    Why Lie?!?!

Well, my boss confirmed it to everyone after the jig was up It's a cruel world, some people will speculate.

    Why Lie?!?!

My old boss lied and told everyone in the office she had hemorrhoid surgery when anyone asked where she had been after missing work for about 2 weeks. After she started losing weight so fast, everyone put two and two together and figured out what really happened and it became all the rage of office gossip. On a high note she lost a lot of weight with her sleeve and was part of the reason I looked into it for me!I didn't want to fall into that category with nosy coworkers so I was straight up about it when I came back from surgery. It took the taboo and guessing off their lips for sure! And almost all have been very supportive and happy for me, at least to my face! The ones who didn't comment, well to each his own - like the saying goes, if you don't have anything nice to say......
  4. I've heard a lot of good things about Premier too!

    How to handle critics?

By walking around and looking/feeling fabulous after your surgery, that's how!!! LOL All kidding aside, I know it's hard, everyone has their own opinions. I'm not hiding my surgery from anyone so I get the occasional question or comment. I've found that most people who are 'worried' for me know someone who knows someone who had complications yada yada yada - and you know what? Every person who fell under this category with complications were bypass or lap band patients from long ago. A LOT has changed in the weight loss field of surgery since then so I educate them that I have no problems and my procedure was MUCH different. That usually silences them and in some cases eases their minds. Others think I had some crazy open stomach scary big bad surgery, so I tell them about my tiny incisions and how pain free I was/am. I also get the 'you weren't that big to start with' b/c I weighed 219 and I'm also young (KIND OF!) at 31. Well I just say "I was too big for me and big enough to be approved!" or "I didn't want to wait until I was older and bigger if I didn't have to!" haha And for the 'all you need to do is diet/exercise' comments, I just say 'I've struggled for a long time, tried everything and finally found something that works' Just keep it simple and to the point, don't let anyone bring you down! Keep your head high, and I promise you won't have any regrets if this is what you truly want. For me, it's been the BEST decision I EVER MADE! I'm two weeks out and I would go back and do it 10 times over.
  6. Trainers mean well, but I take all my questions/advice from my doctor/surgeon - your surgeon is better versed in your needs after surgery than your trainer, especially being only 4 weeks out. Keep the faith! Stalls happen to us all (I'm in one after just two weeks out!) but it will continue to come off I think I've read the norm is 6-8 weeks before working out, but I'm not sure what sort of exertion that means. I know many begin walking long before that. Not much help there
  7. I like Muscle Milk - I buy mine from Wal-Mart. However, I had to thin them out with a little water for the first week I drank them post surgery. They still tasted good though!
  8. I've had this too! I wondered if I was the only one! I'm two weeks out. I can't think of any examples off the top of my head, but I've noticed that since surgery I've had weird dreams almost every night, even after being off my pain meds for almost a week!

    Oh mashed potatoes

Ah! I know that feeling! As soon as I left my Dr's appt and was released to have soft foods, my husband took me straight through a Popeye's drive through and bought a small side of mashed potatoes and gravy. Oh that first bite was heavenly after being on clears for a week!!!

    January Newbies ! Progress ?

update on me: feeling GREAT! however I lost 14 lbs my first week and nothing since. I'm two weeks out and I guess my stall hit early! I'm not down about it though, I read everywhere how these things happen Able to drink more now so I've been focusing on getting more water in and drinking my protein shakes. Love my sleeve!

    January Newbies ! Progress ?

Did you try mixing cold water with your protein shake? I bought muscle milk and it was too thick for me at first so I mixed in cold water and it went down really well! Made a big difference on my tummy!
  14. Don't worry! This happened to me too! I lost 12 lbs my first week and I'm almost at week two and went up a lb! It's just an early stall, and over time the weight will come off
  15. VSG_me

    Early Stall?

I'm losing slow too! Lost 14 lbs my first week out! Have lost nothing going into my second week and am up a lb this morning! I've read it's normal though, and over time the weight comes off

    Wedding anniversary.

I'm sorry you had a rough day - but don't let this get in the way of your anniversary. Reflect on the reasons you love each other, the reason you fell in love with him  Maybe end the night with a little shoulder massage for him and some kind, gentle words. It may just be reciprocated! It's tough, we all have our ups and downs - this surgery can really take its toll as we adjust to our new bodies, new habits, and new lifestyle. Sending hugs your way and positive thoughts

    What's the deal?

I think everyone's experience is different. I'm 12 days post op and the first week having to stay on clear liquids even though I felt fine was hard for me. After about day 4 all I wanted was something with a little substance!! After I moved on to my mushie food stage (week 2 for me) I felt tons better and my 'hunger' or wanting something more than broth, water, etc. was satisfied. Other than that, I haven't been constantly hungry. I sip on water and protein shakes throughout the day and at meal times I eat. I don't feel hungry all the time, I think for me, it was more of having limited items to choose from until I reached a point where I could have more. Also I don't crave foods like a I did before, even when the hubby eats them in front of me. I would have never thought it, but it's true! Just my experience
