Anyone else binge before they had surgery?
Didit12262012 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am less than two weeks from surgery and find myself trying to eat everything that I know I won't be able to after surgery... am I mental? Of did anyone else feel this way or do this? Feedback... Keep it real please. Thank you. -
Anyone Not Tell Family Or Friends?
Didit12262012 replied to max206's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Surgery scheduled for 12/26/12.... only told my family - not inlaws, husband, my 2 kids, and my absolute BFF... 36 y/o female. Have lots of aquaintances, but don't think it's any of their businesss and am not soliciting the advice or the judgement of those that know little to nothing about the procedure. I am starting with a low BMI of 33, and only I deal with my emotional rollercoaster. In my opinion people judge and just like those that say - yes go get skinny, sometimes when it happens for you - there is jealousy and that jealousy turns to persecution "well she couldn't do it without surgery..." No **** sherlock, that's why I decided to do it. Long story short - it's personal and my anticipated response to those that do ask how I did it??? Lifestyle change and healthy eating! It's the truth isn't it? -
Recovery time, nausea, and air?
Didit12262012 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What has everyones experience been with recovery time... etc? I am scheduled for surgery 12/26/12, and return to work post op seven days to the date. Curious about external wounds and internal healing, as well as what I have read about nausea and gas? Any clarity is appreciated. Thank you. -

Thx SleeveMaster - I appreciate your candor and honesty. I will keep everyone posted. As of right now - I am done with preop testing and scheduled for Surgery 12/26. Its not a matter of if... it's a matter of hearing others experiences and knowing I am not alone. Again, I respect everyone's opinions and appreciate the mutual honesty. -

What is the worry with the side and stomach sleeping? Is it the external incisions or is it the fear of the stomach (internally) kinking? Educate me please... PS Newbie - go in 12/26 and would love to hear all the responses as well. I return to work 7 days post op. Thanks for posting. Keep ya in my prayers... sister! -

I'm not going to Mexico - that would freak me out... I am a self pay patient - my husband and I used our CU to finance the surgery. I also do not have any health issues. I guess that's one of the scary parts - I wonder if I will develop issues post op different than those that are due to being overweight, etc. Although I am not diabetic or have high blood pressure I do realize that at the weight I am today - I am very inactive, always tired, have depressive tendencies, etc. Unlike most patients I do worry about things such as getting too small. My RD, explained that if I was to reach goal and not want to lose anymore that my diet regimen should change to include more calorie dense foods - thus stabilizing the weight. That was comforting, but being a skeptic - I also wonder if they are just telling me what I want to hear? #conflicted Like I said, I teeter totter - I dont see anything else working long term, nor do I see myself having the ability to go it alone.. It's been a life long battle. And to me it's sad because what I find is that if you are somewhere in the middle of "normal" and "obese" there is little to no help - becuase people assume that you are just lazy and could lose the weight on your own. Last year I spent 6 months training with a personal trainer 6 days a week... only to get down to 179. I was strong no doubt but I was still big. (And not like bulging muscles big) just big...
