  1. 1st, I think you're fabulous and have done an AMAZING job at rocking that sleeve! Thanks for sharing the list with us. I have to add one more: I'm not as fat as I think I still am. I don't HAVE to shop in the plus sizes anymore! So stop going there first!!! LOL

    Gym Rat? Who Me?

Good for you! Great work! My surgeon didn't tell me a certain calorie amount, but the NUT gave me something that said once I was able to eat anything that I could/should go for 1200 per day. I have been going between 1000-1200, and the weight is still coming off. So, I am so there with you!!!!

First Bathing Suit in 9 years

You look so cute! I just bought my 1st bathing suit in well OVER ten years!!!
  4. Well, if you go by my excess weight according to BMI charts, I needed to lose 153 lbs. According to my doctor, he will be happy with 142 lbs lost. I am going for my doc's recommendation and seeing how I feel then, maybe lose more if I feel like it.

    concerned

I guess my next question would be if TOM has been regular other than now since surgery? If I were you I would take a pregnancy test to put your mind at ease. Then at least you wouldn't be agonizing...

    Conflicting Stories from Doctors

I think people who regain a lot of weight back after the sleeve are mistaking eating the wrong things for "stretching" of the sleeve. I am able to eat a lot more at almost 5 months out than at 1 month. As my sleeve has healed, the swelling has gone down, and I can fit more in there. I also know that when I eat dense protein, I feel much more restriction than if I eat, say, tortilla chips or crackers. As we are able to tolerate more and more things, some people might become complacent and forget how to "work the sleeve". It is, and will be WORK for the rest of our lives, not just the first year out from surgery. Even doctors can be misinformed and ignorant about VSG.
  7. Interesting. Avocadoes are a superfood. I also wonder how much it has to do with just bumping up calories a bit using avocado...I bumped my calories up to 1200/day and I broke a stall- over 4 lbs in a week lost.

    The scale friend or?

I try to weigh just once a week, on Sunday. Then I put the scale away in the closet so it's not so easily accessible. If it gets left out on the bathroom floor, I just have to jump on it. I just hate being a slave to it or having my attitude for the day dictated by the number.
  10. Broke a stall and broke the 100 lb mark today! Thanks to everyone here for the fantastic advice and support! Couldn't have done it without you!!

    "No go" foods

I have not had a lot of trouble with any particular food, but I have gagged and dry heaved after eating too fast. There are a couple things I don't like now that I loved pre-surgery- swiss cheese and bread. Don't know why.
  14. I did, but it was because I had gall stones that were revealed during my pre-op abdominal ultrasound. I didn't realize I had them, but I had been having upper back pain occasionally for awhile and didn't realize that's what it was. SO glad I had it out. One less thing, Good luck with your surgery.

    I have something to say!

That is pretty much me- except I don't eat a lot of bread (like with sandwiches or burgers, etc.) I do eat baked chips and crackers sometimes. Really only because bread doesn't appeal, and it doesn't sit well with me- the "doughiness" of it. Anyway, I think you're fabulous, and you should do whatever works for you and helps keep you on track losing! Carbs- good carbs- are awesome!

    I wonder ?

No question the guy had to do something. Although I am a liberal, I kind of like Gov. Christie (he seems more honest than most politians) and frankly I was worried about his weight. I am thinking he picked the band as a somehwhat "political" move. It's not permanent, but it shows he's trying to do something about his weight. I agree that the liklihood is that it will fail. Maybe he will be a revision in a few years. I'm kinda looking forward to seeing how he progresses! -Kendra

    Shout out your Nsv's

Last Friday as we were riding in the car (I was in the front passenger seat, he was in the back behind hubby, who was driving), my 8 year old said to me, "Mommy, you're little!" I melted- love him! LOL

    Imagination Failure?

I haven't discussed a goal with my doctor much at all. My 1st goal is 160 (I am 5'5), which is still in the overweight category by about 11 lbs. I asked about 160 as a goal and he was fine with it- he's happy with me in the range of 155-160. I'm planning on reassessing at 160. I think you also have to consider the weight of extra skin. Me at 160 is probably more like 145-150... -Kendra

    Goals

I personally don't set goals as far as my weight in numbers. In the 4 months since the sleeve, I have realized I only have marginal control over what the scale says. I can eat really well, lower carb, under 1000 calories, and at the end of the week, little or no loss. So, sure, it's possible for you to be in the 100s, and I hope you do, that would be phenomenal! I just try to go with the flow- I set goals that are 100% attainable, like, "I'm going to the gym to work out 5 times this week" or "I'm going to make sure I drink all of my Water every day this week". Good luck! -Kendra

    frustrated.

I agree with Brandy- give it some time. It WILL go away. These "blues" you're having are totally normal. Mine were to the point that I called the therapist I was seeing pre-sleeve and made an appointment. I still see her every month. It's a huge adjustment. You're doing fine. Keep us updated!!!! -Kendra

    Jillian Michaels...

I also bought the 30 day shred. Starting that hopefully this summer when I have a more predictable schedule. Let us know how it goes!

body changes This is not me

Yes, totally- on a daily basis. It's weird to look in the mirror at someone who is pretty close to "normal". I have lost 96 lbs with 47 to go....
