  1. am almost 14 weeks out; when I was first cleared for the stage 5 diet I was very concerned with how little I could eat and how difficult it was to eat things like chicken. My surgeon said don't worry, everyone is at their own pace and it is okay to stay on mostly liquids longer. He was right, your body lets you know if what your eating is not working. I can eat almost anything now, although beef and pork are still easier for me than chicken. Morning shakes also work well for me, I get half my protein and a quarter of my fluid on my drive to work. I started with premixed but now make my own with skim milk, protein, and fresh fruit using a ninja.

I am so happy that you replied to my post. I can't seem to get out of my own head and it is comforting in some way to know I am not alone. Thank you.

sooooooo whats on the menu for today?

I have been reading this thread and it makes me feel a little better. I am exactly 4 weeks out of surgery and today I am feeling particularly overwhelmed about how little I can eat and how difficult it is to keep up with my protein and fluids. I am typically not an emotional person but today I am starting to realize how difficult this is going to be and it is making me feel depressed. I am 44 years old and have weighed over 300 pounds for most of the past 10 years. I have two small boys, 2 and 5, and decided on the surgery after more than a year of consideration. My goal is to stay healthy and active for them as they grow and become teenagers and young adults. I am not back to work yet, I am waiting until after Christmas; I know it will be even harder then. My 2 year old is home sick with me today and I am very happy to have the time with him. I am concerned about what will be normal for me in my future, will it always be this hard to eat and get the nutrients I need to be active.
