  1. My band to sleeve (all in one) surgery went "great" and the pain is becoming more manageable with each passing day. I'm sip, sip, sipping and working on getting my intake up. I'm just wondering what this indentation on the right side of my stomach is all about. It is the source of my remaining pain and it is just below where my port was for 5 1/2 years. The dent is also just below the "exit" site for the sleeve so it "took a beating during the surgery" (all quotations indicate surgeons comments). When I lie flat on my back, the indentation is hardly noticeable. It's only when I stand and look head on and certainly from an angle. Of course, I mentioned the swelling to my surgeon (Center of Excellence) in the hospital, but I was on morphine and hadn't really noticed the indentation until I began standing more when I got home. What he saw in the hospital he was "not worried about it". I called the doctor's office to go over my concerns about how my stomach looks. It looks like we will discuss it at follow up on Friday 4/26. Can any body offer some insight? Anybody heard of this?

5 Days Post Op and there's a dent in my stomach.

Thanks ALL! Good looking out! I knew I could count on the VST crew for a quick response. I might have missed this bit of information while under the influence in the hospital, so thanks. p.s. I'm band-free and sleeved!
  3. You're story is painful, scary and hard to hear. Thank you for sharing it. It is important that every story is told and every voice is respected. I pray for you and your family.
  4. Tomorrow is my new day. I'm having every emotion imaginable. Just "all over the place". I'm sitting here trying to clean off my desk, return calls and emails and leave things a bit organized. Why did I wait until today? ugh. At least I'm half packed for the hospital. Surgery is at 2, report at noon. I can't believe it's finally here. I want this so bad. My doctor prescribed neomycin 2 pills every HOUR 4 hours then 1 pill every 4 hours. That's 12 pills in one day. I'm not a good pill taker, but I took the first dose before leaving the house. By the time I dropped my son off at school, I knew it didn't agree with my stomach. I called the office. They said, "Stop taking it. You'll be fine. It was just as a precaution." Now, I'm wishing it didn't upset my stomach so bad because I feel like I'm missing a step and I want to dot all my i's and cross my t's. They wouldn't have told me to stop taking them if I shouldn't have. Right? They also prescribed 3tblsp. milk of mag, which I just took and all seems well so far. Maybe I should've taken today off, too?

Are glad you chose the sleeve?

Hi. I appreciate your post. I was hoping you'd get a response by now. You might want to try posting in the main forum where there's more traffic. Good luck and congratulations on your decision to get healthy.

    Full Liquid Phase. Blah!

I'm guessing what you're guessing about the puree phase, but I'd still check with the doc. We don't want to any avoidable trouble simply because we didn't ask. I'm doing 2 day Clear liquids pre-op continued until day 3 post op. Then, 3 weeks of full liquids plus 3 weeks pureed. It'll be challenging, but I say the real work begins when the real eating begins.

You look great! Just great! So encouraging. Praise God! Work it!
  14. Well, that doesn't sound like fun. I hope you get more feedback and feel better very soon. As a sleeve pre-op, I have no experience, but wish you well. Congrats on a successful surgery. Sorry to hear about your uncomfortable digestive issues. It's sound like you and your doc are on top of things, so hopefully it will be resolved soon.
  15. My surgery is this Thursday, April 18. Thanks for the well wishes. Get ready to make room on the losers bench.

    Congratulations! That's no small feat!
  17. Hi. You look great. Your pics are beautiful and your spirit ( I read some of your other posts and comments) is refreshing. I am encouraged as I get closer and closer to my big day, by stories like yours. Thank you so much for reaching back and lifting up a "newbie" (so to speak) like me. I pray that others will also drop in from time to time and share their updates with the team. Thank you. Side note: I have no idea why everything is underlined.

APRIL 2013. Whooo's Comin' With Me!

That makes two of us. Only days away from pressing the reset button.
  22. I am a lapband to sleeve pre-op, too, but my process was less tedious than yours. I did all that pre-op stuff with the lapband, but with the sleeve I only had to revisit the dietician and get a medical clearance from my primary doctor. No psych eval, no pulmonary clearance etc. I did standard pre-op last week and I'm all set for surgery in 4 days. Isn't it interesting how requirements differ amongst surgeons? My pre-op liquid diet is only 2 days. From what I've read here, 2 weeks is more common. Either way, it is "quite a process" to revise and I pray it's worth every minute of it for all of us. All the best!
  23. Congratulations on a great surgery!!! Take good care now. You're on your way!!!
  24. Congratulations. Do good tomorrow.
