    My sleeve doesn't like.....

I usually spit out the toothpaste. Just kidding- I know sometimes a little goes down. Not sure- maybe switch brands- are there any that are less strong tasting?

    Superbowl foods!

I was going to say chili (almost any kind) would be a perfect game day option, especially the Weight Watchers recipe chili- google it. It's crockpot heaven and so healthy and easy! I think it's called Weight Watchers Classic Beef Chili

    Little bummed

This is off topic, but since you say you work in the NICU I have a question that maybe you can help me with. I am set to graduate in May as an RT. I will probably begin to work 12 hr shifts- I was wondering how you get your water in while working? I had clinicals in the NICU last week (and again tomorrow), and I was freaking dehydrated. I just need some pointers- thanks! BTW, I was also stalled for over a week and just broke it (I made my hubby hide my scale & he gets it out for me once a week). Sounds like you're doing great. Keep up the good work. -Kendra

    Couscous as replacement item?

Excuse me for assuming that my NUT knows what she's talking about. I think it's fine in moderation. Don't be so rude.

    Couscous as replacement item?

My NUT actually recommended it as a side dish. I wouldn't eat it every day, but it's a sensible carb. -Kendra
  6. I see JKG (aka weird dude) is harrassing more people than just me. He has been reported and hopefully will be banned soon. Now I will take my 40 lashes with a wet noodle for the abominable sin of going off topic yet again...
  7. Wondering what your definition of a "binge" is. What exactly did you eat? I do know that you can eat a lot of "slider" foods- ice cream being one of them. Just wondering. -Kendra
  8. I found it! So I lied, he's not 5 days out, he's two weeks out. LOL!!!! I don't care if you can't eat it, what about you relly SHOULDN'T? OMG
  9. I can't remember, but I was searching for post-op videos- let me see if I can find it and I will post the link. He had his surgery OUTPATIENT (crazy) and was "reporting" from his RV that he was staying in post-op. People were commenting that it was ridiculous, and he was defending it. LOL
  10. If those things are allowed by your surgeon at this point, I would say it's fine- I just wouldn't make it a habit. Have fun on your field trip! -Kendra I have to add that there is a video on youtube of this guy who is like 5 days out from his surgery and he's eating a McD's southern fried chicken sandwich and french fries. Granted, he didn't eat much of it, but how stupid is that?

    Post-op smoking

I understand that smoking is addictive (was a smoker myself years ago), but you are flat out stupid if you take it up again post op. Serious complications can occur. Not only that, why in the hell would you have surgery to save you from obesity, but continue to smoke? Idiocy personified!

    Blood in stool anyone?

Ok, gross question, gross answer...LOL None of us can be modest at this point, right? Is the blood "mixed in" with the stool or does it look like it is "streaked" down the side? If it's just kind of streaked on the outside, it's probably just still from the earlier constipation. -Kendra

    Not a good day :(

Maybe you ate/drank too fast. I am almost 6 weeks out and have had almost no issues, but I have had 2 instances where I became nauseated and threw up- no idea why. Continue to try to get in your Protein, just make sure to take it slow. Good luck! -Kendra
  14. He sounds like the selfish one for not wanting you to have surgery that will save your life. Pardon my french, but his priorties are really f***ed up. I would seriously be questioning that relationship.
  15. Chinese food is notoriously high in sodium. It may be Water retention from that. I agree with the other person- don't weigh everyday. I had my husband hide my scale because I was addicted. LOL -Kendra

    Bread...?

I am almost 6 weeks out and I can tolerate small amounts of bread just fine. My NUT told us at 4 weeks we could start having THIN bread- wraps, tortillas, "sandwich skinnys", or bagel thins, as well as whole grain crackers. Problem is, I don't like the thin breads much, especially the low-carb ones. So I have not had much of it. What the other posters are saying is true. Not a great idea to start eating a lot of bread. Small amounts of whole grain breads and crackers are fine in my opinion if you can tolerate them. -Kendra

    Protein Stinks!

Sorry, what are you talking about? You aren't supposed to eat the protein powder right out of the container. Never heard of what you are referring to.

    1st NSV!

I had some stretchy pull on jeans that were tight a year ago, and became less so after I lost some weight pre-op- they were a size 4x. Since surgery they had become un-wearable, finally had to toss them because I noticed a hole in the butt. So I ordered some new ones in a size 2x (18-20), thinking I am probably closer to a 3x, but they are stretchy. If they are a little tight I could just deal and will shrink into them. I got them in the mail today, tried them on and they fit perfectly- NOT TIGHT! It's a lift I needed since I have been in a stall for over a week. Yay for NSVs!!!!! -Kendra

what is your favorite snack post op

I am still a few weeks out from raw fruit and veggies, so I like 4 wheat thins crackers with an ounce of pepper jack cheese. Simple and so yum yummy. -Kendra

    Scared

Yes, blood clots are a real possibility if you do not follow doctor's orders to be active every two hours while awake after surgery. Also, while you are in the hospital they will probably give you heparin shots in order to try and prevent blood clots. -Kendra

    Ranch dressing!

Can't wait to be able to have raw veggies to try this with! Only 2 more weeks! Thanks for the idea!

    Dehydration anyone?

You likely won't damage your sleeve getting liquids in. They don't stick around in there, they go right through. I also had trouble getting my fluids in- still forget sometimes and take a "gulp" and I'm quickly reminded. I can get down my 64 ounces fairly easily. Sounds like you are doing fab. I am 5 weeks 4 days out. -Kendra

    Flu vs leak symptom

I think you're way past the point of the possibility of a leak, but sounds like you are very ill. I would get into the doc ASAP if you are becoming that dehydrated. Good luck- get well soon! -Kendra

    The dreaded 3 week stall

Try upping your fluid intake. I am also fluid challenged, and when they I was at my 4 week post op a week ago, I was complaining about being in a stall. First thing she asked me is if I am getting enough water in. She said that water/fluid is an important part of eliminating fat from the body. So now I am making sure I am getting 64 oz a day. I don't know 100% it is working because I made my husband hide my scale! LOL!
