    Bread

Funny I was just thinking about this. I am only 2.5 months out and I can tolerate pretty much anything. I have resolved not to be a "carb nazi" and eat whole grains, good carbs, and even very limited quantites of white rice or things made with white flour. For instance, I have had 1/2 a homemade buttermilk biscuit a few weeks ago, and it sat fine. I also plan on eating a couple of California rolls rice and all when the situation presents itself. The funny thing is, the thought of eating a slice of bread, even though I could conceivably eat it with no problems, doesn't appeal to me. I don't know why. I have not had a sandwich since December. -Kendra

why can't i do it myself...

I had 140 lbs to lose. Knowing how I felt at my highest weight, it is a lot to lose and most people need a boost (surgery) in order to help. I'm not saying this surgery is for everyone, but if you need to lose 140 pounds, it might be a good bet. -Kendra

    Best NSV ever!

So fab! Congrats! I can cross my legs comfortably but I have to be at an "angle". I just know I look down at my crossed legs and think, "wow, those are teeny tiny!" Well, they are, relatively! LOL -Kendra

    Confused and Panicking

It is true that the farther out from surgery you get, the less you should rely on liquid Protein. However, I am 2.5 months out and I still have a Protein shake 1-2 times a week for Breakfast for the sake of grab-go-and-sip-while-I'm-in the car convenience. My NUT said that was OK. The shakes should not be your #1 source of nutrition, because you need to train your sleeve to eat normal food. -Kendra

    Overwhelmed by pre-op test results!

Wow. That's a huge thing to have to digest. My thoughts are with you. Gives me pause for thought because I also have an IUD. I hope your surgery goes well! -Kendra

    Stretching out sleeve !

People who gain weight back (I'm talking a lot of weight, not just 5-10 lbs) are flat out eating and drinking things they shouldn't. Their sleeve isn't stretched- they are eating foods that slide right down and therefore they don't feel the restriction as much and just keep eating. The sleeve is not a cure, it's work. -Kendra
  10. Hawt mama! You look fab- congrats!

    Kids?

I didn't tell my 8 year old. Well, I mentioned it a good while before it even happened, but he got really nervous and worried. When it came right down to it, hubby and my mom told him I was "at work". I work 3rd shift and go to school so he's not surprised when I am gone odd hours. He was none the wiser and I think I saved him some anxiety. -Kendra
  12. So are you saying that you do try and stick to the Protein shakes, tuna, yogurt, etc., but you feel no restriction with those foods, but that you also indulge in non-healthy "slider foods" regularly due to the lack of restriction? I would think that even with 75% of your stomach gone, you would feel significant restriction. Best thing to do is contact either your surgeon or another surgeon's office here in the states and ask some questions. -Kendra
  13. My first question is, what are you eating every day? That has everything to with feeling restriction. You don't mention that anywhere in your post. I am thinking that is the issue.
  14. lilbearzmom

    I need help badly!

Well what are you eating? If it's junk you certainly won't feel the same restriction.

    Incisions...

Yeah, my big incision felt "hard" for awhile. I feel pretty well healed up on the inside, but my incisions are still very obvious on the outside 2 months out.

Finding out what people really think...

Oh my, now that my weight loss is so obvious, I am lying through my teeth to people when I get the question, "how did you do it?". I say I'm eating a lot of Protein and limited carbs and training for a 5k. That seems to satisfy people. I have only told my family and a couple of coworkers. I figure it's no one's business, and honestly, it makes me uncomfortable talking about my health history- too private! -Kendra
  17. No, not really! Hubby has been making this really yummy looking homemade white bread since Christmas, and I haven't had any. I took my kid to a bounce play area and when I came home the house was filled with the smell. I had stopped at Wendy's and got a kid's meal for my son and a small chili for me. I had a slice of the bread with some butter...OMG. Rock. in. my. sleeve. I have been able to tolerate everything until this. Glad I got that out of my system. I couldn't even eat any chili after that...ugh!!!! -Kendra

    Pain

Oh wait, you said the pain is on the right side- my internal suture pain was on the left side near my "big" incision. Could be gas pain, too. I thought that in general gall bladder pain was more "centralized", like in the center of the chest or back. I had my GB out while on the table for my sleeve surgery, thank God. I had periodic aches in my back between my shoulder blades caused by my gallstones which are gone now. -Kendra

    Pain

I had that too and was warned about it by my surgeon's office. It is most likely the normal internal stitches thing. It's a rude awakening when you have been pretty pain free since a little after surgery, now suddenly it hurts again. For me it lasted about a week or so, then it went away as quickly as it came on. I have heard it can vary in intensity. -Kendra

    cold cereal?

I eat Special K Protein cereal on a regular basis. I was allowed to have it during my soft food stage as long as I soaked it in the milk first. It's like 12 g of protein all together. -Kendra

    First restaurant experience

Weird- Ihop here in Ohio is one of the cheaper places to go. An omelet breakfast here is maybe 7-8 bucks.

As far as I know it heals back together. The staples probably eventually dissolve.

    Gratitude Post

This is happening to me too, mostly with people I have known before losing the weight. I just notice my classmates (I am graduating in May with a Respiratory Therapy degree) are more interested in me and are going out of their way to include me in things. I don't know whether to sit back and appreciate it or feel a little depressed that I had to lose a bunch of weight to be taken seriously. I'm still essentially the same person, just smaller. -Kendra
