Would you have paid without insurance coverage?
leeann71 replied to Houston17's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also got my total bill about a month ago ready... 65000 and they havent even added in the prostetic part of it. The staples are 12000. I have insurance I only paid 956.00. And to answer your question yes I would pay for it if I had to. But I would have to go to Mexico. -
I had a surgery for this back in 2002. They can also do the surgery vaginal. They dont have to cut you open. I healed very fast, the pain was very minimal.

Thats great. Just remember all bad carbs are gonna go down very easy. Dense protein will not. Make sure your protein is not dry either or it will be very hard to swallow and kind of feel like a rock in your stomache. Always pace yourself when eating and when you start to feel full stop. Keep up the great work it will pay off.

Just make sure you are putting dense protein in first, veggies second and good carbs third. I would really try to stay away from bread products because they become gummie and doughie in your new sleeve. They are not to good for you.

For me, when I finally woke up in my room I was in excruciating pain. I have three children and two of them are twins and I had all of them natural. I will say the pain is right up there with goving birth. There are alot of people who had this surgery with little or no pain unfortunatly I was not one of them. I walked as soon as I could. That does help with the gas. I on the other hand was in more pain from my stomach. I wish you the best of luck. Oh yeah one more thing, I would do it again in a heartbeat. I have lost 52lbs in 4+ months. And remember the pain does eventually go away and so does your weight and most medical problems if you have any.

Postop Dehydration
leeann71 replied to MsVictorious1020's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try sugar free popsicles. That is what helped me the most in the begining. I also sipped propel water. To me it was not as hard like plain water. I wish you a speedy recovery. Get well soon. -

leeann71 replied to Deeda26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had heartburn ever since I have had this surgery. Im 4 1/2 months out now. Talk to your dr. and see if they can prescribe you a PPI for the acid. I take it everyday and it makes a big difference. Good luck hope you feel well soon. -

Welcome sleeve sister. Congratulations on becoming the real you. We are all here for you. -
The only concept I can come up with is portion control. I will not be a slave to the diet world anymore. After I finally lose all my weight I will eat what I like as long as it is portion controled. I have always been around thin healthy people in my family and everyone of the have always told me, eat what I want just not so much. I also see how thin people eat and the majority only eat small quantities, but it is what ever the y want. But until I do reach my goal I will continue to be on a diet.

We are all here for you. With you being so young and making such a life changing decision I know this has got to be one of the hardet things you have ever done. Please take it one day at a time. Make sure you get as much fluid as you can and then start getting in your protein. As for your family eating in front of you, go to another place in your home where you wont have to see or hear them. For me the first month it made me sick to my stomach to see or hear people eat. Keep positive! I know you can get through this, it will just take a little time.

Child free... Way off topic
leeann71 replied to apricot1119's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I feel this way about it. I was very young when I had my son at age 18 and the had my twin girls at 19. To me and my husband they are a blessing from God. As for anyone who does not want children than please don't have them! There are way to many children out there whose parents did not want them to begin with :’( . Stick to your decision. You are the one person who has to live with the choice you make. -
What is average weight loss for 1 month?
leeann71 replied to taffyscorner76's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hang in there vickyl. It takes time to lose the weight we put on over years. Keep yourself super hydrated and make sure your eating your dense proteins first then veggies and then carbs if you have the room. The weight will come off you just have to have patiences. Good luck we are here for you. -
