Super Saturday Weigh In
Chellemetime replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I only lost 1/2 of a pound this week but I'm ok with that because I know why. I wanted to see what would happen if I added some carbs. Well, I know now that I can do that once I start maintenance. Now, back to being a good girl. -

HERE IT GOES...
Chellemetime replied to mysleevemylife's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My Dr. Told me not to listen to anyone but him about all of the myths there are when it comes to the sleeve. He said there's nothing wrong with using a straw or taking pills. I have been taking regular pills since 1 week post op and drinking from a straw since then too. I'm 4 1/2 months out and have no problems with it. He also said I don't have to stop drinking 30 minutes before I eat, just to remember that if I drink too soon after I eat, I will get hungry again quicker. I also don't drink any protein shakes. I get my protein from food per his advice. I do take really good vitamins and one of them is chewable (only because they only make it for bypass & sleeve people in the chewable form). -

Oh, yea! I was not in a good mood until I could finally have solids. Who would be? You can't eat anything but you can sure still smell it! The only thing I can say is hang in there. Once your able to start eating solid foods it does get better and better. I'm 4 1/2 months out and the sleeve was the best thing I've ever done for myself. Just hang it there!

Chellemetime replied to sk14712012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on Dec 5th. I've lost 52.5 pounds. I am averaging about a pound & 1/2 a week recently but at this point a loss is a loss. I've had to buy new clothes several time and am 24 pounds from my goal. I'm loving it! -

You really need B-12 shots. I was taking the sublingual and they're not NEARLY as potent. Ask you dr and he'll probably let you have the shots. I wake up easier and never yawn during the day now that I'm taking them.

Are you getting B-12 shots? Ask your dr about getting them. That made all the difference for me as far as energy goes. I'm 4 months out now and get them every 2 weeks.

Mine also took about 1 1/2 hours. And I will tell you that I was up and walking the halls of the hospital 4 hours after surgery. They came in every 3 hours and walked me. I went home at 10:00 the next morning and every day for the next week my husband and I went somewhere (a shopping mall, the strand at Galveston Beach or just shopping) and I walked for a solid 2 hours each day. I never had problems with gas and have had a very easy road even considering that I lost my Mom 3 weeks after surgery.

This is something I made last night for dinner. My husband and daughter loved it and my son came over and ate 2 helpings. For those not on a "diet", they could eat it with some tortilla chips and it would be good too. I'm not big on measuring so I'm just going to give you the ingredients because it's simple and easy to make. Mexican chicken Casserole Non Stick Spray (I used Olive Oil Pam) Chicken Breast Cut into cubes Chopped Onion Chopped Bellpepper Mushrooms Comino Cilantro Chives (Optional) Mild Red Enchilada Sauce Non-Fat Plain Greek Yogurt 2% Mexican Blend or Monterey Jack cheese Spray pan with Non-stick spray. Over medium high heat, saute the chicken breast, onion, bellpepper, mushrooms, comino, cilantro and chives together until the chicken is done and the vegetables are soft. Add enchilada sauce and Greek yogurt to make a creamy sauce. It should be light red in color but not pink unless you like it really light. Cover and allow it all to simmer for about 5 minutes on medium low heat. Top with cheese, remove from heat and cover to allow cheese to melt. Serve with more greek yogurt as a substitute for sour cream. Let me know what yall think. I crave Mexican food and this really filled the void for me.

I'm only 8 weeks out and I heard it has too much fat. Maybe I'm wrong. OMG, if I can have avacado in general, that would be awesome!
-
Oh, God! I LOVE guacamole. Now that IS one thing I miss.

OMG! Hi! I was sleeved on 12/5/12 too! You're doing fine on your weight loss. I've had the same problem where it's slowed down quite a bit but it's probably better for us because if you lose it too fast you have more loose skin and it's easier to gain back. I've lost 33 pounds so we are right together! Are you able to eat regular foods yet? If so, I'd like to give you some ideas. If you don't like water, have you tried putting a little bit of lemon juice in it? That helped me.

Yes, I am able to drink any way I want. My doctor even allows me to use a straw and it doesn't cause excess gas or anything.

Constant empty nauseous feeling like I'm hungry
Chellemetime posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 6 weeks out and I have a constant empty feeling in my stomach that makes me nauseous. It feels like I'm hungry but I know we're not supposed to feel hunger after the sleeve. My doctor thought it was heartburn or indigestion but I already take Prevacid daily so he told me to take some tums. I did that and it didn't take the feeling away. Does anyone else have this or does anyone know what this could be? -
