Verticle sleeve stent
C_TimesThree replied to kjing9419's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I currently have a leak, my Dr said that a stent should only be used as a last ditch effort! He said they are horribly dangerous and very painful. -
I'm ok, I had a follow up CT Thursday, there was some debate as to if the leak is closed or not so I drank blue dye and waited 24 hours to see if it showed in my drain. It never did! I've been able to start Clear liquids but as of today we still aren't 100% sure I'm healed so I'm only drinking brightly colored crystal light to see if anything shows up. If by tomorrow all is still good I will switch to oral pain meds and get Protein shakes! The hope is to go home without my PICC. Also as of today my white blood cell count is normal for the first time since the leak was found.

Complication insurance
C_TimesThree replied to UNAWAYNE's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Well you would get charged the same as cash pay because being in the hospital that long at 5k a night is just that expensive when you add in multiple CT's, a 2nd surgery.... Also I'm the first leak my surgeon has ever had. -
Complication insurance
C_TimesThree replied to UNAWAYNE's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Well let me just say if you have a leak 20k of complications insurance is NOTHING, I've been in the Hopsital 15 days, had an additional surgery & the bills from my "complications" will be well over 100k. I would never ever ever ever have this surgery if you couldn't be sure complications were covered because YOU NEVER KNOW. I had zero co-morbs, passed my 24 leak test, and still have a leak. -
Newbie needs advice
C_TimesThree replied to Old self's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have a co morb insurance will cover it, why waste money that insurance you already pay for could shell out instead of you? The time on your supervised diet will fly by faster than you think. Even if I wouldn't have had insurance hoops to jump through it still would have taken 3-4 months to do the testing my surgeon required. -
They required 90 days supervised diet and 2 years of weight history.

For some reason I just developed a small leak near where my esophagus meets my staple line.
-
Actually it is treated by a drain being placed, I'm NPO and it has to heal on its own, though I am in the hospital being very closely monitored they aren't doing anything to help it heal, other than having me NPO.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/257387267730615/ ok try one more time!
-
Hey everyone! Let's try to get together! I started another thread but it seems most didn't see it! Anyway, I have a group on FB, maybe most of you can join? It might be easier to set something up. I will make the group "closed" so you can all request to join then once everyone has I will change it back to secret. Sound good? https://www.facebook.com/groups/257387267730615/ Let me know if that works or not please!

How did it go?
-
I have recently decided on VSG, I am going to being my 90 day surgical prep as soon as my family moves home to Arizona in January. I am (almost) exclusively breastfeeding my 8 month old son & I am wondering if any other mothers have been in this situation? Could you still feed after surgery? Did you notice that it impacted your supply? I am very worried that my surgeons will pressure me to stop which neither my son, nor I, are ready for but I also don't think breastfeeding should be a reason to not have surgery.
-
Is there anyway to just not list BCBS at all? And just have everything submitted direct to Aetna?
-
I alos have Aetna! I live in the Phoenix area. I can't fall asleep without my husband and also have a breastfeeding baby who usually wakes up 3+ times a night so I am going to have to wake up & pump at those times & I am worried it's going to count against me but it's just not something I can help.

It sounds like we are about on the same timeline! My 2nd of 4 appts is the 14th! & my sleep study is the 20th. Good luck at your sleep study, I am so nervous for mine.

Phoenix, Az (Support Group for West Side)
C_TimesThree posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ok! SO! I am in Arizona, finally, & I think we should get this little "support group" we discussed together as there aren't really any in the Avondale/Goodyear area. We had discussed friendship park before, I believe, I'm not sure how busy that would be but there is also a park in my community & one in JSP's also I am sure, that may work better just due to the amount of others around. Input there? Second thing when. I'm a stay at home mom so my schedule tends to be a little more flexible than others (though sometimes it means I am dragging along two children) I think we should aim for next month. Would every prefer a weekend or a week day? What time of day works better for everyone? Once it heats up do we have a solution? How often would we like to do it? Anyway I'd love to hear all feedback/opinions! -
My surgeon said he will remove 85%.

Nope! we seem to be about in the same spot! I will be having surgery in May at Banner Gateway. There is a support group up in Peoria once a month that would be close to you also! JPS & I attend. -
That is awesome! I need one.

Sleep study has been scheduled!
C_TimesThree replied to sbekch's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have to sleep on your back??? I'm never going to be able to sleep! -
I think it shows you need the surgery more, you OBVIOUSLY tried to lose weight and got no where since you are back up to 40. I think you should try see how it goes then move from there.

I love reading your blog! I agree the community here for blogging isn't the best, I use Xanga for my normal blog. -
Hotels in San Diego
C_TimesThree replied to ploveda1's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I always bid in rooms using Priceline, I've gotten $250-300 a night hotels for $75-100 before! -
Fishy didn't sugar coat things, people here got pissed and he was banned by the admin (which you are one of apparently), that being said I agree.
