Anyone here from Texas?
leeann71 replied to shielanotsheila's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I didn't have a revision. I used Dr. Kim. He is a really great surgeon. Only problem I have with him is seeing him after the surgery. I only met him once and he spoke to my husband after the surgery. To me it just didn't feel personal enough. Other doctors take care of you after the surgery and during your stay at the hospital. -
Laura I do know what you mean by addiction. I know my self that food is not the only addiction I have had in my life. The most scariest part for me is if I continue to give up the foods that I love, are the past addictions gonna creep back in my life? I used food to get past the old habits that I use to have. I just hope that we can all make it past this obstacle course that we are on and be able to stay strong enough to win this war.

Where the heck is my restriction
leeann71 replied to lwilliams65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WTH? Protein protein protein!!! Eat every couple of hours if you need to. Just make sure it is protein. Stay away from fast food. It will eventualy kill you even if you are sleeved. You can puree any meat with a sauce or light gravy. Go to the site the worldaccordingto eggface.com. She has great suggestions and recipes for every stage. Good luck and remember protien first before anything. That helps curb your appetite. -

How common is a liver biopsy with VSG?
leeann71 replied to SherriRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the biopsy as well while having my VSG. It is to see how fatty your liver is. The surgeon said that mine was great on 10%fat thank god. I also had biopsy of my stomach when they did the EGD. I was told that both are standard practice for my Dr. I had a little pain in the area for about a week it got better over time. Good luck. Oh one more thing WELCOME to the sleeve side! -

Weight gain, insurance, no support, I just need to VENT!
leeann71 replied to TinaM8's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Tina, I really dont know what to tell you lol. What I can say is my dr. cut my deductable in half so I could get my surgery. There are a lot of doctors in Texas that will do that. Have you had any slippage or problems with the band? What about high cholesterol, sleep apnea, asthma? There are alot of health problems from being overweight. Bladder problems, varicose veins? Just to name a few. Good luck! I would if I were you fight fire with fire lol. -

I am glad you read the complications threads. It is important to know what could happen and what signs to look for after your surgery. Please remember complications is only about 5% as fiddleman said. Congratulations on your approval. This is the BEST thing I ever did for myself and family.
