    Depressed and distressed! Help!

I had absolutely no problem with adding meat- just had my 1st steak last weekend and it went down fine. On the other hand, the only thing that has made me sick was eating too fast.

    Depressed and distressed! Help!

Maybe try cutting the Protein bars in half and eat half at a time. How about chicken salad? Poach a chicken breast, shred, and mix with a little mayonnaise. That will fill you up w/in a few bites. Also, your weight loss seems fine to me. -Kendra

    Depressed and distressed! Help!

I agree with the other posters. You are not eating the right things. Limit the Protein bars to one a day and EAT LEAN PROTEIN like chicken, lean beef, pork, etc. Did your surgeon's office not explain this? You will find you will feel much more restriction. I am a little shocked by your post, as you can tell. I eat potatoes and other carbs, but in very limited quantities. PROTEIN FIRST. -Kendra

    Variety in food after surgery

OMG, having the same thing day in day out sounds awful AND a way for the weight to come back due to deprivation. I would totally ignore that piece of advice. Variety is the spice of life, even after WLS. -Kendra

    My surgery experience

Thanks for sharing! I had a similar experience following surgery- I could not stay awake. I was in the hospital for 2 nights and slept 90% of the time. I also hated the horrible dry mouth!!! -Kendra
  7. I have been told I can drink up to my first bite of a meal, but to wait until 30 minutes afterward. I honestly don't pay much attention to this rule. It's not an issue now, but it could be, so I've got to work on that. -Kendra

    Special K Protein Shakes

The Special K shakes are a litte high in sugar. Can you make your own shakes?

    Coffee talk

I am not nor ever have been a big coffee drinker- I would have to add too many extra calories to it for me to enjoy drinking it. I do enjoy a treat of a skinny vanilla latte from Starbucks every once in awhile, though. Last one I had was decaf, but next time I don't think I will bother with that- everything in moderation... -Kendra

    Down there?

Yeah, there's no undies. You will likely have a catheter, so no.

    Fears?

You are ANYTHING but selfish. You are doing this as much for your kids as you are for yourself. I really do think that people who are against someone having this kind of life saving surgery are either uninformed or are attempting sabotage because of their own insecurities. Good luck- liklihood is that all will be fine and your kids will have you for decades to come! -Kendra
  12. Yes, there are things I ate before surgery that are WLS friendly that I may never eat again, like lunch meat. Don't know why that is. I can tolerate pretty much anything at 9 weeks out, and eating has become less of a chore and I find myself enjoying food again little by little. The only thing that makes me nauseated is when I eat too fast. This has happened to me 3 times. You'd think I would learn, but I am so impatient. Gotta work on that. Sounds like you're doing fab! -Kendra

    HR blabbed to my supervisor!

If you wanted to get serious, you could probably sue. Violation of privacy laws, big time. I would at the very least put in a complaint. And by the way, your boss is a tool. -Kendra
  14. When my husband makes spaghetti I measure myself out 1/4 cup of noodles. I have been eating limited carbs like that and am doing fine so far with my weightloss. I am 9 weeks out and my sleeve tolerates everything so far. -Kendra

    One year ago today.

    Thinspiration city! Beautiful!
  16. I was being very supportive of you and resent being called a bad name. Part of being a parent means being an adult and being able to take constructive criticism from people who are concerned.
  17. Another Sonnastine! )))) I never can remember how to spell his name! -Kendra
  18. Ha! Same surgeon's office- I had Dr. Sonnanstine! Had surgery at Riverside 12/17/12. -Kendra
  19. Hi! Sorry, been without internet since yesterday!

    The defining moment you knew

I have to agree about the restaurant booth thing- it would cause me anxiety wondering if I would fit. I'm sorry, that is something nobody should agonize over. -Kendra
  21. I live in Lancaster but work and go to school in Columbus. Nice to meet you!!!! I wasn't sure there was anyone from central OH on here. Cool! -Kendra

    cookbook recommendations

I have "The Biggest Loser Family Cookbook". Lots of family-friendly recipes, quick and yummy. I am 9 weeks out and just starting to "venture out" of the pure-protein-100%-of-the-time thing, since I am cleared for all foods. You can always tweak the recipes if they seems too high in carbs. I love this cookbook! Also, Hungry Girl cookbooks are awesome! Happy Cooking! -Kendra
  23. Gorgeous! How much did you lose?
  24. I can really relate to the slip on shoes!!! LOL -Kendra
  25. It's a stall, that's all. Consider yourself lucky this is your first one. You will have to get used to the fact they will happen. Stay on track, and try not weighing every day. I know that's hard, but believe me, it helps your sanity. -Kendra
