Just curious, I wasn't instructed to do any specific pre op diet, only clear liquids for the day before and a laxative. Is that common???
-
Hi! What can you take while on full liquids for this?
-
I am 4 days out and still get this horrible pain off and on in the tops of my shoulders and chest/neck area. Sometimes when I drink, and sometimes just out of the blue. Also happens when I drink in what feels like my esophagus. I've been using gas x strips like crazy!! But no relief yet...

I had my sleeve done Wednesday morning (23rd). I had horrible pain the first day that gradually got better. I also had a hernia repaired. I'm scared of pushing too hard to get things in and cause a leak. I'm wondering if most of my pain is gas because u hurt just above my belly button. But i still have that horrible pain in center of chest when I swallow. So I'm getting in about 2 oz of some type of liquid every 1-2 hours. I know that's nowhere near close to 64 oz.....

3 days out...is this normal?
Lissa81 replied to Lissa81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I've had to sleep sitting up on the couch too! It's really been a lot more painful than I anticipated . Maybe I should back off the pain meds to see if that helps with the gas. When is it normal to have a BM?? -
What are symptoms of a leak?

What are we supposed to look For as far as dehydration? They didn't elaborate much with me...

Oklahomagirl you had hernia repair as well? I'm wondering if the hernia repair is why I'm more miserable than I expected to be!
-
Yes! Kind of like liquid going thru a funnel and the air bubbling up out of it

Any ladies out there have PCOS put your hands up!
Lissa81 replied to Red_lips_and_confidence's topic in The Gals' Room
Hi! I also have PCOS/Insulin Resistance and am hoping my insurance approves me for the same reasons! I will have my final weigh in end of August... -
Im so frustrated, just forked over $550 to surgeons office for non covered testing, only to find out that I dont have a comorbidity (the fact that I take Metformin isnt enough because im not diabetic, only insulin resistant). My BMI just barely hit 40, so I was told that they could submit pictures from the last 3 years to show that i was obese to hopefully cover the past 3 years, then i would have to have supervised weigh ins with dietician for 7 months and not lose an ounce to qualify. They even told me to leave shoes on and stuff in pockets. My question is has anyone had any luck with Blue Cross AL approving them with photos instead of weight history? (My BMI wasnt up to 40 a few years ago so I dont need to submit weights). Im gonna be sick if I cant get approved after paying this much out of pocket!

Hi! Well the insurance department had me gather up pictures from the last 3 years since my BMI hasn't been at 40 until the past year. When I showed them the pics I was told those should work for approval, but I have to get my GP to sign off authenticating that it is indeed me. My 7th weigh in will be in August, so hopefully I will be scheduled sometime sept/oct! Please pray that all goes thru!

Policy states BMI 35 or > with 1 comorbidity for 3 yrs, does taking metformin count even if its for increased Insulin and not glucose?
-
well, I went for visit yesterday and Kathy told me I would have to get pictures from the last 3 years for her to submit and weight in for 7 months straight. I sure hope the photos work or Im out of luck!
-
Oh that's a big comfort to know! Thanks! I go the 22nd for surgeon and dietician visit. I'm only 2 months into my 6 month supervised diet, but maybe they can Tell me something
-
Wow, I'm just hoping this office doesn't get my $550 out of pocket and leave me hanging! Thanks for the input ill keep them in mind! Oh, and did you meet the 40 BMI or 35 with comorbidity for the 3 yrs?

I'm in North Alabama just South of Huntsville. I work in Huntsville so I'm seeing Dr Foreman there. I did talk to the group in Birmingham though, and I have to say over the phone they seemed more helpful! If I get rejected, I may switch to that group. It's only a little over an hour away. Does that group make you do a metabolic cart and h pylori test?
-
Thanks, yeah I have to show the last 3 years BMI's as well...
-
thanks! since i posted i have seen my family dr. and told him what i wanted done. he told me to write a letter stating all of my previous attempts at weight loss (with failures and successes) and the fact that I take Metformin, and he would submit this to my insurance company. He got my BMI and told me I needed to come in once a month for 6 months for BMI check (he gave me a diabetic diet to follow). I also went to bariatric surgeons ofc and had a metabolic cart test done, and will have next appt with surgeon and dietician feb 22nd for the H Pylori test. I am just terrified of spending all this out of pocket at surgeons office ($550!) and being rejected by the insurance! My BMI is under 40 but the comorbidity im going with is having to take Metformin for my Insulin resistance. Say a prayer for me that all goes through smoothly!
