Hey quick question. I cant remember what post I read it in but do people post surgery have trouble wiping? What is that from and how long does that last? How long till you can take a shower? And has anyone gotten one of those wiping gagets. I am 33 and pretty limber, should I be worried?

Greetings, I am slightly upset about what my Phychologist said yesterday. I was there for my evaluation (which I passed) and he told me that there is an 80% divorce rate of wls patients. I have heard about divorces, after wls, but 80% is astounding. Does anyone know if this is true? My doc said that if my husband and I start to show signs of distress that we should consider seeking counceling. What do you think about this? It definately makes sense that with weight loss, alot of normal situations would become different.

They brought you a sprite???? WTF, I mean is that like a test to see if you blow up before you go home? I use straws during the week when ever they present them selves to me and I have no problems 5 weeks out. My advice is try it and see how it makes you feel. If it doesnt work, DONT use straw :biggrin0: xoxo

Ok, so I am 5 weeks out and for the last two weeks I havent exercised that much. I am eating very little calories and am baffled why I am not losing weight. So, I am eating about 600-900 calories a day, protien (lean), vegetables (grilled, lightly sauted), and fruit (every other day when i am craving sweets). So I found that when I exercised on machines I was hungry all day. That is one of the reasons that I did this surgery because with my band at the end I was hungry allllll the time. I have lost 27lbs and my doctor said that I should expect 20lbs a month for the first three months. So I just wonder if I am normal or doing something wrong. I know everything is not exact and everyone is different, but I just wonder if I could be doing better. I think I need to get in and exercise more and see what that does. Would anyone here like to chime in and give me some advice. PUrdy please
-
Well I upped my calories and protien and I am now down to 31 yay. Next week I am resolved to get more exercise in whatever form. Its getting into the 90's here so it kinda sucks being outside but there is pools and gyms. XOOX

Im so glad you made the choice to do this surgery. I am still amazed everyday that I can only eat so little and that I am losing weight. Keep walking a little bit more every day, you are still pretty new so taking it easy isnt the worst thing. Just make sure to follow your post op instructions and depending on your post op diet, PROTIEN is the key to quick healing. My doc wanted me to get in 40g of protien for the first few weeks and I used that liquid Isopure mixed with a variety of other liquids to kill the taste. I know that getting in the protien gave me energy and healed me quick. Isnt it just unbelievable that you recover so quick. I still cant believe how quick the recovery was and now if it wasnt for the small scars and the small appetite i would never know. AMAZING. Congrats and keep us informed.

Is it possible to 80lbs in 4 weeks?
Phatcurves replied to bigjay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah no kidding, I lost 27lbs and I am week five as of wed. I have been dribbling since week three. GRRRR I really wish my weight would start to move again. I guess I am just feeling scared that I am going to fail again. BUT you must keep us posted because if that is really true you must give me your exact day to day eating or drinking regime so I can on your band wagon LOL. YOur doing great no matter what! -
Ok, So I know i have had the surgery and was pretty well informed but TIFF you are GREAT lol. Thanks again for putting this up because it made my explanation to a friend a TON easier.

Swimming & Steak...
Phatcurves replied to gatormomof2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
WOW Im so excited for you. I have been to chicken lol for steak. I have been eating everything else though. This last week I had some squash and roasted bell pepper and cantalope OMG nectar of the GODS. HEHE. Seriously I have been having a cup of cantalope and half a container of MYOPLEX high protien drink (just half) 22g of protien for brunch every day and it is really making me feel great. Just enough Fiber, and protien to get things going. I am really enjoying things I never ate before my sleeve. I am going thru my time of the month and I tell you I got really nervous because besides craving everything, it was my bday and part of me was like OHHH CAKE and OHHH STEAK and HMM what else. But it was weird, I didnt really even want it. I had a bite of bday cake, (one slice from the grocery) and was like Umm this isnt as good as I thought it would be, hmmm where is the mangos and cantalope. NOW coming from a cake, chocolate and sugar junkie I find this turn of events amazing. good going with the swimming, I am going to go in tomorrow in honor of you. My incisions are healed and ready to be submerged. GL this week and congrats on your movement. -
So I decided to surprise my bf with a san francisco trip this weekend. So the drive was uncomfortable for me and there was nothing good on the road to eat that didnt make me feel like I was having a dumping moment. We get here and normally we would order room service and then go out and explore etc. So we get here he orders with out telling me, and i get out of the shower to chocolate Cookies and sweet potato fries. This starts a huge arguement, so i have a few fries and feel ok and he is like why arent you eating more.... at which point i freaking lose it, screaming in this suite that is bigger then our apt. So i have a few more and then start to feel ill, mainly i know I was feeling crummy from the drive as my big inscision is still tender two weeks out. SO i am laying down feeling sick and he comes in and is like this is not how i envisioned this weekend..I AM LIKE NO SHIT, sorry I dont mean to curse. So we had plans to go to a comedy club tonight and I nixed it for tomrrow. Anyways he is like ok lets eat dinner now and I aam just annoyed because I guess I needed to plan ahead. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR. ok sorry to vent I just know you would understand group

I'm in Freaking hell
Phatcurves replied to Phatcurves's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you all and I know that I am making a wise decision. I got into a huge fight with him last night over the dumbest thing and I packed a small bag laptop included (my wifi reached the other apartment ironicly) and left. SO he didnt even text me or call, wow he cares. LOL but i knew that already. So I have just bought a couch and recliner and a small bed although the one in the main apt is mine. I hid my car so he wouldnt see it and I slept there. I missed the cats so freaking bad but waking up in my other apt was so nice. I have to admit I was lonely and a little scared. So when I got up i knew he was at work I went to the other apt and got in MY big bed with my four cats who all cuddled with me for a blissfully long nap. Its looking good so far. Today i transfered my 10x10 storage unit into a 10x20 with help since i cant lift anything heavier then 10lbs. TOTAL JOKE. and now i have plenty of room if i want to clean out some of the clutter along with the baggage that is HIM. TOMORROW is one month and I cant even believe how quick it went. xoxox -
I'm in Freaking hell
Phatcurves replied to Phatcurves's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thank you all for your blunt and sometimes harsh comments. I completely understand that at some point you can not blame the other person you have to blame yourself for staying with them. He and I completely had it out and I said things that need to be said for four years. The main theme was that he is UNHAPPY and his only happiness comes from dragging other people ME, his family etc down into the dumps. We fought for hours and he kept denying and twisting it on me. So yesterday I rented my own apt in secret and started slowly moving things over. I can only do so much because of my doctors Stupid TEN pound or less rule. But With in the next couple of weeks more stuff is going to start disappearing. Geez i have a ton of crap. Anyways He is 43 and i am 34 come this thurs. By now he is who he is and there will be no changing him or his attitude. I really feel sorry for him because I know as a person he is miserable and before I met him I was SUPER happy all the time and I know that he hasnt felt that in years. Anyways thanks for your coments. I am sure until I am fully out I will have more crap to talk about but hopefully that wont be to much longer. xoxox -
Two Weeks Since Surgery
Phatcurves replied to txrdnk903's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can tell you that for the last week I have been kinda depressed about losing too. First I have private stuff I am going thru but for about a week and a half I have been the same weight. Up one down one up one down one, but basicly stuck at 287 which is like 24 down since may 12. While I AM PSYCHED about that I cant help but wonder if I am doing something wrong. I find that if I get on an exercise machine I am hungry all freaking day. Does that happen to anyone else? I seem to be able to eat more then most people although I am not eating a lot. I just am so scared like you that I am not going to see results like I did with the lap band.. NOW please no one yell at me because I realize that 24 is great but I just wonder how long I should have no movement before I start to worry. PS. to those who wrote me about a previous bf post. I WILL GE$T back to you i just have been kinda in a depressed hermit state and with the stall I am just sinking lower. -

Phatcurves replied to Phatcurves's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Ok, no pumkin you are very accurate in your assesment. I am not sure why but for some reason probably low self esteem i feel stuck to this guy and its sort of rediculous because before I met him I was a strong woman. But your right, he laughs while I cry, never touchy or complimentary (probably because he hates himself). So I have been sleeved for two weeks, after telling him my post op schedule for liquids and soft foods etc, he has asked me 4x since my surgery if I could go get a steak. Then when I flipped out because yet again I had to explain it he called me dramatic and said hopefully losing weight will improve my attitude. Blah ok I need not talk about him now since I think my low grade fever is finally going away thanks to some liquid tylenol. BTW how cool i just went to an all night cvs and they had fresh fruits and veggies. (random side not) So i got a mango for Breakfast to have with my 100calorie muscle milk. I knjow that a change in my pathetic relationship is coming up I guess I just need to feel a little more confidant. Also I have never ever lived alone. I am 33, i went back and forth to each parent after a divorce (weekly) met the man I was going to marry at 18 moved in right away and then lived with him for 12 years followed by an abrupt identity crisis for missing my youth, then I hooked up with this winner for the past four years and well I guess i might be scared to be alone. My dad says its the best way to find out who you are and what YOU like. He is right but I am still scared. xoxo all -
Feeling a little frustrated today ......
Phatcurves replied to Timetofly's topic in Food and Nutrition
I feel like a complete odd ball, I have a size 34 and for dinner i had about 2.5 table spoons of salmon with 2 tablespoons of spinich and mashed. I felt full and very comfortable. The other day I ate 3/4 of a crab cake that was the size of a half dollar. IS that weird? I can eat almost anything except creamy or icecreamy things, but my portions are small. -
WOW that is so awesome, I hope I can lose 70-100 in four months. Just out of curiosity how many calories are you eating? I find that two weeks out I am around 800-900. Where do you end up? WOW again, lol congrats!!

Cant decide / please help
Phatcurves replied to ninaboo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can only speak from experience. With the lap band I was miserable for 5 years and now that I am sleeved i have serious regret for not doing the sure thing the first time. Let me put it this way, you have 40 percent chance of NOT succeeding from the lap band as a result of malfuntion or you side stepping the band. The port is intrusive and sticks out and unless you find your sweet spot your either puking or gorging. CHOSE wisely because chances are you are going to have to pay for two surgeries if you get the band. Good luck to you whatever you do. -
Day 4 Post Op - Hi from down under
Phatcurves replied to Catbert6's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Im so glad that you now are sleeved and know that you will be very successful. My only advice is roll with the punches and do not let anything (like little bumps in the scale) get in your way. -
Ok, so yesterday was officially 2 weeks and I want to tell all you newbies and lurkers how much of an impact this surgery can have for you. I have lost 23 pounds and am eating about 800 calories a day. The week before I had this surgery the hunger I felt never seemed to go away. What I mean is that I would eat and within a very short time I would be hungry again. NOW, my hunger is different. I do get hungry but it doesnt feel the same and when i go to eat, NO JOKE the smallest amount fills me so comfortably it is A FREAKING MIRACLE. For the last five years I have lived with the band and felt like a complete failure for being so hungry when a tool was in place. Well I CAN TELL YOU that the band is not for anyone who has more then 40lbs to lose. And even then if you make bad choices you are going to waste your money. With in the two weeks of healing time my ankles are no longer swollen (I can see both malleoluses or ankle bones) my back no longer hurts, I am falling out of my jeans which I keep washing and drying to shrink. I feel amazing and more then anything else that nagging hunger is gone Gone GONEEEEEEEEEEE. When I do get hungry I am satiated by the smallest amount and that feels so good although I am starting to get impatient waiting for my ahole bf to finish eating. I went to this fish place yesterday and normally I could eat about 30 clams and some Soup and bread. I ate 3/4 of a crab cake the size of a half dollar, one clam and I was DONE. But I didnt feel that normal OMG I AM BURSTING, it was a comfortable feeling of ok, I think I feel full and its a good time to stop. That to me is a success in its self, because I was a notorious over eater and wouldnt stop till i practically wanted to puke. Anyways, I hope for those who are lurking, you dont wait to long, as I wish I did this instead of the band five years ago. To all of you who have been supportive, thanks I really appreciate it. Testify SISTA Testify
Phatcurves replied to Phatcurves's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
KabinKitty, at first I lost weight on the band. I was 335 five years ago and I went all the way down to 255 at my lowest. Slowly I started to throw up after every meal. So they had to loosen it and as a result I gained weight. So then I got put on phentermine which worked great for a few months and I started losing again. I ended up falling into the 40% of people who had problems, and my problem was I could not fill it enough to keep restriction without puking my guts out after or during anymeal. The band seriously is a FICKLE BIA!!!! STCYT I too was fearful that the little tiny bit of food was going to leave me hungry, but as you say it is really is just enough. Currently I feel a little self conscious and nervous bout my future success only because I failed with the band. With the band I either threw up while eating or sat there and finished my plate and either way it made me feel like a complete failure. Little by little every time I go to eat and actually feel restriction and comfort some of my fears are eliminated. SO I guess over time that willl work itself out. I am probably going to have mental food issues for a long time, which is another reason I should go see a therapist. ** I really wish that I hadnt gained 30lbs in the past few months. Instead of 311 I could have been 270 which is what I was a few months ago and my 23lbs would have gotten me further. Now I have to lose what I recently gained. DONT WAIT PEOPLE>>>>>SEIZE THE DAY!!!! Life is to short to be unhappy any longer. -
Thats so awesome. I am glad it went well and you are doing well. FYI it took nearly a week for my first BM and I was so excited I called everyone so I gettcha lol. We have the same size 34f yay. Anyways take care and follow your doctors instructions to the letter.
