December 2012 sleevers. How much have you lost?
Sarahboy13 replied to Tink22-sleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 12/13, down 55 lbs. I feel like things have slowed as well, but a loss is a loss, so I am taking every ounce I get -
11 weeks post-op....When does the heartburn stop...?
Sarahboy13 replied to rmeofone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor puts us on protonix for the first 30-90 days depending on the person and symptoms. You come home from the hospital with it, this is an amazing Heart burn medication!!! I am officially off of it, but when I get the occasion heart burn I take it and it works quickly! Ask your doctor for something, heartburn can cause esophogus issues quickly....you don't want that! -
I think you are getting sick. I never really "threw up" from something not settling, it was more of a regergetation (spelling) it kind of just comes up. and trust me I did that a lot! My Vitamins never made me sick unless I took them when I already ate too much or was just on the edge of eating too much, but never threw up from them. Hope you are feeling better.

At what point can I expect to be able to eat
Sarahboy13 replied to bringiton's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
eat away, you have been cleared for food. You will find they will fill you FAST! So go slow. I find, I tend to order a wrap with grilled chicken and end up taking the tortilla off, I have a little bite and then toss it, it fills me too fast and then I feel yucky. I have no issues now, but in the begininng it was more chicken that would get stuck, just chew everything and you will be fine. Good Luck and Enjoy!!! -
Congratulations!!!!! your stats are almost the same as mine, I am almost there I can taste it. Keep up the good work.

So wish I could, sounds like a great thing to do, they are actual "races" that do this! My knees are awful and stair climbing would send me over the edge right now, right now I am doing my first 5K I don't think you can just enter buildings anymore since 9-11, I would make sure to check before doing it.

Do you regret?
Sarahboy13 replied to LonghornNiner's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you need to drink, the dehydration can cause no energy. I had that in the beginning and it was awful! Also, make sure you are taking your Iron supplement. solid food is the best stage! Enjoy it, find some new recipes and get excited to try them, we are going into the summer months, enjoy grilled foods, fresh fruits and veggies and all that summer offers. -
Please give some answers or encouragement
Sarahboy13 replied to moviemom05's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also 4 months out and stuck, I am only losing about a pound a week. My hubby was stuck at 4 months as well, he actually just started loosing again, much slower than in the beginning. Stick with the plan, it will come off! if you are working out, you are still losing inches. -
Over 3 months out and skin issues..
Sarahboy13 replied to Huntingnurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At ballermom, I average 100-120 a day, I am a little crazy about my protein. -
Try Joseph's pittas or flats if you can find them, you can order them online as well, really low carb and only 60cal for a whole pita!! I think the carb count is 4 , I use them for everything, chicken gyros, pizzas, sandwiches, etc. even though I can usually only get in a quarter of one...lol

Over 3 months out and skin issues..
Sarahboy13 replied to Huntingnurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Protein, protein, protein......gym, gym, gym.... Best way to prevent some of the dimpling and loose skin, but no way to completely stop it. I have some as well, especially my legs....all part if the process :-(. -
listen to everything your body tells you after surgery and NOT what they want you to do! You need to walk and sip, but I was really sick after surgery and if I got up I threw up, I told them to stop all pain meds and I was 100% better! Also, have all your food/liquids ready to go at home, you are not going to want to go out for the first few days. Good Luck and Enjoy the journey!!!!!

Foods that keep you full?
Sarahboy13 replied to Crossfit4Me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat protein about every 2-3 hours, usually breakfast is a protein shake, with fruit or a little peanut butte. I also started doing a fried egg on a 100 calorie wheat english muffin with a slice of cheese, that is around 19 gms of protein and very filling, I usually can't finish. Then around 10:30 I have a greek yogurt or apple with peanut butter. keep mixing things up or your body adapts to what you are eating. I average about 100-120 gms of protein a day, and in order to do that I have to eat 5 times a day -
3 month follow up!
Sarahboy13 replied to Stranger 123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost 4 months out and I have kind of hit a stall, I lost 52 lbs the first 3 months and now it has slowed way down. But I look at it as a loss is a loss, I am losing inches working out and feel better than I ever have, my clothes are falling off, even some of the smaller sized ones Just keep doing what you are doing and the weigh will come off, we didn't put it on in a few months, we can't expect it to come off that fast. -
Anyone here 5'8 weigh 260-270
Sarahboy13 replied to Bmordan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started at 5'9" and I am down about 53 lbs so far. I have some skin, but I had 2 kiddos before surgery, so some of the belly is from that. I have some in the legs, but I carried most my weight there. Just walk and work out when you can, keep your Protein up and that should help with losing fat weight and not muscle weight. Good Luck with the surgery!!! -
What's that smell?
Sarahboy13 replied to BlessedBeyondMeasure2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
get used to taking breath mints, for the first month or so after surgery your breath is horrendous! My hubby had the surgery and I used to make him open the window in the car when he talked I am not very nice, but OMG!!!! Mine wasn't as bad, but it was still funky!!! -
I lived on homemade soups and greek yogurt during that stage Good Luck!

First day back to work tomorrow-- Suggestions? Advice?
Sarahboy13 replied to Kimjo512's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Make sure you have something to "eat". I would suggest a protein shake that you can sip on or some yogurt, you don't want to get light headed. Good luck!! -
4 Mths. post op.... How much can you eat?
Sarahboy13 replied to Sleever01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 12/13, I eat every 2-3 hours that is the only way I get it all in. But I'm hungry :-(. Wish I wasn't. I eat probably about 3/4 cup of food per serving, hitting about 1000 calories and 100-120 gms of protein daily. I tend to graze rather than try a full meal. -
I had that in the beginning, I started keeping water next to my bed and had a little before I actually got up. I also make sure I eat something small before I go to bed, I think it was the lack of calories Luckily it went away.

Day 5 Pre Op Diet Down 10 lbs but Starving!
Sarahboy13 replied to karen353's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
take away all fruit and milk, it has carbs. Once your body hits ketosis you won't be hungry after day 3, your breath will stink and you will have a metallic taste in your mouth but your body will be burning pure fat! Good Luck, you will make it. -
I love my protein shakes, I do something different all the time with them. Try frozen pineapple and vanilla protein, lots of ice and water. Chocolate, with peanut butter and 1/2 banana, lots of ice and water. I always make mine with water and ice, the colder the better, and even though I am not supposed to I use a straw, it is the only way I can get them in. I started a straw about 1 month out of surgery and never have had an issue. Bariatric Foodie has a website and a great cookbook for just protein shakes, experiment and enjoy, they really do help with getting in your protein!!! Good Luck.

to gettinsleeved, I am almost 4 months post op and I am still hungry. I eat every 2-3 hours and get in lots of Protein, they tell me its head hunger, I say B.S.! I just think it is part of the deal, your love for food doesn't go away. I think about what I am going to eat all day long. Be prepared and have food readily available, and something you can eat. I lived on homemade Soups and greek yogurt in the beginning, but I always knew there was something in the fridge that I could have. If you are unprepared you are going to go back to the same junk you used to eat. Just remember the hospital is the worst part of this whole process. I was very sick in the hospital, but it was the meds they were giving me, once I refused all pain meds my stomach thanked me for it. I did have some vomitting the first 2 months, but it was my own stupidity! Eating too fast, or eating too much. Just listen to your doctors and your own body, this is a learning experience, don't be nervous, just be ready for a change! Good Luck!
