Why in the hell did I have this sugery during the holidays! I'm one week out and craving food bad!
Sadlers1999 replied to blkdiamond377's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is definitely not the most ideal time of the year for me to have surgery. My daughter turns 4 in two dayys. Three out of four of my kids have Christmas parties at school. However, I opted for December surgery because our health insurance is changing in January and it would mean us taking on more of the expense. I can't say that I have had any cravings since the surgery was done this past Monday, but my incisions hurt more this morning (day 3 post op), which means moving around hurts more. In any case, we all have to keep our "eye on the prize," which is better health. -

Sorry to hear about your blood pressure, but hopefully as you lose weight, hypertension will be a thing of the past. -

I had my surgery on the 17th after a 3-day clear liquid diet. I feel like I need the pain meds to eat/drink anything. I have so much soreness and tightness in my throat and chest. The dr used an endoscope at the beginning and at the end of the procedure...in addition to the tube they put down your throat during the surgery, so I think that is why my throat is so irritated. I haven't pursued Protein, because at this point I need to stay hydrated.. On the positive side, I can move around pretty well.

I hope all the December 17th sleevers keep in touch on this site. Our journeys may vary slightly, but since we are all starting our "new" lives on the same day, hopefully we will be in sync more often than not. -

I am finding that I need the pain medicine to help my throat and chest. Seems to deaden the feeling a little in those places, which helps with drinking water, etc. I started my vitamins today, but I have not been able to do much with protein drinks, yet. I figure that the swelling needs to come down some before "eating" liquids will be possible. In the meantime, I am just trying to stay hydrated as best I can. -

I had to sign a waiver that I would not drink alcohol for a year if not longer. The way it was explained to me, it has nothing to do with hurting you stomach, but it has everything to do with how your body will handle alcohol. The smaller stomach has fewer enzymes to break down the alcohol and you have teh potential to become inebriated much more quickly. 21 is a special year, but like everyone else said, you should wait. It doesn't matter that there may be alcohol in your Loratab. When you are on Loratab, you are not allowed to drive or handle large equipment/machines because of impaired judgement.

I was able to drink four of the smalll medicine cups within an hour, which allowed me to be released under 48 hours. But, now that I am home, I am having a tough time with water. Will have to try tea in the morning since a few of you recommended it. -

Just Found Out My Insurance Changes 2013

This exactly why I did the WLS yesterday. Part of me would have preferred waiting longer, but our new insurance would not cover it in 2013 -

Preop diet to shrink liver
Sadlers1999 replied to Huntingnurse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Liver can be fatty and covers your stomach. I only was on prep op diet for 3 days and I lost 7 lbs. they told me today that the higher the BMI, the more important it is to do the pre op diet for a longer period of time. -
