require them though. I am a week ahead of you (Jan 14, 2013) and have hit the constipation wall. Started my miralax today. Good luck.

    Vitamins

Great news. Had my visit with my dr. today and he said I could start taking regular ones again. WHOOPPEE
  6. Question. I am two weeks out and my doctor lets us go back to whole pills instead of crushed. I am really having a hard time with the chewable Bariatric Advantage MVI. They are gross. Any suggestions? Secondly - has anyone tried the BA or Celebrate capsules? The celebrate ones are 3 per dose. I've never ever had a problem with pills but this chewable stuff is awful.
  7. You might just let her know that you don't want to put her out and prepare your own meals. My husband and I do not eat the same things so we have prepared meals separately for years. If you plan well, it doesn't take all that much time.

    chipotle? subway?

Never thought about hollowing out the bread. That is a great idea.
  9. I stopped using mine because of the horrible dry mouth even with the humidifier all the way up. I never really snored but made weird noises when I would have apnea. My husband hasn't complained about it at all.
  10. That looks like the wound dehisced (sutures came apart) which is quite common. It will just heal from the inside out. If it isn't red, hard, or swollen just keep it clean and dry and it should heal up. My drain site looks the same way.

    Time off from work

I had surgery on the 14th and went back to work today (2 weeks off). I am partly walking/standing and partly sitting. I could have gone back last week, but would have been tired.

    Appeal with a attorney

Insurance companies do whatever they can to not pay. I do insurance reviews (cancer - not WLS) and 80% of the time I approve the appeal unless there is something VERY specific in the policy that I can't figure out a way around.

    APPROVED!

    Congrats. That is wonderful

    Dry mouth

Save up your money for the biotene mouthwash. It really works well. I use it all the time.

    chipotle? subway?

I love the salads at subway and the kids size is reasonable. Chipotle can be very friendly if you go for the kids menu and stay away from the rice and go for the lettuce. Both websites have great nutritional information

    Strings

They are absorbable sutures and will just dissolve.
  17. So I had a VSG on Monday 1/14. Absolutely no complications. NO additional tests, out in 24 hours. Got the claim summary today. The hospital charged BCBS AL 35K and BCBS allowed 6K. Wow. No wonder people with insurance can't afford to get sick because us with insurance get huge discounts. Kinda disgusting if you ask me. Jenn

    2 weeks post op

I used to LOVE cream soups and shakes.....not any more. At least I can still stomach the yogurt.

    2 weeks post op

I am the same way Dollbaby and Quicky. I am not "hungry" but nothing tastes good either. I am really looking forwards to puree next week.

    Tomorrow is the day!

Thoughts and prayers are with you guys tomorrow
  21. My husband has been supportive, but toward the end before surgery when I'd lost 30# he didn't understand why I wanted the surgery, but just keep doing what I was doing. I knew if I didn't get the surgery I was going to yo-yo. He really noticed the 10# during the pre-op diet and didn't understand why I just couldn't keep it up. He is quite obese (300+ pounds) and thinks he can just walk it off. His diet is awful and we eat separate meals all the time. I am really worried about him and hope my weight loss will be motivation. Has anyone else had this issue?
  22. My surgery is first case on Monday. I am beginning to get nervous. Going to the grocery store tomorrow to stock up on a weeks worth of food. Any other suggestions for mental preparation? Jenn

I believe my PCP is NUTTS!

Very few people I know have been happy with military health care. I work in a setting that gets a lot of referrals from our local military installation and most of them are not happy unless they have no issues. There is absolutely no incentive to really do anything. It is sad that this is the way our country treats the people that are serving our country. My family members finally opted out of the prime and went standard. They decided they would rather pay than have to deal with crappy PCPs that were getting chump change for seeing them. Jenn

I believe my PCP is NUTTS!

There are some awful PCPs out there and great ones as well. I LOVE my PCP. Her practice was closed, but they got a new doc in her practice and she opened it up again. The first visit was to basically set up care and get my chronic meds taken care of. I told her about my desire for WLS and she was quite supportive. She's worked hard to get my BP and thyroid under control. After my last visit she gave me a Huge hug and told me she couldn't wait to see me after my surgery. After hearing from you guys....I realize how lucky I am.
  25. I take several medications daily and am a bit worried about how I will take them immediately post-op. I tried to crush them up this morning as a trial run and nearly vomited. I can get a few in liquids but the other not. What have your docs suggested and when did they let you start taking meds as usual. Jenn
