  1. Hey everyone !!! First of my name is Liz and on dec27 I will be sleeved. My emotions are all over the place in regards to the sleeve. I can tell you that it is hard to find people my age that are having this surgery. Let me tell you a little about my decision. I was 22 when I began this process of surgery. The reason why I wanted it done was because of my family. The majority of my extended family (dad's side) suffers from some type of co morbidity such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart problems. I wanted to break the cycle not only for myself , but to those around me. At 24, I'm starting to see the effects of being overweight can do to people. Even though I am generally healthy, problems such as sciattica, arthritis, and pre diabeties have started to hit. I know all to well what being overweight can do to a person and decided now more than ever that I wanted a life that didn't include me hiding in the shaddows because of weight. I think it was last year when I went shopping with my friends and felt so embarressed by the fact I couldn't shop in the stores they were in. Most of the cute "plus size" clothing such as American Eagle or Forever 21 you have to get online. I was tired of sitting on the sidelines. No one really understands what it is like to feel 40 when your only 24. My reasons for surgery are not totally vain, but rather a fresh start on becoming an improved version of my self.

    Drain Question

If the nurse says its normal then your fine. Had a drain put in and it sucked, but best believe everything is in place where it needs to be.
  3. Hey everyone!!! I'm wondering if anyone on here has had problems with certain foods. I'm 5 weeks out and have trouble eating things like lettuce, onions, and anything green. However during the Super Bowl I was able to eat things like pigs in a blanket, a chicken wing, chocolate covered strawberries, a pastello (it's like an empanada ), and a bunch of devil eggs. So my questions is what's up with the green food v.s the carbs the body can take/not take? I honestly thought I'd get sick and was eating very slowly, but it took.
  4. I wish I could only eat those foods. Looking back, it took me about an 1 1/2 to eat that plate. Most of the time I had to go very slowly and eat little by little.
  5. Thanks. It is a blessing and a curse i suppose being able to tolerate those foods so early on. To be honest thought the difference between pre and post sleeve is that I don't "crave" it. I only eat foods like that if they're readily available to me like yesterday. Not only that , I ate so much less than what I would have pre sleeve. It's back to protein protein and more protein today!!!!

    Fat Days...

Enjoying my "fat" day today, just can't really as much as my old "fat" days.

    Ectasy And Cocain Lol

I admitted this to my nutritionist that I smoked after surgery while I was on the purée staged. Ended up eating puréed lasagna and had heartburn for days. Honestly after 5 weeks post op most of my "cravings" are head hunger / "old habits". I think if I smoke weed again it might give the munchies, but can't eat as much.
  8. I think what your feeling is normal. Someone who has had the sleeve for only a month and had struggled with anxiety/depression for years the feelings after a major change to your body is acceptable. It is a huge change and something you never did before so why wouldn't you be anxious. I doubt your going to start talking to yourself because what I think your referring to is schizo type behaviors and have to do with the amount of dopamine in your brain and not your stomach being removed. But as the other guy said all your horror - mones are all jacked up because of the surgery so it's normal.

    Back to school!

I'm so glad someone posted about this because I was worried about what I was gonna do about school and meals in a couple weeks.

    Admitted to the hospital

    Feel better soon!!!!
  11. I didn't realize how big of a role food played in my life. Honestly I thought I'd feel better when it came to the puréed stage because I could have my meals that I loved only puréed. Well I was wrong. I've been taking this stage so for granted because here i am not really taking it seriously and it's bitten me in the ass. I feel horrible because I've been feeding myself crap my body isn't ready for and it's definitely telling me I'm not ready. Anybody feel this frustrated with puréed stage???
  12. I've been keeping active and the liquids have helped.
  13. Felt exactly the same way around the 3rd or 4th day. It's the WTF did I do to my body mode. It will get better and soon you will be like what surgery???
  14. I am 5"5' 1/2 and my original goal was 170 but I'm changing it to 160. The reason I choose 160 was I never looked "right" as a skinny chick. I love my curves, having boobs and an ass. I think it would make me unhappier being too skinny than being thick. I love being right in the middle. I am squeezing into a size 18 pre op and post op I'm almost nicely fitting into a size 18/3x/2x with almost 20lbs lost 2 weeks post op. i'll be happy with a size 11 and wearing large shirts. My main goal is to be healthy and out of way for diabetes high blood pressure and all those not so nice co morbidities. Looking good to me is just a nice little perk I'm going to enjoy !!!!
  15. So I've been so excited to move on puréed foods but having trouble keeping anything down. First off I know that the stuff I've been eating wasn't 100% all that healthy, but I was trying to introduce familiar foods into my diet. There were two instances where I couldn't keep what I ate down. Is there anyone out there who had this problem. I thought the stuff I was eating was too greasy. I know I don't have a leak because there is no fever. I've tried eggs with cheese and ham. Didn't go well and Mac and cheese w/ sausage. Is there anyone who struggled with purée? What can I try without having to keep eating full liquids because I'm tired of soup.

    Pureed food stall

I have baby food as a back up but I've been really trying to eat more "adult" foods than just baby foods. Thanks for the suggestions.

    My gsv surgery

Glad your feeling better... Hope to hear a NSV from you soon.
  19. Hey everyone!!!! My name is Liz and I'm 7 days post op. Today was weird because i went out to eat for the first time since surgery and felt like I was in a new world. Still on full liquids so not many options out there. Went to a place called Zoup and had trouble because a lot of the soups they have still have solids in them. Could only stomach an 8oz cup (which is pushing it) . I remember the days when I had a bowl of soup, sandwich, bread, and a brownie along with a soda. OMG how it all has changed. Anyone out there with a similar experience???

21 and wanting a new me

    So worth it!!!
  21. Day one was the worst because I just felt all sorts of out of it. I'd never had major surgery before this so seeing the drain and the anesthesia was overwhelming. I was in pain but not in my belly in my back from laying on that table. The drain didn't hurt, just looked weird. I almost threw up but there was nothing to throw up. Had a pain med and some zofran which made the world of difference. A few hrs after I was walking and by day three/ four it felt like I never had surgery. Now on day 7 post op and I feel like I did before surgery but just don't eat like it. Tummy gets upset when I try too much. Hope you feel better, it is all really worth it.
  22. I'm a week post op and that's what I average. I think it's more about getting the protein than the calories.
  23. It was hard watching others eat and I'm slowly sipping on my soup. It wouldn't be so hard when on soft foods.
  24. Try not to be so worried about getting dehydrated. As long as you sip your water and are getting a little something down, then you'll be fine. Popsicles and Italian ice work magic during this time period. Trust me I'm not far behind you girl in the post of phase. Enjoy the time off and relax!!!
