  1. I just had my one month post-op visits and I am down about 30 pounds including the one week Pre-op diet. I told the dietician I was frustrated with it being only about 9 pounds lower in the last 3 weeks. I showed her myfitnesspal history on my phone and she said that I am way under on carbs and calories. I explained that I am always getting in my Protein, but no where in my books did it guide me as far as carbs and calories. She said they intentionally do that to not overwhelm people with counting things, but that if I am using myfitnesspal then I am ready. She said to aim for 1000-1200 calories and 150 to 164 in carbs. Wow!!! I looked back and was so low every day. She explained that if I don't give my body the carbs and calories to use for energy that it will go to my protein store. In the end I will be losing muscle and storing fat. Good old starvation mode. I was so surprised that I was that far off so I thought I'd share. I'll let everyone know of the increases make a positive impact on my weight loss. Either way I am happy with being out of the 300's and will Celebrate that!!! -Kimi
  2. I had a closet ranging from 28 to 18. I have bags of the larger sizes to donate. But it is so weird that I am in a very baggy 20, but can't even come close to zipping those size 18 pants. The sad thing is that I only own 3 size 20s and a dozen 18s. I joke that the day I buy more 20s, the next day all the 18s will fit. So, I put my chin up and laugh at my own baggy pants. Luckily work has been awesome as 2 of my 3 pairs of pants are dark denim. Thank goodness for understanding bosses!
  3. Guess I should have mentioned that I do regularly exercise and am cleared to go back to the usual routine now. So that might be why I need more. I was so tired all the time. And I was told to eat the good carbs like fruit. So that will mean adding applesauce and fruit cups with my meals even if it takes me two increments to finish a meal. I don't see how I can get to what the NUT said, but I was able to increase the carbs and calories past few days. So I will see how it goes. I am adding back Water aerobics twice a week this week too so I don't want to be so exhausted. I do think its so cray how some people are still on liquids a month out and others are allowed a lot more even if its still soft. Such extremes. I wish they would give me a list of what to eat for every meal and snack for the first few months. Sure would make it easier. Ugh.
  4. I made a bunch of freezer bagged slow cooker meals, casseroles, soups, stews, etc and stocked the freezer. This way it'll be a long time before I need to prep and taste things. I used a few good websites let me know if this would help you. I can find them. I have always been thins kind of cook for weekdays so I just doubled all my usual recipes and stocked it! Otherwise I am sure I would be more tempted. I even threw a slow cooker meal in post op day 3 to treat my neighbors who were babysitting me while my hubby went to work.
  5. So I am 5 days pot-op (yeah) and keep getting nose bleeds. I have terrible allergies and haven't taken my Zyrtec again since surgery. I also haven't had a nosebleed in years. I am guessing the are due to the post-op Lovenox injections. Anyone else experience these and what did you do?
  6. I was sleeved on the 19th too. Spent one night in the hospital so in all honestly I hardly drank anything on the 19th and 20th except sf Popsicles and vitamin water. Started yesterday adding unflavored protein powder to my crystal light and vitamin water. I also got down one jello cup yesterday. I even put the unflavored protein in my chicken broth. I am doing ok with protein because of that. Nausea has been ok, but gas is another story along with a few hiccup sessions and 3 bloody noses from the blood thinners. Ugh. Tomorrow I graduate to milk based protein drinks, yogurt, etc. my doc gave me a very detailed diet and instruction book so I have everything here. Pain is better today but still not brave enough to shower. Will try that in the morning. We can do this!!!!
  7. I'm in Roseville. My sleeve is tomorrow. I think there's one in Madison Heights at St. John Oakland 1st Mondays at 6. http://stjohnprovidenceweightloss.com/default/calendar-of-events
  8. Just joined after browsing here a few times. My sleeve is on Dec. 19th. It's day 3 of my preop diet. I am a surgical nurse and I can't wait to not hurt everyday. I am excited and nervous. I appreciate everyone's honesty on here. It has really helped me decide who to tell and how to tell them what's going on. I have a great husband and support system. As I am telling people I am finding that people are really excited and positive which is awesome. Anyone else missing coffee creamer like I am? So weird that I was so attached to it!! Haha.
