How long did it take to get the pre op stuff done?
conshy416 replied to Heartonsleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
4 months. I was required to complete 3 months of medical weight management. So I had plenty of time to get all of my pre-op tests completed. I finished all of those tests within one month. I heard back from my insurance within 2 weeks. I had to complete all the pre-op requirements before my case was submitted for approval. Overall, it wasn't bad; it gave me time to really make sure this is what I wanted to do. -

Weight loss and weight gain is simple. It's calories in vs calories burned...we all know that. Sure, metabolism has some influence on that equation but every human still has a resting basal metabolic rate. Based on age and height/weight and activity level, it's a mathematical configuration that will tell you how many calories you need to maintain your current weight. If you eat more, you gain weight. I don't understand how a human being can eat at such a restrictive level, calorically speaking, and become morbidly obese. It's not that complicated and even if you had extremely poor metabolism, you still need at least 1,000 per day to pump blood through your heart and oxygenate your lungs, etc. Your situation is very interesting and suprising to learn about. Best of luck! -

That's discrimination. Your boss can not decide that you are not allowed to cash in your sick time and go out of work to have surgery. Make sure you full out FMLA paperwork through your employer. That won't get you paid but it will protect your job for 6 months. Good luck! -

June sleevers?

My date is June 19th. So nervous but so ready. Feels like my life is on hold until I can get this surgery done and over with. Ready to be on the looser's bench! Anyone else an RN here? -
Has anyone had a carpal tunnel release surgery? I am being sleeved on June 19th and have just been diagnosed with severe carpal tunnel. Some research says that it can be caused by obesity. Anyway, I was thinking to have the carpal tunnel release, on both hands, the weeke before my sleeve surgery. If anyone has had this surgery, your feedback would be appeciated. Recovery time? How did you shower and use the bathroom the first few days after? Thanks!

Sorry to hear about your set back. You may have a stricture? You should call your surgeon, just to be cautious. Keep us updated! -
I think the splendor had a funky taste whereas the classic just gives my smoothies a clean chocolate taste; no weird protein aftertaste or smell.

I am having surgery June 19th at Penn Presbyterian. Anyone else scheduled with a Penn surgeon?

HELP! I need a good excuse!
conshy416 replied to conshy416's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was clear from the beginning. I titled the thread "I need a good excuse". And everyone feels the need to tell me how to run my friendships. This girl is not my best friend, she was not my bridesmaid, I never speak to her over the phone, but I have known her for a long time. She's a very good acquaintance, I guess. Bottom line, I am more stressed out about the entire thing then I was when I started this thread. All of this unnecessary bullshit is too much. Please stop responding if you can't be supportive or answer the question which is posed. End of story. -

Thank you. Ugh. These responses are so bizarre. Everyone is up in arms. So judgemental. Please leave it alone. And get a life if you think that this forum is to try and control how and what someone thinks. This is why I dont want to tell people until after the fact. It's like people can't control themselves to be less judgemental and controlling.
