Lying about weight loss and/or months on a program
Gregory Donlin replied to Ree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was in the same situation last year with my surgery I was able to get it done. Had my surgery on Dec 19. You should talk to the coordinators in your hospital it is their job to work issues like this and also they know all the requirements from the different insurance companies. Believe me they are there to help. -

Biggest regrets about getting the sleeve?
Gregory Donlin replied to NewSetOfCurves's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I for one have no regrets! But I'm going to say this to all my Pre Sleevers do research on your surgeon I originally was scheduled with this one surgeon and luckily was told by a friend about negative issues with him. I changed surgeons and was so happy I did I love my surgeon and the hospital they go the extra mile to ensure safety and provide council and information. -
Potential young sleever -- help deciding what to do? I need advice...
Gregory Donlin replied to annagene12's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Of course getting surgery is a personal decision I'm 38 I have always been overweight. I have done all the diets and the money spent on dieting is astronomical. I met with my surgeon on a consultation and he was very informative on what was involved with the different kind of surgeries and also some hard core numbers on how dieting just doesn't work. 90% of diets fail! By failing I mean you lose weight but end up gaining it back sometimes even more than before. As a young person you are taking a step now to take control of your life before major health problems set in. If I can be a help to anybody just add me as a friend! My name is Greg I am 6 months post op I have lost 100 lbs since then. -
Lying about weight loss and/or months on a program
Gregory Donlin replied to Ree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeah it is useless to lie about it because most Ins companies require documentation for everything. I needed to have 3 consecutive months NUT counciling and many other Dr visits before my surgery was approved. Pulmonary,Ultrasounds, cardiology, and If something isn't kosher in your documentation guess what. You have to start all over again so it's better to have all your ducks in a row. Your hospital should be keeping track of that stuff for you. -
Sex Life ***** warning potentialy graphic conversations
Gregory Donlin replied to MizzouFan1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
From a guys point of view Sex is so much better now I am able to do more positions than before my Stamina is better than ever before. Not to get to graphic but it appears like my sex organ is getting bigger as well! HaHa -
Yeah this has been a struggle for this Filipino guy giving up rice or eating small amounts. But for the most part I have been good in eating just a small amount. My eating strategy is to eat protein first and then have some carbs.

I also thought about keeping it a secret. I was thinking what would people say about me? Was this something God would approve of? So many questions Pre Op. I decided to tell everybody and be open about it the support I have got from Friends and Family and my church has been awesome. I am not worried about people questioning why I did it I am just happy I did it and I'm a better person for it.

I so agree with that!

My confession. I fell of the wagon
Gregory Donlin replied to O.T.R. sleever's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm new to this forum I am 6 months Post Op there are things I struggle with but it's great to have a support system when you fall. OTR it's great that you have so many great people to depend on when you need help. Thanks for sharing your story of struggle and I pray that you have the strength to overcome all obstacles in the future. -
These seems like questions that might best be answered by your surgeon. I know my doctor told me the size of my stomach cand be compared to the size of a Banana. I'm sure once you start shedding the weight you will notice a significant improvement in your joints. Good Luck with your upcoming surgery.

I had surgery on Dec 19 and to date I have lost 100 lbs. I would love to be Sleeve Buddies and guide each other to success. -
You can only gain what you would of been If you were skinny. If you at your Ideal weight were only 6 inches that's your Max. I wish this surgery had some magic MiracLe Grow Effect but it doesn't. At least now I can see it and it appears bigger and I now have the ability to do things position wise I wouldn't of been able to before.

Any Gummy multi-Vitamins that work?
Gregory Donlin replied to punzel426's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Yeah I will have to check that out because to be honest BA is on the pricey side but they make good products. I bought a bag from BA Lemon Flavor it's yummy but they only make Lemon in 250mg. Thanks for the Info -
I got a prescription from my doctor for syringes and B12! But when I went for a check up my B12 was on the Low side so I started using B12 sublingual it's not very expensive I spent like 30 Dollars for 180 wafers.

Any Gummy multi-Vitamins that work?
Gregory Donlin replied to punzel426's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
My Doctor told me that the Chewables are not sufficient enough. I use the Bariatric Advantage chewable French Vanila Flavored which seems pretty tolerable. For the Calcium I use Bariatric Advantage calcium chewable Caramels it tastes like the werthers originals they have it in 500 mg so you need 4 a day. -

Do I really have to do two weeks pre op?
Gregory Donlin replied to Decembersleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gail, I don't know of any places that have a weight loss requirement! However If during your weight management if you gain weight during that time your insurance can deny your surgery. My Surgeon will not do surgery on anybody over 500 lbs risk is to high you must get below 500 to have surgery. And the whole reason for the preop diet some are liquid some are low calorie. Is to reduce the size of your liver. Sometimes your Liver can be to large to do the surgery. -
