Why am I hungry all the time?
outrigger42 replied to awalexander2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How dedicated you have been to lose all those pounds! You can get lots of speculations on this forum that are all wonderful advice. If you think you are sabotaging yourself, go back to the psychologist and deal with an expert. -
Woohoo I wish I lived in Australia! My doc said no to dilaudid. I agree with you on the sexual crap! Go to a different sight for goodness sake. There are plenty of sites for that. This is a place for information and support.

Sad and Seeking Words of Wisdom
outrigger42 replied to MaryC's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wow, your story is my worst fear. Most people don't believe you when you say you are doing everything right. I do. Been there, done that, and have the t shirt to prove it. Are you on any meds that may cause the problem? I changed Dr and she changed my meds around. The other docs kept telling me it was my eating habits. She said it was the drugs. Since changing them I have lost 35 pounds in 6 weeks. And I am pre sleeve. Google your meds to see. Look at the American board of Bariatric Physicians info and see if its genetic. It's not your fault! -
I am so sorry for you. Changed your life for 40 pounds. Why don't you ask your Dr for an appetite suppressant. If your surgeon won't do it, look up a bariatric physician. You can go to ASBP and get names

Wow. I'm impressed you got a restaurant to do that for you

Serendipity happens , you eat so healthy! Has it not improved your weight?

What do you mean? Are you a transposition? How did they puncture a lung? Were they fixing a hiatal hernia? Lungs and stomach are in two separate cavities unless you have a hernia. Why were there adhesions? Did you have previous surgeries?

Scared about complications
outrigger42 replied to SuchaPrettyFaceBUT's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are certainly not alone! I've cancelled my surgery four times after reading the stories on this forum. I got the nerve to schedule it again and my friend got a leak 3 months out. I'm canceling again tomorrow. -
Long story... Anyone else been here?

I'm sure he's right, it could be many things. My coworker had the same issues and as soon as she was dilated 3 weeks post op, everything was fine. -
Clear Liquids and Weather Concerns

That would really really suck! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. -
Two of the people in my options class have had leaks so I am scared to death. Unlike most of the people on this site, I have no food addiction. Until a couple of years ago I weighed 130 pounds. Then I went on a couple of medications and now am 100 pounds heavier. I have spent $5000 on nutritionist who guaranteed weight loss and have got my money back because I didn't lose an ounce. My doctor suggested the sleeve and I had a December surgery date. I have cancelled surgery 4 times because I am afraid I will go through a life threatening surgery and lose no weight. Is there anyone out there under the same circumstances? Is there anyone out there who hasn't lost weight? I have talked to3 people who have gained back their weight in 1 year, but they admitted they haven't followed their diet. I am tired of being the largest person in the room but wish I knew this option would truly help and not risk my life.

Thanks for the input. I have been researching the surgery for almost a year. I've talked to a couple of Universities who do research and they said since I am 100 pounds over weight, I would likely lose 65 pounds and probably only 50 long term. Those surgeons and my surgeon haven't done anyone under my circumstances and didn't know if my weight loss would be different. One of them suggested this forum to see if others in the same circumstances could tell me about their weight loss.

Anyone out there who has never been able to lose weight?
outrigger42 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am not a foodie but have gained 100 pounds after being started on some meds known to cause weight gain. My Doctor recommended WLS after mutilple failed attempts at weight loss. Unlike others here who have lost and gained, I have never lost an ounce. I am scared I will do a drastic surgery and not lose the weight. Is there anyone out there who had surgery for the same reason, and did you succeed? -
Wow! Can you tell me how you posted a new topic? I have a couple of questions and can't figure out how to do it

Sorry for your loss. What you are going through doesnt necessarily mean miscarriage but you do need to see your OB. They may want you to rest until bleeding stops.

In my surgical consultation and in the classes they said to expect it for a week post op

Have a question about previous surgey

I hope you made a typo and didn't put off colon surgery for a year. If you have a mass then change your priorities about what to concern yourself with. Either way you are going to lose weight. Deal with the prospect of cancer first. If all goes well you should be fine for your scheduled surgery date. Please let us know, we will all be thinking of you. -
You have phlebitis (inflammation of the vein). If there is any red streaking then you need to be seen. You don't have to see your surgeon for this, your local primary care doctor can take care of it.

Having second thoughts!
outrigger42 replied to jenniferg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know how you feel! My primary doc, the bariatric doc, the NUT, the PA all called me(I'm a doc) to try to talk me out of doing the surgery. The surgeon spent Almost 2 hours with me going over the risks and recommending alternatives. I've followed this website for two months and read complaints after complaints about complications. It is really a hard decision to listen to professionals warning me and the sad stories of complications vs the majority of success stories. I am sick of being the largest person in the room, but am also respectful of my colleagues concerns -
Your entries have certainly scared me away from the surgery. Thanks for the honesty

Low BMI of 38 would you do the surgery or have you done the sleeve?
outrigger42 replied to Zen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just attended a physicians class on obesity. The chances of you losing the weight on your own and keeping it off are very low. But to decrease your risk of comorbitities, all you have to do is lose 5 to 10% of your weight. That alone extends your life by 3 years. Each time you lose that, even if you regain it, it is another 3 years. So you have to decide what your goals are for losing weight. If it is for health only, I would think twice with 2small children. The risk of death is only 3% at the highest but if it happens to you it's 100% for your babies. -
Is this website slow or is it just me?

Can't believe it's been 4 Weeks since surgery!
outrigger42 replied to BeccaDawn's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Listen to your doctors plan. Remember how much education a trainer has much less how much they know about the surgical procedure. -
kimkai they told us in our options classes that it depends on the surgeon but most won't.
