six days out with terrible pain in left middle back when I lay down
fonally replied to fonally's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I talked to my Dr she also said WALK WALK WALK in fact a city block every couple hours. I walked but not that much. She said it is trapped air and can take days before it is gone. She said I had more air due to the biopsy but I'll be fine to keep taking the 4mg dilated and a extra strength Tylenol when I go to bed and WALK WALK WALK!! so I have been walking a lot today and I feel better knowing it is normal for some people. She said I can use a heat pack to feel better but it doesn't help the gas get out just feels good. Thanks for all your advise!! -

thanks my incision area under right breast hurts but has since surgery.I also had a liver biopsy while the Dr was in there (looked great he said) so I have seven incision places but the shoulder pain has become lower and more painful and I'm a little nausea but I took four dilated in the last twelve hrs ( it was prescribed that way two every four hrs if needed ) anyway I feel awful and didn't the last couple of days. I called the Nurse at my DRs office but no return call yet. -
maybe there is more room for the bladder to expand due to removing the stomach area and there isn't all that fat to push against it?

When I drop my weight, I'm going to try (insert answer)!
fonally replied to PetraLuxor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I want to go out and see people again.Missed my reunion too. I want to start race walking again and do a marathon. I want to want to have sex! I want to wear my heels again and swim. I want to do things with my grand babies that I never could. I just got off 18 mo of chemo two years ago and my granddaughters other grandma was on chemo at the same time. I remember my granddaughter age 6 telling someone " both my grandmas are sick and can't do anything" that broke my heart. She although age 6 has supported me emotionally through everything drawing me pictures to put next to my bed saying " grandma this picture will really make you feel better" I will be so happy to be a real grandma to her. She can't remember when I wasn't sick and overweight. I want to do everything with her! -
Has anyone used or heard of Bypass restaurant cards from your DR ?
fonally posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Evidently you can get a card to take to restaurants and buffets where you either get a discounted charge for a smaller portion or are able to buy children's meals at children's prices?? -

I think it is awesome. I spend a lot of time in Vegas and $40.00 for a buffet is too much if I could pay child price it would be great. Also Cracker barrel said they honor it. I'm excited! -
thanks that is interesting.

Congratulations!!! It is such an important milestone in my opinion. You did it!! I was just sleeved Jan -9-13 just a few days out but that too is something I can't wait for.I am anxious to see how fast or slow I lose. This is so exciting for you! Feel proud. -
I'm in Berks county. I was sleeved Jan 9th. I am doing great. I'm getting all my protein and fluids in using bariatric broths (15 protein for 8 oz) and bariatric drinks like pink lemonade ( 15 protein) etc. I only have to get in four products a day. I like water, very slowly sipping an oz at a time, and sugar free Popsicles. YUM. I'm sore but getting better by the day.I'm taking extra strength Tylenol for pain. Today I took a carnation instant breakfast package sugar free and added one Tablespoon powdered peanut butter called PB2 and a little ice. It tasted delicious but the froth or foam bothered by stomach SO no more blender right now! other than that I'm hungry for food with consistency but I've done a lot of reading and it seems that our stomachs staples and due to swelling we should stay on full liquids so we don't put undo pressure on the staples. Believe me I want cream of wheat and mashed potatoes but my DR says not for two weeks and although everyone seems to have different Drs with their own view the majority of materials from the web say the same as my DR so I will Just Do It! I am so afraid of a leak and months in the hospital and some texts say it can be deadly to eat semi solids now so I will suck it up. Very soon in a few months we can eat all kinds of glorious foods!! Good luck out there.

I am not expecting much problems with relationships because if someone loves you and has your best at heart they will be supportive. As far as a significant other I talked it all out with my boyfriend of 8 years and I don't believe things will change that much. First off not much is going to change except the size of my body and what I can do and what I will eat. I have no expectations that life will be better or people will treat me so differently. I just think I'll be doing the same things I did before surgery but I'll be out of pain and healthier. I'll still be watching the same TV shows and living the same life. My boyfriend is not jealous and has his own stuff. If things are so different and change then I will just change along with it. I am an optimist and believe in myself and the fact that with patience and love it can all be fine. If not I'll deal with it then. I am set in my ways at 52 and it may be different if your young and want to get out and do things you haven't been able to. Just talk to the people close to you and follow your heart. Even if we make mistakes it is human. This is a growth project. Respect yourself and give yourself a break. For a lot of people this may be the first time they put themselves first and if people give you problems with that tell them I come first and if they can't handle it then move on.

Hello! I was sleeved the 9th and came home yesterday and yes it feels so good to begone. My pain is now controlled by extra strength Tylenol. Here is some stuff that may help you guys who have not gone in yet. Things do taste different after surgery to me. Water tastes good to me but Atkins advantage shakes I loved before surgery are awful tasting now. Carnation instant breakfast is good now. I bought beef bouillon soup mix from Drs best weight loss and it is delicious very beefy and salty and really good. I bought cappuccinos from them also but all the beverages taste very strong I have to water them down. When people said they can't get their liquids in I thought it was just swallowing enough but I have had NO hunger since surgery so even cappuccino and jello eat isn't easy to get down because I'm not hungry. It's like having no want for any more. I'm still coughing up heavy green junk from my chest. You have to move around soon after surgery and blow into a tube 5 times an hour to keep your lungs able to fill up and keep pneumonia out. I was shocked how much junk I had in my chest after surgery. I slept in a recliner too because of the air trapped in my shoulder it doesn't hurt when I'm in a sitting up position. Anyway it is just a little info that may help someone.

Where Is Everyone From?

Well as soon as they took me off morphing the nausea stopped and I started getting better quickly. Now I'm doing great. I was sleeved on 9 th and leaving hospital today. I can drink 6 oz of water every thirty minutes at this time. Don't hesitate asking for a different pain killer if your nausea. They gave me dilauted (?) and all the sudden everything was 100% better. My Zdr said no gas x strips after surgery if doesn't help trapped air in body so you don't need that. The worse I felt the more walking helped my symptoms especially shoulder blade air pain. I'm so happy this part is over and I'm on the losers bench. I am so excited to see the lbs fall off!

Well I'm sleeved! I spent yesterday exhausted from not sleeping the night before and morphine. It isn't too bad but I've had bad nausea and that is difficult. There is pressure on your chest/ stomach but little pain. Gas pains for me aren't too bad. Overall it went great! I can't believe ithe wait is over! Well I'm going back to sleep!

Congrats and thank you for your threads. I am in waiting room going to surgery any minute! Your posts help me!

On my way to the hospital. I couldn't sleep all night. I know this is the right decision but it is a little scary. I took my before pics and of one with my c-pap on ( real sexy!) there are so many reasons to do this that I am positive it is worth the risks no matter the outcome. It is my chance to put me first . I just turned 52 if your younger this surgery is such an opportunity for a better life for me it is for the rest of my life. We add the lucky ones who made it through all the months prior. See you later!!

Good luck! We will be losers tomorrow! I hope you can sleep I'm wide awake!

Making a List for my Sleeve day
fonally replied to Fair2bslimLady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tomorrow is my surgery! I can't sleep so I thought I'd check in. I ordered hot chocolate and cappuccinos no caffeine with high protein from bariatrics choice and broth and cream soup high protein . Everyone says bring Chapstick and gas x strips so I have those. Sugar free Popsicles are how I got through the pre diet and I have that and SC jello. I think I'm good. Oh and protein clear liquids from Doctors choice. Bariatric foods co and others sell same packs so I ordered them. Now if only I could sleep ! -
I'm laying here in bed trying to sleep but too anxious to sleep .I have to be up in 5 hours to head for the hospital. I have a two hour drive to the hospital and check in at 7:30! I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I stopped eating at 8 with a little water until 10. I can't wait to be on the other side of this surgery. Good luck to everyone else going in today And in the next couple days to come!!!
