pain across top of lungs that also goes down onto stomach
dust replied to rmkwk1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
pain meds? i was sleeved on the 20th and noticed a little bit of pain similar to that, but it hasn't been too bad. it's definitely exacerbated if i drink something cold, so i try to keep everything room temperature. good luck -
We wont know if I am approved until the eve of surgery?
dust replied to afreeka123's topic in Insurance & Financing
why in the world did they schedule it without approval? that sounds incredibly risky. i'd call the insurance company and see what is going on. my surgeon wouldn't even discuss scheduling until we both had the letter in our hands. -
i was just sleeved last wednesday. i'm already back at work and feeling pretty good. it was much easier than i expected and the recovery and post surgery diet isn't bad. muscle through it and when you feel a little down just remember that little one who drove you to make a change. good luck, and make sure to stay plugged in here and at a local support group. it will help you stay on track!

i was sleeved this past wednesday.. honestly i'm not missing much because i am not hungry at all. i'm sure something will pop up one of these days, but for now i'm feeling good. i too was a diet coke addict, dropped it cold turkey and haven't skipped a beat. maybe try switching to green tea or coffee if you need the caffeine, but remember you'll have to drink extra Water to combat the caffeine's diuretic action.

definitely getting better every day. i'm going back to work tomorrow. i'm sure i will be worn out by the end of the day, but i'm ready. i've been cooped up at home since thursday afternoon, i'm ready to get out!

i was sleeved wednesday. i had doubts before, i have doubts after. i look at the doubts as a blessing. most of the time i'm confident, but every time a doubt creeps in my head i'm focused on recognizing it and keeping on the right path. being too complacent spells trouble.

Finding out what people really think...
dust replied to feelbetter's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
i'm only a few days out, so i don't speak from personal experience. i'm 35 and, other than my weight, in very good health and decent shape. the doc told me i could go back to anything i want - jiu jitsu and judo included - after 4 weeks. it might be like 4-6 weeks instead, but regardless the message was that it will not impact my training at all once everything is healed up and good to go. -
i dont believe that a little carbonation will stretch anything, but i'm not a doctor and i haven't done any research. after all this trouble to get the sleeve why would you take a chance on ANYTHING that could put you on the wrong path? totally not worth it imo.

Finding out what people really think...

i was sleeved this past wednesday. i didn't tell many people and don't plan on it. i just don't want to hear it. especially from the friends who say "no way, you aren't fat!!" when you mention gaining a few pounds or that your feet hurt because you're heavy. that's almost worse than someone saying "dang, you're fat!" -
Can anyone tell me how is the upper G.I. Test?
dust replied to alobri's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story

i just found DR. now what do i do
dust replied to kelseymesjjs's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
ask the doctor what to do? seriously, they will counsel you on whether or not the surgery is for you and how to get through insurance (if that's an option) or self-pay. -
Please don't laugh at me....
dust replied to BuffaloCarol's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the only thing that will help with the CO2 left over in your abdominal cavity after surgery is movement. walk, walk, walk. gas-x / mylanta gas etc will only help with intestinal gas - the burp / fart kind of gas, which you will likely experience in the first week or so. -
gas-x has no effect on the co2 used to inflate your stomach. it's for the intestinal gas after surgery. i was sleeved on wednesday and the intestinal gas came on strong last night. gasx has helped some but it's not a cure all.

my nut said we can drink coffee, but it does NOT count as part of your overall fluid intake. same with caffeinated teas.

i'm actually in georgia, but my company is headquartered in new jersey, but same insurance. i had to: go to a seminar go see the surgeon go see the nutritionist go see the shrink lab work + upper gi primary care physician letter visit a support group
-
i'm on horizon bcbs of new jersey. after all requirements were met (both for the surgeon and the insurance) they submitted and i was approved about 6 days later. they sad to expect 5-10 days.

good luck. i'm new to this, but i love the sleeve so far.

find a crossfit gym. they are extremely serious about form and technique, and though they have a really hard core reputation they work with anyone. it's a team environment, encouraging, and never gets boring. i train in jiu jitsu, and they have a crossfit style class there as well, and it's a killer, total body workout that covers cardio and strength. most "trainers" out there have no idea what they are doing.

i was just sleeved on wednesday at Emory John's Creek with Dr. Hart. he did a fantastic job and the hospital was top notch.

Isopure leaves a film in my mouth
dust replied to mom2five's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
agreed. i bought a bunch from amazon and it's barely drinkable. it's a million times better than the bariatric advantage liquid protein elixir they have me on for the first couple of days. that stuff is incredibly nasty. shakes start tomorrow, and thats a lot better. -
believe me, the sleeve will be here before you know it. i was sleeved on wednesday and, believe me, it's worth it. tough it out and make it happen! good luck!
-
update. i was sleeved on wednesday. alittle slow moving today, but i'm doing fine. i figure with another couple of days to rest i should be fine to go back to work on monday. i'll keep yall posted.
-
i was sleeved on wednesday. they shaved my stomach while i was under, and they left my happy place alone. no external sutures, just steri-strips. not sure if they used any dermabond.

Slow Users: More Calories = Weight Loss Could be a coincidence...?
dust replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
definitely not a concidence. some people need more calories to keep their bodies from moving into "starvation mode." sometimes it just takes some experimenting to find that sweet spot.
