Husbands (spouses/partners) responses to surgery?
fonally replied to DreamsOfSkinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My boyfriend of 8 years after surgery told me what he likes best about this surgery is the ten or more years he will be with me longer. Tell your husband/fiancé that. We can live longer happier and healthier lives. -

Also prices vary greatly from $10.99 to $12.99 for basically the same thing. -
I had to come back to the pre-op and let you all know who have not had the surgery yet that my experience has been amazing. I get all my Protein and Water in but it takes all day. I have seen a transformation everyday . I wake up and I don't just feel lighter I am, Four and a half pounds last night alone. Yes this is a serious surgery and Yes relearning to eat such same amounts is difficult and Yes it is extreme and finally YES it is a lifetime change you have to be committed to but changing day by day so quickly is a transformation and for me has been so worth it. I just wanted to tell you all that. Also I haven't felt hunger once and food doesn't have a hold of me like it use to. I don't think about it and food commercials and people eating around me doesn't bother me. It is a real miracle.

I always throw up after surgery but I didn't this time. I was put on dilauted (sp?) for pain after morphine. I have found lots of online foods for bariatric foods. I bought from Doctors Choice weight loss and Bariatric food source and Bariatrics Choice. All have good stuff a lot of it is the same in different boxes! My favorite soups are by Bariwise and all the cocoa is similar. I went to each site and bought the minimum order and asked Bariatric Choice for a new person discount which was 10$ off AND with every order from anywhere I asked for three free samples and they gave them to me. I found in different websites but mostly Doctors choice that they have excellent sample packs of drinks, hot cocoa , soups, puddings etc. That is what I recommend because I love some stuff and HATE others and some just don't go down right.Your taste buds are different too at least mine are. I loved ATkins shakes now they taste like chemicals and sugar free stuff tastes like real sugar...weird huh? Anyway sampling is the way to go. -

Well surgery went great I was awake I told the people in the OR I was scared and they said that was normal then I went under when I woke up I felt no pain and I slept. You don't eat or drink for one to two days just IV liquids. Anyway it feels like a sore stomach like you had a kick to the stomach but not terribly painful and your on Meds just really sore. Iwas really nausea and I took pain pills and slept the whole first day but I did get up and walk a few feet. It turned out I was having a side effect of morphine so they changed my. pain killer and the nausea went away and I felt good. The second day I walked around all over the place and then I went home the next morning. It wasn't as bad as I imagined . I laid there in recovery and thought OH MY GOD I DID IT!! all my fears were gone I had made sure before surgery it was a wise decision for me so I just smiled!! I DID IT!! My boyfriend said to me" let the transformation begin" and that is what happened. Now you do have to go gingerly. I still haven't found that full feeling yet I eat or drink too much and feel full to my throat so I'm re-learning how to eat and drink small. expect a lot of time and energy spent learning how your sleeve acts, wants, and feels but I am so happy I did this! Also if I didn't have bariatric hot chocolate and Soups like beef and chicken bouillon and cream of chicken Soup this would have been much more difficult. I have a large variety of foods I bought, shakes, puddings, soups, Hot drinks etc each one has 15 Protein and is one quarter of my daily protein. -
I just cant do the protien shakes! Help!
fonally replied to FAWife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I could never get my Protein in without Bariatric cream of chicken Soup and bariatric hot chocolate. Each has 15 protein and goes down easily. The Protein drinks have been difficult for me too. I also eat Greek yogurt. I was sleeved Jan 9th. IM waiting patiently for the next stage where I will be cream of wheat and eggs. -
http://blog.wellesse.com/blog/-not-set--2/what-is-protein-and-what-types-of-protein-are-best This article and many more say collagen can be more bioavailable? If there are more than two schools of thought about collagen then I am going to try to investigate the claim that it isn't as available. Where did you get your info from? I want a more scientific break down before I can decide if I should use it because it is less expensive and in some products I like for example Bariatric Hot drinks, Soups, etc. Thanks for bring this to our attention I would have never known to research it!

I was getting all my protein in until yesterday
fonally posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on the 9th of January and I know you all can help answer my question. Why was I getting in all my Protein and now for two days I can't eat some foods without feeling like it is stuck in my throat or full up my throat after a couple little sips. Are there certain foods that my sleeve may not like? is this normal. What if I get in all my fluids but can't get in all my protein for two weeks will it go away when ai get to purred foods? The foods I have trouble with are bariatric smoothies and some Protein drinks. Bariatric hot chocolate and Soup goes down no problem.I'm confused. -

I can eat a whole Greek yogurt about a cup in a half hour sitting. -
ok I am kinda rushing it I think. I feel like I run out of time each day getting fluids in because of the half needing to be Water. I stay up late to get it all in!! Thanks
-
I could not make it the two weeks of full liquids without bariatric foods. I have a hot choc in morning (15 pro) Soup for lunch ( cream type (15 pep) and a drink like Lemmon razzy or lemonade (15 pro) and then I only have to have one shake or pudding a day. it is only for two weeks so it is worth ordering the food. the cream of chicken and beef bouillon both 15 pro made with less Water will be gravy on my potatoes next stage and poured over meat as gravy later on.

fonally replied to UndercoverBariatricGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please insist on one.You are the person who has to be in charge and you have symptoms of a serious problem. Better safe than sorry. -
Losing two pounds a week is the healthiest most natural pace there is for a human body. Remember the slower it comes off the easier it is to maintain. My WII yelled at me today for losing too fast!! Lol

I'm happy for you.

They Re caltrate squares. I bought mine on line but I believe you can get them at vitamin stores and grocery stores. There is chocolate, lemon, raspberry and my favorite .chocolate fudge. About 12.99 a bag. -
give yourself a break. Be kind to yourself. I am only a week out after getting my sleeve and my hunger is very little.I feel completely in control of my eating for the first time and I had a hard time on my pre diet. You can do this.Forgive yourself and start again. I would have never made it without boxes of sugar free Popsicles.

I am six days from purred food thank goodness.I want real food just cottage cheese or mashed potatoes How long for others do you have to wait to go from pursed to soft foods? When can others have chicken?? just asking.... -
I just tried PB powdered to my shake and the first couple times it was ok but today it gave me a lump in my throat! This is what full feels like!! Personally I like the Popsicles because of them I have not been constipated!! something to think about!!

I was sleeved Jan 9 and this was my problem so this is the key walk about one city block three times a day. My DR said this is what they mean by walk. I suffered for DAYS because I was walking enough now that I walk it is almost gone. My DR said gas x is only for gas in your stomach and won't help air caught in body cavity. Moving helps it dissipate. Hope that helps.
