I am having surgeryin PA Janurary 09,2013 and would like to make friends that are also having January surgeries . -
I'm busy nesting and cleaning getting ready for the 9th. You all will be in my prayers. So exciting!

Less calories mean your body doesn't have enough fuel to keep you warm and your losing insulation and your not used to it. This should resolve somewhat when you can eat 1200-1500 calories a day but losing fat is an adjustment you have to get used to. Remember when all the "skinny" people were cold and we weren't? Ha!

I got the bariatric choice catalog. They sent me free samples when I asked their chicken bouillon is really filling and has 15 g of protein. Choc dream pudding was great. They have drinks like pink lemonade and many others with 15g of protein per drink. They have high protein pancakes , chocolates, bars, cappacinos and hot chocolate and much more. I plan to use them in the first stages of clear, full liquids, and soft only because they are pricey. Seven packs is 11.50 approx but if we eat little servings each pack will be 3-4 meals. Call 800-993-1143 for samples or catalog. I'm picky but this stuff is pretty good. They sale the vitamins that dissolve too. Their protein drink can be made with half the water into pudding with lots of flavors even cheesecake. Mention a friend and you'll both get 10$ off plus right now there are holiday coupons on catalog. Good luck

You won't be eating much good much less foods with Vitamin B12 in it so it is imperative you take supplements daily after surgery or get a shot once a mo . It is really important you will feel much better have more energy. I've ordered vitamin b tabs that dissolve under tongue, cherry Flavor so I don't have to swallow it and choc chewable calcium citrate and chewable vitamins. I am afraid swallowing pills will be hard for awhile and I already have 6 prescription pills a day!

Mine is Jan 9th I'm counting the days. I started at 289 lbs and with per op diet I am 274 today hoping to be 270 by 9th that is almost 20 down before surgery. It wasn't easy but so worth it! I haven't been below 200 in over 30 years. I can't even dream about it because I can't remember it!! It is going to be awesome and weird. I'm concentrating on walking afterwards and not picking anything up for a long while. I think we should baby ourselves as long as we can to protect ourselves from leaks.
-
My Dr never had me get ready with vitamins, B 12, or calcium citrate he said ill start that after surgery. It should not be a deciding factor for surgery but make sure you follow it afterwards or your health will diminish. I'm excited for you. Don't worry!!

How funny!! My surgery is the 9th and I'm on my fifth day pre-op diet and I'm nesting too!! It is like getting ready to have a baby, my food baby, ha! I have small dishes little silverware, special foods etc. I think I'm over thinking things! Anyway I keeps me busy I'm counting down the days!!

My surgery is jan 9 I have to diet on 1000 calories a day until surgery. I have two low cal frozen meals approx 300 calories each two cups of low cal veggies and one protein drink or two and sugar free hot cocoa and sugar free jello or fit and lite vanilla Greek yogurt oh and caffeine free hot tea with skim milk and equal It is not bad at all I tried the bariatric pudding with 100 calories and 15 protein too it was pretty good. I failed on my diet on Dec 26 but have been doing good since. It is a state of mind I have concluded. I can be stubborn so I'm using that on myself! Ha!

That was C-pap not clap!!

I keep hearing everyone is so scared of the surgery but although I feel a little scared at times I believe I am more afraid of dying from a obesity related illness. I can tell you that if you don't control your weight you will get where I am where I cannot walk further than a few steps without being out of breath and I have obesity related asthma that put me in the hospital this year where I was struggling to breath and the drs said they had done all they could , that's scary, and my electric was off for eight days during hurricane sandy and I had to get a generator to run my clap because I could NOT sleep or breath, that is scary, oh and I am off balance so I fall easily now. I am 280 and 5 foot 4. Last but not least I have a serious vitamin D deficiency due to obesity that inhibits my absorption of calcium. I now have serious arthritis issues. That is scary!!! So stop worrying so much. You will probably be fine and it will change our lives in a way we cannot even imagine. Hang in there. Get excited look through clothes mags and dream big! We can do this!! Only 10 days for me left!! I can't wait!
