Thank you for your information on depression, because I will be scheduled for surgery soon and it is good to know these things before, so that I if I experience any of these feelings I might just remember what you put on here and then I will understand why I might be going through them post-op. I hope you are getting the help you need and I wish you all the best! Thanks again!

I would like to go hiking with my wife, be able to play sports again, be able to go shirtless at the beach (haven't done it since I was 18). I would like to learn to dance since it is something my wife loves to do. I would like to try Zumba so I can learn to dance and lose weight.

Fears are rational. make a list, and use the search engine on here to read previous posts.
The search engine is a really valuable tool! Go through and see people's posts from before the surgery, and go in and follow their topics after that - their progress and maybe see the highs and lows and get that it is natural to be afraid.
Prepare for all you can, and let the rest pass with a focus on impermanence. Impermanence will be a great friend for you for a very, very long time. You are not embarked on a goal - you are setting off on a jourrney.

My surgery is scheduled for April 16 and I am feeling exactly the same way. The Pre-op diet has not been as hard as I thought it would be - so far - but when I think of all liquids for another week and 1/2 before surgery - it seems impossible. That is my biggest challenge now.

I am getting sleeved on April 17. Yes, I am scared too. I read posts on here and get brave, then I read others and question if I really want to do this.
I hope everything goes well with you and I hope we can get over the anxiety and realize that we will be ok. We have to put our lives in God's hands.
Keep in touch and we can compare notes.

Lol.. acid queen skinny b***h !
I never had reflux till the lapband and then it was part of my life in band hell only I was still obese! It took me a long time to accept that it might get worse post sleeve.. but i finally decided it was worth the risk. Thank my lucky stars I am reflux free...but as a skinny b***h I too would say it is worth the risk.

This is a side effect that can happen especially if you have suffered from reflux in the past there is a good chance that it will get worst. I still don't regret having the lap band out and being sleeved in going to be an acidy skinny b***h soon lol

I got my surgery date yesterday..... the big day is April 17th! I have my pre op tomorrow and I'm concerned about something... back on March 3rd I was in a bad car wreck and I suffered a few bumps n bruises. Well on my legs were the bruises were I have a small knot on one leg and the other leg its just a lil swollen. So my concern is blood clots. Should i b concerned or am i thinking totoo much into it? I don't want these bruises to set me back so I am going to discuss this with my surgeon tomorrow and hope for the best! I'm really looking forward to getting this conversion to sleeve done. I'm ready for a new, refreshed and healthier me!

    moonchild1968 reacted to Darla5060 in 2 wks post op..not eating..just drinking ( not too much energy )
I remember going through exactly what you described...hang in there! I didn't get energy back until week 4, then I had it in abudance. At week 2, I still had really low energy. I also missed the food I used to eat. It took me a month to get over wanting that food I used to eat. It'll get better! This decision has changed my life in so many good ways! The best advice I got when I had the surgery was "The first month sucks". Keep that in mind, and don't worry - it's gets better very soon. Good luck!!!

moonchild1968 reacted to nraeh in What made you pick VSG instead of DS?
My PCP recommended that I check into the VSG. He said that it was the least invasive surgery and that it was only five years old but of all of the patients that he has had that had WLS the sleeve was the one that he has had the least amount of patients with problems. I highly respect his opinion and decided to check into the sleeve through this site.

Thanks for all the great words of encouragement. I have all of my pre-op stuff to do next Monday, nutritionist, physical and some class that they require you to sit through. Then next stop surgery.
It's comforting to know that there are other people out there who feel the same way. Hoping for success for all!
