  4. I'm sorry to say this but I have Kaiser Permanente and I got my Lapband removed for free with everything covered. I got the sleeve a year later and paid nothing as well. In 2008 I got the band done in Mexico when I was uninsured an paid $6500 for a torture device so I know the pain of self-pay. You don't have insurance that covers it??

    There's no one you can ask to accompany you? Having someone physically and emotionally help me was very helpful as waking up can be painful and scary. I hope you find someone to go with you.

    Post workout fuel

    Mike Ross thanks for your reply. Haha I get why you thought I ate a lot, because I said I ate 750calories. I meant the entire day. I was done with my meals THEN worked out and didn't want to eat more calories after workout. Before workout I had a cup of chicken and bean Soup I made. I figured that's carbs and Protein. My boyfriend has been telling me not to workout so hard bc I'm healing but I feel crazy that I don't lose!! The scale has not changed for me and I am eating drastically less than pre sleeve days (all of us are I know) so I wanted to get off on the right foot and workout. I have felt fine but after reading a lot on this forum I will wait a while to lift weights (which I really enjoy doing) And let my body heal. I just feel I am at a slow place. The Dr. said my restriction and loss will be slower because I previously had the Lapband. Anyway, thanks everyone.

    MFP Cardio... Suggestions

    I swim often and I have been I confused too. I consider it for my own effort. If I was working hard than that is MY vigorous so I put it. Lol. 20min is a good workout because its 3x the workout on land thanks to water's resistance.

    how do you start

    May I recommend learning how to swim different strokes and lap swimming? Not only is it a good time to clear your mind and be alone but it's a total body workout and it does NOT hurt your joints because their is no impact. It has helped time my arms legs and back in the past and I can feel my heart rate jump up when I push hard. 45min of vigorous lap swimming burns 740calories! And afterward I feel pumped! I swim, do Zumba, hike and I started doing the couch to 5k running intervals w my boyfriend but running to me gets boring. Good luck!

    Zumba

    I did Zumba week 3 but didn't feel fully energetic enough until week 4. I had dull pain when jumping around the first week but I just stopped and tried again another day and I'm fine. You'll do great!

    Any recommendations what to start with

    I started Zumba once I was cleared at 2weeks. I couldn't do much the 1st time due to some dull pains at the incision sites and fatigue due to calories but now I am 4.5 weeks out and I am back in the game (pre wls I did Zumba every week for over a year) and I feel great! I have felt a little dizzy but I just modify it. I have also been swimming laps which I had enjoyed prior to WLS. When I was younger swimming laps helped me lose a lot of weight and toned my entire body. I'm hoping to get back to that post sleeve. Swimming is very good for the sleeve because its not strenuous but burns a lot of calories.

    Marriage - I Don't Know If...

    I agree with everyone an moreover, I think your marriage is more at risk if you stay obese (aka at risk for multiple illnesses and depression and physical limitations). I think staying overweight for his insecurities is dangerous for both of you right now. This may help you both get healthy and have a better sex life. This may make him resentful and make the relationship difficult but that is an action e can and should control. I would be more concerned that you yourself will become resentful of HIM if you don't get the surgery. Then if that resentment breaks you up AND you're still obese, that's even worse. Not to worry you, my point is, your choosing to get healthy is so many ways, that should be best for your relationship with everyone including. And most importantly, yourself. My bf was always supportive without being pushy. He is very protective of how I healed and now we work out together. He never worked out or liked eating at home before my surgery but now it's become quality time we enjoy together. You may be surprised how your change inspires him. ???? Good luck.

    PDX man, can you give me some good carbs I can eat at 4months? I've had some oatmeal and love beans. Anything else? I feel guilty eating carbs or eating over 600 cal w this sleeve but I also get bouts of fatigue.

    It sounds like you two will be just fine trough this WLS ride! And what is so wrong with wanting this surgery for vanity along with health? I'm sure you're not a VAIN person but you losing weight and wearing clothes you love will make you feel good. That is good for your mental health which is definitely related to your physical health. Hell yeah I want this surgery because I don't want diabetes or a heart attack. I really got it because I don't want to weigh over 300lbs when I get pregnant. But damn right I want to look good and wear a pretty dress like a pin-up girl. My fantasy is to take those boudoir pictures for my man where I look like a 50's pin up girl. Me being fat before WLS just worsened my mental health and physical. Now I have more hope and that makes me eat better which makes me physically healthy. I'm glad you have your best friend supporting you. He really wants to keep you happy and allllll his:) My boyfriend is so supportive. He reassures me that I just had surgery to be patient and he reminds me that he loves me any way I am. I noticed him trying to lose for me too. We must be doing something right, right??

    Wow first I think it's a great sign of your marriage your husband told you how he felt instead of closing up and ignoring you. And secondly he really adores you and your connection with him is really important to him too. I'm sure you made him know how much you want him and still are hot by him. I think this is a good lesson for me to see that our men may be nervous about our new weight loss just and we are nervous about our change too. Well congrats on a marrying a good man!! Lol. What's the secret to knowing he's the one you should marry?

    fruit craving help please

    I have eaten raspberries mashed into Greek yogurt and I was one. I have has blueberries and was fine. A banana was fine but I blended it. I'm are it would fill you up quickly. I am of the belief your body wants fruit and is needing potassium.

I have been working out 5days a week for the last 2weeks. I feel like I'm eating more calories than others in my time frame but I feel like I am starving myself if I eat only 500 calories and burn 700 working out. Is there a right answer??? Thanks for your time!!!
