I was sleeved on Dec 26

Was sleeved on dec 27. The first two days I spent in the hospital because they have better pain meds. After I left, there was pain but not as much. Zofran works really well for nausea. While I was in the hospital I asked for a gas-x and the nurse told me not to take it and just let the gas out naturally because gas-ex just suppresses it and doesn't get it out like it should. What helped me a lot was walking every few hours and get the gas out. I hope you feel better. Everyone's experience is different . It will get better, just remember why you got it done. This part is only temporary.
  4. Hey everyone my name is Liz and I'm from Northeastern (reading) pa. Was wondering if there are any other Northeasters out there ( Nj, De,Md)... Feel feel free to message me or reply.
  5. Hey guys I'm 4 days post op and struggling on how to get enough protein in my diet. I have a sf carnation instant breakfast for breakfast. Soup for lunch and rarely have dinner. I try to sneak another shake inbetween meals, but don't really like drinking them. I'm on the liquids right now and only have two more days until I move into "baby food/ puréed " diet. I add unflavored protein to my shakes but still don't feel I'm getting enough.
  6. Girl I completely understand as I am 4 days post op too. Bloated tired, can't drink on New Years, and just ugh. But the truth is even if we wanted our old tummy back , we can't. I feel like that this is only a temporary set back and once we make it through this hurtle, we're gonna laugh. No matter how much preparing you do it's not gonna sink until you do it. Hope you feel better girl and feel free to message me if you need to talk.

your last meal before pre op ?!

I had like 10 last meals, but the best was the Christmas dinner (rice, chicken, potato salad, lasagna, pork, and turkey.) red lobster platter, and tres leche cake. 4 days post op and just missing solid food at this point.

All Alone On My Big Day

Sometimes we have to do things alone and in the end our families who didn't stand by us are the ones who are going to have the biggest regrets. You are so strong to continuing this journey and this is one small step. Ask your hospital if they have a support group. I know the one I went to has this program called visiting angels where other wls patients mentor others. It sucks when we don't have our families backs, but it's their loss not ours. I hope that you have a speedy recovery and everything goes well.
  9. I'm 4 days post op and having the same problems.

    Denied, fighting depression.

From someone who did the pre op classes -twice because I was denied the first time due to another health issue, doing those classes help you be successful for the long term. Everyone is different, but I think it would take you that long to get everything straightened out in Mexico w/o having to travel that far. It is your choice, but I just feel you should explore all your options first rather than just throwing in the towel.

Having just got out of surgery I can tell you that the pain you feel is very minimal. It is gonna hurt, but that's what the pain meds are for. I can tell you that yes I hurt only two days post op, but it's like a bad bellyache. I thought the flu was worse.

Congrats. Was also sleeved this past Thursday.
  13. I wish mine was outpatient. I'd rather go home than stay in the hospital.

Getting sleeved January 9th and feeling blue

Girl, I can totally relate to what you are going through. I made those same judgements about myself. My surgery is two weeks away and even though I am calm about it now, I feel as if I'm going to breakdown right before. Then I realized that forgiving yourself is the only way to move on with this process. Even to this day I think about I dont need to do this and blah blah blah, I am doing this because I want something better for myself. You are thinking the sameway or you wouldn't be going through this. This is not something we "did" to ourselves, it happened and being the strong woman are taking it on head strong by having this surgery. If you wern't strong, you'd be in denial and not having the surgery. In the end you have to do what makes YOU happy and health despite what are parents think.
  17. There are different things that spark a person's interest in having weight loss surgery. I can honestly say there were different instances that began my journey, but I can't exactly remember which one. What I can remember is finally saying to myself that I I need to do something about this weight I'm carrying around. I was initially interested in the lap band and began that process around 2010. I did everything I was supposed to until a meeting with the psych doc pushed everything back. It wasn't because I was crazy, it had to do with the fact I was on medication for anxiety and she felt I was a risk. I decided after going through all the appointments, that I would lose the weight on my own. I didn't need surgery. Well then life and reality set in when I wasn't losing the weight and things took a turn for the worse. I started having weight related sciatica , arthritis, and I was pre diabetic all at age 23. So in April of 2012 I restarted my journey despite the set backs and in Nov 12 I was ready to take the leap. During this time I had been told about the sleeve instead of the lap band. I wasn't hesitant, but after researching it I decided that this was the surgery for me. In 15 days I will be a sleeved. I am ready for this. I am not nervous. I am excited for this next step, but not overly excited. I judged myself before for wanting to do this, but I have made my peace with it and believe that this is the best thing I could do for myself. What I hope to get out if this surgery is to reinvent my body. I'm starting from scratch and ready to begin the next phase of my journey.
